Terrible news about i-D. But at least are still publishing issues.
This coming Sunday CBS's 60 Minutes will air its last show before going on summer hiatus. Presumably that means the profile it's been preparing on Vogue editor Anna Wintour will finally air.
60 Minutes said it wasn't ready to reveal next Sunday's story lineup just yet. But after this weekend, the news magazine goes into repeats for most of the summer. We first heard of it back in January and The Cut reported that CBS News cameras were following the fashion world's queen bee as far back as last November. Morley Safer was spotted sitting next to Wintour at New York's Fashion Week this past February.
First her documentary The September Issue premieres in January at Sundance (and is due in theaters in, duh, September) and now 60 Minutes — why is Anna suddenly so press friendly? Probably for exactly the same ones as why there was another sudden burst of rumors about Si Newhouse bringing in French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld to New York to replace her: Anna's contract is up for renewal later this year. A burst of publicity can't hurt to build leverage — though unlike the September Issue, which was filmed during the boom days of 2007, when Vogue was thick with ads, the 60 Minutes piece is being filmed during the Great Magazine Die-Off when even Conde Nast is tightening its belts. Consider our DVR locked and loaded for Sunday.
I truly hope they survive this aswell, it would be an epic shame if the mag folded.True, it would terrible if i-D folds, hopefully the cutting down will let them get over this time
and go back to monthly in the future
omg, thats shocking i-D just went bi-monthly!
Hopefully this move will allow them to have more time to create better content for
each issue, as I feel their content has dropped significantly these days in quality, each issue has quite similar editorials
Anyone knows when would the bi-monthly starts?
i-D, the monthly style magazine that has outlived all its competitors , it cutting back its editions and will publish six times a year from the summer.
The style magazine, which always features a model with one eye closed or concealed on its cover, a visual pun on its title, said it was responding to the current economic climate and protecting its 30-year heritage.
i-D will celebrate its 300th issue in June and from September, will publish six times a year.
The £4 glossy magazine was founded by former Vogue art director Terry Jones in 1980 and is owned by Jones and his wife Tricia.
"We see this restructure as a reinforcement of position and strength towards a magazine and brand we are passionate about and have protected for so long," said Terry and Tricia Jones in a statement.
"As one of the most respected and loved independent voices within the international fashion community, i-D is determined to maintain its unique status bridging the space between high fashion and street savvy."
The August issue will go on sale 9 July. i-D will then publish in September, October, November, February, March and April. The April issue will remain on sale for up to four months.
i-D is planning to update its website more frequently and continue with special projects, including the i-D Soul exhibition, which is touring internationally.
