The 'Authentication' Thread

i'd be careful... there are soooo many fakes of those floating around ebay and some of them are pretty convincing.

The scary part is even "some" of the powersellers are involved in such scams. Although I'm not against ebay - I think it is just a matter of knowing your seller and having the knowledge on spotting a fake bag.:D ;)

cacharel coat.. made in china.. authentic?

picture1082cv.jpg
Do you think this coat is authentic Cacharel?
On the fabric tag, it said "Made in China"..
It's a cotton blend..

the seller says this:"All my items are authentic , I buy from factory outlets directly in large quantity hence I am able to offer you all of my favourite designer brands at fraction of the retail prices."
"
from 2005 spring collection "

Only one of each was available in black and red..

What do you think stylistas? Is this Cacharel?

re: the LV logos never being cut off on their bags - what about when darts are made in the fabric, and these darts go through the LV? eg on the Anne Sophie.. does this mean it's not authentic?

I was wondering about the large horsebit bags, as someone said they dont come with a top zip. Is that applicable to all styles. I have seen loads of them on ebay, 99.99% claims to be authentic, some are very obvious, but others take a little work. I contacted a seller, who recently sold one. He says his bags are 100% authentic, and doesnt deal in fakes.

The fact that presentation, feedback, etc is looking good, i am wondering can someone clarify whether his bag was really authentic. It is leather and does have a top zip, does that mean its a fake?

the medium horsebit does have a zipper and the older ones were lined in suede (I looked at one recently and it was lined in canvas). but please don't buy it from eBay -- 99% are fakes. I've periodically checked to find an old bag they don't make anymore and not one single bag was real. sickening. these bags are pretty widely available now so just buy it from a regular store.

Identifying fake dior sunglasses?

I recently just purchased and recieved my dior celebrity 1 sunglasses (which i love by ther way), and the seller guarantees that they are authentic (4000+ feedbacks).

Even so, you can never be too sure. So what are the definited signs that they are fake? It came with a gray case, with dior written on top. The glasses came inside a plastic zip bag that has a upc stikcer on it, that says "Dior celebrity 1/s FR-LE" and containts some other numbers on it. It also came with a gray "dior prounds to present sungalsses" card thats like... 1.8 inches.

B)

[edit] but if you need pictures to double check, i'd be happy to post them.

I have mentioned this seller in another thread. Westwood have confirmed they are "very good fakes" but fakes all the same. There are slight differences in the jewellery when you compare it to the real thing...other items sold by him such as the t-shirts are very obvious fakes (wrong back neck labels, printed sections of design where there should be embroidery etc.)

The cufflinks will only cost $30 or so more from an actual Westwood dealer (if you have one nearby) so I would save your cash and guarantee you are buying the real thing...after all...pieces from Westwood never depreciate in value, it only increases the longer you have it, but if you have a fake it will never be worth anything if you try to pass it on in the future. .

I think a lot of people are fooled by this seller  and I think by starting his auctions high it gives people a false sense of security.

I have bought from Westwood's online retailer - www.hervia.com and ifyou sign up for emails you are notified ofs ales and special promos. Plus everything always comes in packaging and carrier bags,so it's ideal for a gift.

Hervia charges about £90 for those cufflinks though :flower:

For the Dior Homme experts...

The seller says these are a size 27, and that they measure 28 x 35.5. But I've never heard of DH making anything in a size 27, so I was doubtful...

They look real enough. The only fakes that i am aware of so far (in terms of Dior Homme) are the crappy *** jeans with the bee embroidery on the left back pocket.

These seem to be right in terms of the cut, and the placement of the tags (including the size tag, which is there next to the leather Dior tag).

If you are skeptical of the sizing, have the guy take a photo of the actual size tag, but they look real to me.

Why would you even want to buy a fake one? It would just be essentially a lie. Basically you are saying that you are so logo oriented, and also have something to "prove" to everyone else.

Carrying fakes basically mean that you aren't buying the item because you like it as a functional piece, but because you want people to think that you spend a lot of money when in fact you did not. Are you so worried about what people think about you and how they judge you that you see it necessary to get fake LV items?

No matter if it's real or fake, it's ugly as hell. Get some classier like the LV Taiga leather which doesnt have the disgusting monogram. Plenty of other brands make nice wallets that don't flash a tacky logo everywhere.

Thanks, Albert. I bid on them as soon as the seller relisted with a lower price. Less than a day to go now...everyone keep your fingers crossed for me!

yes, definitely fake :D :p

fakes are getting really good today, they come with everything they are supposed to. posting pictures will definitely help.

p.s. i don't buy from ebay.

Okay, I seriously hate eBay sometimes. I lost the corduroys bigtime. And I'm so confused. They were listed at first for $350. No one bought them. They were relisted for $299. I bid $350 just in case, thinking surely I'd be safe. Then they end up at $385!!!!! What the hell is the sense in that? If someone wanted them that badly, why not buy them before for $350??? Argh...that pisses me off. So that's two listings of waiting, all resulting in someone paying more than they would have in the first place.

If ur willing to pay, the orange wash jeans () are on eluxury for $465. I'm waiting until sale season before I buy, though. I really don't think i'ts worth it paying $500 for Dior Homme jeans..

^F*ck no!!!!! I think I'm setting my limit at around $300.

I cannot beleive you guys would spend such large amounts on clothes over ebay, from some random person?

It's just crazy!

- no idea if it's real?
- might not fit
- might not be how you expected
- might never receive the item in question

madness i say.

But they're real from Hervia!! I'd rather spend a bit more and know I had something that could even be passed on at profit sometime in the future (if I wished) as have a fake that is worthless...isn't it just like throwing money away?

I've bought/sold almost 1000 things on ebay and never had any problems. If you know a bit about what you're buying (e.g. know your size by a particular designer) and are familiar with what's real and fake there's nothing to worry about. :D

It's no big deal. If you don't like it, you just sell it again and get your money back. And if you don't receive something, you file a complaint and get your money back.

Like Stilista, I've never had a problem with anything yet. Most people are very trustworthy and want to make you happy as possible so you'll give them positive feedback.
