I'm desperately need help,it's make me crazy...What brand of make up is safe for skin who have an acne problem?I tried Clinique,Estee Lauder,Chanel...is it true that make up is also cause an acne?
(I'm sorry ifor my bad english...just correct me if i have a mistake..THX)

There is alot of makeup out there now that is specially formulated to actually help acne. I am using Almay "clear complexion" concealer and powder, and because it contains salicylic acid it is supposed to help acne. Personally, I have not noticed it helping my acne at all, but at least I am sure that it does not make it worse:flower:

Don't use salt that has iodine. My dermatologist said that you should try to buy non-iodized salt to eat, so I wouldn't imagine putting it directly on your face would be good....so use sea salt^_^

One caution about sea salt, it contains over 7% sulfates. If sulfates bother you, you might want to avoid it.

I dont have acne, I just get bad break outs but hopefully someone here can help. On my chin I have a particular place where a spot comes and as soon as it goes, it comes back as a painful red small swelling (nothing huge but it hurts quite a bit anyway) and the turns into a zit again. It is so annoying. Could someone please try to explain why it does this and what I can do to prevent this happening. Many thanks :flower:

^ Do you rest your hands on your chin? Do you get this before your period?

Acne is the result of a bacterial infection in your pore. The reason it keeps coming back in the same spot is that you aren't killing all of the bacteria. You just kill enough to reduce the swelling and when you stop treatment, the bacteria regroups and regrows. To prevent it you might try continuing the acne treatment even after the acne is gone. This should help. Incidentally, this is the same concept by which products like Proactive work.

chin breakouts are definetly from talking on the phone. do you do that alot?

Okay, I bear some questions : What exactly do moisturizers do to the skin? Does it in any way help to clear/prevent acne? And is it necessary for people with oily skin to apply moisturizers?

Yes, i always sit with my hands resting on my chin  i geuss i should stop that. And i do often break out before my period. Thanks for the ideas :flower:

ohmigod i've never even thought of that, i never used to break out on my chin, and i have been talking on the phone a lot more

I was doing alot of reading since I'm on vacation. I've read many skin manuals and apparently, I have adult acne as oposed to teen acne. Adult acne rarely comes to a head, so what I get are small angry bumps which are painful to touch and if there's pus, whcioh si rarely, it only forms a small white head.

I did have teen acne when I was about 14 but that cleared up when I applied Dalacin T. I had acne-free skin for 3 whole years until this year:angry:  Since there isn't a head, Dalacin no longer works on my adult acne and I've been taking Accutane and going for laser treatments. My skin condition's improved a smidgen but it's not enough. I really want to know what has worked for you guys, if you had adult acne. Diets, meds, treatments, anything really. I would hate to spend another year with bad skin.

Many thanks.:flower:

What does moisturizing do?

Moisturizers prevent water from naturally evaporating from your skin and thus keep the skin soft, flexible and feeling great. You can read more about skin moisturizing in this moisturizing post.

The answer to your second question is NO. Moisturizing will not help to clear/prevent acne. In fact, sometimes ingredients in moisturizers will cause acne. Don't worry :o you can make a good moisturizer that will not cause acne.

It is still helpful for people with oily skin to apply moisturizers. Skin ingredients like petrolatum, fatty alcohols and other moisturizers work better than your body's natural oil (sometimes science is better than nature). Your best bet is to wash your oily face and then replace the natural oil with a moisturizing product. Your skin will love you for it.

I have to disagree. The precise reason I break out is because my skin gets dry. When my skin is well hydrated and moisturized (which according to my aesthetician is different but I'm still not sure how) I don't break out. Now, this certainly isn't the case for everyone, but it sure is for me. keroppi, perhaps a good hydrating serum would be worth a try. I'm fond of SkinCeuticals Hydra 5B and Prada's Hydrating Serum. I've also heard Cellex-C Hydra B5 is good as well; I haven't tried it but have had good luck with their products in the past :flower:

Also, your skin could be oily because it is dry. If you have dry skin your body tries to compensate by creating more oil. This happens to me. I would recommend everyone - regardless of skin type - use a moisturizer.

^ that's exactly what my derm said. She says you should always use a light mosturizer on top of scars and old acne amrks if you want them to heal faster. Otherwise, your skin will be too dry and will just keep producing mroe sebum

While it may be true that you break out when your skin gets dry, dry skin is not why you break out. You break out because of the bacteria living on your face. The ones on your face (everyone has them) just happen to flourish when your skin is dry.

And I too would recommend a daily moisturizer for any skin type.;)
