The Acne Thread

my skin was turning into CRAP recently with all the stress and transition i was going under...my skin was showing it BIG TIME....cystic acne is horrible...so i upped my regimen....i dont take in sugar.....i take like 30 mg of zinc (it helps the skin healing process, i read that on www.skintactix.com) and i started using skintactix every night....my skin has improved about 85% in the last month...i love that stuff....it doesnt just clear the acne...it heals the weakened and traumatized skin so its no longer suceptable to infection.....its a lil pricey, admittedly....its like $47-60 with shipping depending on what kit/products you buy-BUT SO WORTH IT!!

i think its crazy, i only have to buy this stuff like every year and a half, or whenever i flare up...i LOVE it

as soon as the acne goes away, im going to buy the scar kit i always get from university medical... that is another awesome product....and only $20 for something that helps pockmarks and hyperpigmentation fabulously! AWESOME

GUYS! CHECK IT OUT!! www.skintactix.com

What's this scar kit you're talking about? and where can I get it? I totally have scarring and it takes FOREVER for them to fade! I can't wait any longer!

wait which items are you exactly using?

does it get rid of scars and pigmentation?

how much is the shipping by the way to canada? their online shop isnt the most user-friendly.

cath85, the kit is available in-store (that's where I got mine). I'm not sure how well it works on blackheads; I've never really had them so I don't know how it will work. Hope it works for you!

for people with acne scarring:

my mom got me Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel, and i really like it. i saw results within a few days. the only thing is that it smells awful. i heard it has like some mushroom stuff in it. anyways, i really like it and i say give it a go. ;)

Im done with Spectro.. nothing has improved in months. My friend just told me she swears' by clinique's 3 step acne line... so I am going to try that I think

^^ thats not out in AUS yet.(the acne kit)

hmmm i would want it. my mum used the normal 3 step she LOVES IT

Okay. I've been using it long enough to say it's working. Walgreen's Alpha Hydrox Cream. I used to use the Lotion but of course they d/c everything I love so I tried this.

I wash my face, wait 3 minutes. Apply a very heavy layer of this cream. Wait 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse off. Wash with sulfur and then moisturize.

It's helped my red marks SO much. I barely have any left. It's amazing. I don't have any active breakouts.

SO good.

hey you guys i need scarring, hyperpigementation, discolouration and redness products! My skin isnt so much breaking out badly anymore but theirs just damage still leftover after 4 years of acne.:(

Currently using:
-marykay microdermabrasion
-face cloths by olay
-proactiv repairing lotion(temporarily;leave on and rinse right away)
-cetaphil lotion
-aspirin mask(2/3per week)

tomorrow, ill go and buy queen julepe mint mask and im planning to buy lightening and fade products. I heard black opal(made for black people though im not) is a good product.

Any suggestions/opinions?

Can anyone recommend a good homemade spot treatment? I'd like to try something natural on a spot I have on my cheek. It's nothing huge or devastating, and I'm entirely open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Aspirin, water, and honey. You take a tablet or two of aspirin, depending on how many spots you have. You mix it with a few drops of hot water and mix maybe a quarter teaspoon of honey and put it on your spots and leave it there until the morning. It makes my spots smaller. Aspirin is related to salicylic acid.

Could I get some recommendations on gentle products that will help with redness? I dont get pimples that often, but my face gets really red often, which highlights any pimples that i have as well as the spots where I've had pimples.

Aveeno has an Ultra-Calming line for sensitive skin. You could also use Visine on pimples because that supposedly temporarily relives redness(I've never tried it though).

yeah i heard that from a fashion segement for makeup secrets with models and pat mcgrath in it.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but I've found a product which is really working for me :flower:

I recently went through a really bad patch with my skin. I used to get the occasional spot but nothing too bad. A few months ago, it just went crazy and I had a lot of marks and blemishes - as soon as one went, another would come, it was pretty constant, and it was really getting me down :(

I went to the Aveda salon and I was recommended to try an oil called Aveda Balancing Infusion for oily/blemish skin. It's a tiny bottle, but you get a lot out of it. You can either apply the oil directly to the blemish, or like I do, add three drops to your daily moisturiser. You can even add it to your weekly masques - it's very versatile product. I should say that even though it's an oil, I have never felt an oily residue after I've applied it. I just let it sink in with my moisturiser, and then do my makeup.

Results so far have been great :woot: My skin is clear and I'm not getting any more spots, not even those tiny irritating ones that appear and do nothing :lol: I think it's generally improved the overall tone of my skin, and it feels so fresh and glowing.

I can't say that this will work for everyone, and I was really unsure of how this tiny oil was going to work for me, but so far so good! It cost me £17.50 - which I guess is maybe $30 US? The other potential downside is that nearly all the reviews on MakeUp Alley suggest that it loses potency after a while  So I'm using as much as I can whilst it's still quite new - then I hope my skin will remain clear enough for me to continue with my regular routine.

Hope this helps someone - I know it could seem quite petty, but when you're really unhappy about your skin, it does affect you so much :( :flower:

^^yep, all their products and the regimen for about a year..nothing changed significantly..:(
