No thats not true, the LV can get cut off on the real bags but one way to spot a real one is that the seams will always line up. You can also tell a fake by the look and feel of the leather, A real LV mono bag shouldnt be shiny, the leather should be slouchy and the handles usually turn a dark brown color. Thats the extent of my "fake" knowledge
