^but isn't that for more oily skin...I found that page a little narrow-minded.

If you check out the messageboard, people of all skin types use it :). Benzoyl peroxide does dry the skin so that's why it's important to apply lots of moisturizer (the right kind) so that your skin-oily or not- won't become flaky.

What about blackheads? I use you know, those scrubs. And those strips, especially on the nose. They don't work. I hate blackheads :(

Pls never ever use scrubs to cure blackhead spots. Blackhead spots it's skin pigmentation, but not kind of acne. Better take consultation from good skin doctor.

I think the easiest and cheapest way to clear up the skin is by following the Clear Skin Regimen from http://www.acne.org. I'm almost 2 months in and it's really clearing up dramatically. My skin's so soft now and I only have a couple of scars left :flower:.

:unsure:i dont know, that website hasnt told me anything i dont know or havent tried...ill stick with my stuff. but im super happy that its worked so well for you...:flower:

I've been on tetracyline and stopped it at christmas. Now my skin is bad again, and my back, arms and chest!I don't know what to do.Do you recommend any shower gel ?

I don't agree. I was on a very healthy, 'natural' diet for a year. I still have my acne. Eating right, drinking water/green tea and living healthily does help, but doesn't take the problem away. The two dermatologists I have been seeing say that too, so it's not just my personal experience.

And if the problem would be from living unhealthily, how do you think my acne started? I got my first signs at the age of nine, and I didn't eat fast food/candy/soda.

my mom told me she read in oprah (hahaha what an opener) that food/chocolate whatever doesn't cause acne. the only food that they could link with acne apparently was sushi becuase of its high levels of iodine. i think, though, that greasy foods CAN cause acne because the grease gets on your fingers and then you touch your face. the easiest way to avoid breakouts is probably to just keep your hands clean and avoid touching your skin.

Sushi?! I love sushi .

Hi,
my intention it wasnt about saying that the unhealthy people just get acne. What i was tring to say was and it is that what we eat sometimes it isnt healthy at all, meaning about how that food is made ,how they feed the animals, all the antibiotics and hormons and pesticides etc , also all the supplements and vitamins they dont all have the components they say they have. And for that reason our sistem get sick, like our liver and for that our body react. I have born in a farm eating organic all my life from my house, ones i start to eat from supermarkets i start having acne. Acne Something that really bothers me because i couldnt even go to the street, and i had to do something so i start to see and read and search and my conclusion was that this is real . Also i can give you some webs that you can go and read for yourself.

Hi,
i can feel your pain and understand it because happend to me and i learn a lesson after i spend thousand and thousand in products, medicines, doctors etc. I need to understand my body, to feed him well, and to listen to every sign.. and thats what i did. My unger made me quit smokin, no alcohol and just eat healthy and spend hours in places to read labels looking for compounds that in any way could be part of my inside problem. I found a lot of information and today my face even before my pms its clear...i work out and i feel a life more energy more friends more positive and gratefull to be a life in this world.. Im going to give you some web that you can go and search for the latest advences in science for example

Yes, it is inspiring. I also think that you should know your own skin, learn it, learn what triggers it. For me, I've learnt that although I may have a clear period, I may still get a few breakouts now and then. I just have acne prone skin, and it keeps changing, whether it's from what moisturizer and make-up I use, the weather, what I eat and drink, what touches against it etc. I just have to keep adapting with it.

Thanks for those Andylucky, I'd give you karma but my computer is in a state of complete madness.

I think I've given up hope with my skin...though I'm having a so-called 'depressed' period in my life. I don't even remember myself with clear skin, maybe it's part of my identity. It's so stupid for me to say these things ;)

i don't know what to do...i'm 18, and i never had a major acne problem...just a few stubborn pimples on the chin area. A few months ago it got much worse, instead of isolated pimples that were easy to cover up with concealer, it became patches of redness along with the pimples. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me minocylcine pills, and triaz 6% benzoyl peroxide pads...4 wks later for my update appointment he said there was definitely an improvement but i told him the benzoyl peroxide was drying my skin out terribly and i still had pimples/redness (and concealer over dry skin/pimples is not a pretty sight)...so he took me off the triaz pads, and prescribed Plexion cleanser and Clenia emollient cream, each to apply twice a day and I'm still taking Minocycline pills. Somedays I'll see a little bit of a difference but today especially was so bad, after i used the medicines the effected areas started to burn badly so i had to wash the clenia cream off. When I cover my face with makeup its not bad but it's so hard to look in the mirror after i've washed my makeup off, i get so frustrated. I can't even bear to look at my mother with my face b/c she claims it's never been this bad. She suggested I try new makeup maybe I've become allergic to my MAC makeup...Anyone here ever try plexion cleaner or clenia cream? Any advice?
