The 'Authentication' Thread

is the general rule that LV never cuts off their "LV" logo on their monograms always true? This picture is really hard to see, but I was debating with another guy about designer bags and my understanding is that its always true and he said I was wrong. Here's a pic of him holding a bag and i noticed the top has LV cut offs.

So are there any real LV bags with LVs cut off? or is his basically a fake?

No thats not true, the LV can get cut off on the real bags but one way to spot a real one is that the seams will always line up. You can also tell a fake by the look and feel of the leather, A real LV mono bag shouldnt be shiny, the leather should be slouchy and the handles usually turn a dark brown color. Thats the extent of my "fake" knowledge:blush:

^F*ck no!!!!! I think I'm setting my limit at around $300.

Theres only a diff of 100 bucks from the 350 you where going to pay. Get the ones you want, its not like 350 is a steal anyways:unsure:

^^Ha, that's what makes it so exciting sometimes! It can be such a rush.

I know, SanDiego. But there's always a fine line that I won't cross. $350 would have been more than I'd like to pay for them anyway. Those $100 differences add up to a lot of extra pieces after a while.

They're real. Those would be hard to fake. Most DH jeans on eBay are authentic, by the way.

Lol. I don't proof read. :flower:

Here are some pics. Some of them are blurry due to my age old 2mp digital camera. :D

thanks for responding.

[edit] if you need to see any additional pictures, ill try to make them clearer and provide better pictures.

pucci mama, the only fake dior jeans that I'm aware of have a terribly baggy cut (very visible) and have an embroidered bee on the left rear pocket. Also, the scratches at the left knee are done poorly. Finally, the rivets are stamped 'dior", same with the buttons on the button fly. essentially they are very very tacky and disgusting. Also, they often have an inseam of 32.... another giveaway.

The reason you don't see Dior Homme fakes on ebay is that fakers usually target brands that are extremely logo reliant. DH, being more about the cut and quality (although many people argue the latter, it's still better than a lot of brands out there), is not worth faking. You'd have to get the right fabric patterns, the right cut, etc. etc. Basically it couldn't be done for extremely cheap, and no one would buy the fake anyways because well.... it's not what people who go after fakes would buy. They're all about monograms, flashy tacky things.

This is why DH and all the other quality higher end designers aren't often faked. If the emphasis of a line is on the cut, fabric, and styling and not a logo then counterfeiters will go somewhere else.

As for fake LV, I know that there is some sort of online guide on how to spot fakes.... anyone have this information? Just for my own personal knowledge bank hehe.

Cheers,
Albert

Brian would know Dior.. no?
Brian is an expert in women's Dior as he's a huge Galliano fan. Not sure if he knows the Dior Homme side as well. Whadya say, Brian?

Hmm, I've never seen these sunglasses before.

Pretty much all of the Dior Homme sunglasses that I've seen are printed "Dior Homme" on the insides of the arms of the glasses. At least my two pair are. Also, as far as I know, the 1/S model number was reserved for the first Black Tie sunglasses, not this celebrity line.

Also, since you don't have many photos of the left glasses arm, I can't try to see if at least the number patterns are the same as Dior Homme sunglasses.

I have to say that the fact that it's printed "Christian Dior" on the inside arm raises suspicions. Also, my Dior Homme sunglasses always came in their original box with the Safilo papers. The case he gave you is't the standard Dior Homme case. Those are small leather ones with a dark dark gray lens wiper. I've never seen yours before.

Sorry to just raise more suspicion, I'm trying to be honest!

Cheers,
Albert
