The Business of Magazines

Sorry for Tonne, she deserves better, and I will be fuming if Edward really takes over.

Oh my... somehow I didn't (want to) believe Anna was leaving Vogue, but with Tonne and Phyllis leaving it's pretty much confirmed. Wow.

I really think that Anna will be leaving now...

And who’s gonna replace Tonne?

Tabitha Simmons, Lucinda Chambers, Camilla Nickerson.

Maybe they'll recruit Jessica Diehl, Talulah Harlech (Anna's BFF with Amanda Harlech), Malina Gilchrist.

With Tonne out, it's a done deal.
Anna is a goner. *shook*

I thought Sara is at W? Anyway, hope they go for Diehl. Can't stand any of the others. Least of all Harlech.

I suppose it really depends on who will take over from Anna. The article state that Tonne and Phyllia will stay on in some capacity.

I bet on Jessica Diehl or Sara Moonves. They love Sara so much at CN for whatever the reason.

I think they left before they get the Lucinda treatment. Its a smart move tbh. Saves face. Anna’s departure is indeed inevitable, and this seals it.

The question is, will Anna still appoint a replacement or leave it to the successor? If so, whoever gets the job will have a very shortlived position.

I also love how they left together, and not separately.

My heart is not yet ready for a revamped US Vogue.

But didn't Grace Coddington more or less leave Vogue a few years ago - and Anna's still there? I wouldn't like to jump the gun 100% and say this confirms Wintour's departure. *puts blinkers back on.*

I can definitely say that I'll miss Tonne Goodman's presence over Phyllis Posnick, though.

Are you familiar with Posnick’s work? Her one pic shots are often the best thing in the magazine. Her and Grace are irreplaceable.

Posnick was such a rare fashion editor in CN magazines who was able to make Demarchelier work worth lookig at. True one of a kind! And her work most of the time was the only reason for me to spend money on this magazine.

Where are Hearst suits? Both are such nice options to replace Glenda

Of course, admired many of those awe-inspiring images Posnick's contributed to Vogue throughout the years - just that I've preferred Goodman's fashion stories more (the ones with Steven Meisel remain some of my most favorite of all-time). Nothing against Posnick, whatsoever.

As others have said, definitely a signal that Anna is going, although perhaps not as soon as we might expect?

Tonne and Phyllis are both goddesses. Sadly Tonne's been shafted as far as fashion editorial shoots are concerned in the last decade; haven't enjoyed her work much since the turn of the decade since it's been mainly the celeb profiles she does. Phyllis has kept (fashion) imagery alive for me throughout even the last few dire years, drained of creativity (along with Templer @ Interview).

Can't there be one magazine where all of these currently retired monarchs of style can be housed? Otherwise print is truly done, at least in fashion terms. Especially if Sara Moonves has anything to do with it. She's quite possibly the worst stylist to have ever walked this planet.
