started with twice dyed dark brown(near black) hair.
goal : Dark Ash Blonde
my hairdresser put A LOT of highlights this time. it was kinda crazy because i'm used to sitting in the chair for a long periods of time for my hair but even i was getting tired this time...
my butt hurt 
! but it was worth it! she got me pretty blonde fairly quickly. to see what base color i started with and the first session of highlights go the Brunette Thread in post #398 and post #407 .
second session of highlights.
excuse the warm lighting. my hair is long again!

still some warm pieces left over from first session of course but it's much much improved.
my hairdresser has taken me to Light Ash Blonde before so this time she is able to get me to solid blonde faster, yae! she says one more session and i'll probably be done. right now most of the top is blonde, 'underbelly' is still a little darker but that'll get the bleach out next time. after that the only maintenance i would be going in for is root touch-ups
i might ask for slightly lighter blonde for the last/third session of highlights, i think that will give my hair more dimension overall. its mostly the 'underbelly' portion of hair that will be lightened, i prefer that to be brighter like how i had it last year :

Naked, aw thank you! my hairdresser is so funny, she loves straightening people's hair. she was like you don't need it but can i do it anyways. i was like girl go crazy, have fun! gotta wear my This Is It tee, its October! with the hair change i can probably go back to brown eyeliner and lighter makeup, yae! i'm so lazy-boy with makeup
teenagexvanity, thank you! i didn't trim my hair for nearly a year after going back to Brunette. since i wasn't coloring my hair anymore i just let it grow and grow! got a baby trim a month ago. my salon got into using Moroccan Oil, it smells really good. i'm thinking of getting a travel size to use before i blow dry(rarely but still lol)

aw your mom sounds sweet! Taylor Tomasi's red is nice too, polished enough for a career woman . if you wanna try both colors i would say go blonde first, its a good canvas for red. stripping red is harder. i had red before as well, it wasn't too bad to get rid of but i think i got lucky.

I'd like blonde hair like Blake Lively's current or Clemence Poesy's old hair, but i'm scared the hairdresser will make it look streaky. What are other ways of getting lightened hair with out foils? So it's more ummmmmm blocky????? Does that make sence?????

Bernice, balayage is without foils not necessarily blockier but no obvious 'lines' from the roots.
my hairdresser put so much highlights in this time so i don't have the blocky lines coming from the roots so right now i can part my hair
