The Acne Thread

Well it has now been a week & my spots do look less angry & a lot have disappeared. However the ones that are left are so painful! :(

^Its only been 1 week,it'll get better ^_^

I have a doctors appointment for next week at long last

^Yayyyyy!!

Mine is horrific, but I'm thinking about tyring to go the whole week with no make-up on,which I could do easily to Uni around my new friends when I was on tetrecycline, but now I'm back to my old skin I'm not so sure. But I'm going to try my damndest

my skin is absolutly awfl right now...........I have a major, major break out on my nose.........its disgusting, i never get spots on my nose, it's always the cheeks. I am so frustrated.........the spots are not stopping......and the scars......I cant even bare to look at my skin when i'm not wearing make up...its toooo depressing!!

I'm thinking about making another appoinment with the doctor, I had 1 two weeks ago, to get my second dose of zeniryt. I'm going to ask to see a skin specialist now...I dont care about the side efects of roacutane I want to be put on it....im sick of having a bumpy face!!!!! :(

^How long were you on zineryt for? My friend was on it for 6 weeks, and then got a second lot no questions asked so I think you should easily be able to get a repeat prescription.

With regards to the scars, big hugs for you hunny :) I know how that feels. Have you tried a gentle exfoliator on your face? It's making a big difference to mine. And remember, they will eventually fade of their own accord

I just got back from my new doctors, who said that he isn't concerned with the number of my spots per se,but the level of infection (like my last doctor) so I am back on oxytetracycline, but instead of 3 months,I'm on it for 1 whol year now at the very least!

thanks hun........I'm still on zineryt i think i've been on it for just under 2months....I don't know if I can see any difference yet.........I'm not using anything on my face right now...i'm wearing very little concealer and thats it. I'm just trying to leave my face alone as much as I can...

I know my scars will eventually fade....but | really dont want to wait years beofre they do so...

Whats oxytetracycline?? is it stronger then zineryt??

Oxytetracycline isn't necessarily stronger, it's just antibiotics that you take orally. It's helpful if you get spots on your back/shoulders/chest as those areas will be treated too.
However, it can have side effects such as liver damage & teeth discolouration whereas zineryt is only introduced to your facial skin and nowhere else so won't do any damage.

^Theres a whole list of side effects...plus no dairy or food can be consumed within a few hours of taking it :( And I'm a girl who likes her food! It helped with the skin on my arms and chest and found it helped soothe and reduce some of my psoriasis (especially on the scalp). I also remember applying zineryt to my chest, rightly or wrongly

i only have acne on my cheeks and chin...I'm gonna try and stick with zineryt for a few more weeks. If I still see no difference i'm going to ask for roacutane.

Well I've been on Tetralysal for two weeks now, and I have noticed quite a big difference in my skin. I'm not sure whether it is infact just the tablets or it is also a new quick clear spot treatment I am using that is meant to reduce spots in 4 hours. I'm going to carry on with both anyway because as a combination they seem to be working well and I am quite happy with the progress at the moment.

i drank cola and ate chocolate yesterday at movies... and now i have such a terrible break out on my face it is not even funny! i am supposed to be tomorrow all day at uni... but i cant imagine myself with THAT face somewhere around people.

sick. i thought using avene/la roche posay/body shop series i got over acne.. sick!

I'm breaking out randomly, Probably because my diet has changed drastically.
I'm going to buy a clinique set, will this clear up my skin by christmas?

^Clinquie never cleared my skin up,but it didn't make it any worse. I'm yet to find something over the counter or what can be bought in a drug store that cleared up my skin.

The antibiotics are starting to work again ^_^

^^ I have to say that I've never heard anything good about Clinique :ninja: Didn't try it out myself but I think I don't even want to. My skin isn't that bad but from time to time there are annoying spots and blackheads on my cheeks especially. Then I always use tea-tree-oil or aspirin mask REALLY great! And I use Avene Hydance Optimale Riche Moisturizer with UV-protection.

I have had breakouts for most of my life and recently I have been having alot of success with using Proactiv and Olay sensitive skin moisturizer, and SUNSCREEN-oil free. The Proactiv mask on spots at night, really is a great as they say.

My skin cleared up even more by taking an anti-bacterial from the dermatologist and Clarion gel.
Microderms are so great too. It's not that expensive if you just go every-once and a while.

Is there truly a difference between products like Clinique and Proactive compared to Neutrogena and Olay??? I don't have visible acne but there are these flesh-colored bumps that can only be seen in direct sunlight which bother me so much and I'm wondering if the more upscale products will help with that...

Eurgh I have a very inflamed chin :( I dont know what's wrong with it. On the plus side I really like La Roche Posay's effaclar foaming gel
