I'm going to redecorate my room around May, but I still don't have a clear idea of what to do. You all have amazing taste, and I hope you can help me with this.

This is the room's plan. It measures 14.36

I have to keep some furniture from the old room. I really don't want to, but I'm afraid I have no choice.

I actually like the way your room is laid out now but what sort of direction do you want your room to go in? Do you want it modern, traditional, italian, french, etc? Maybe browse some decorating mags to get a better idea of what look you want. I agree painting furniture is a great way to change things around

That's not the actual plan of my room (I've just realised I mistook plans). But I want the bed to be right there, not the rest though. The desk is quite big, and I think I should place it in the wall in front of the bed.

I was also thinking of getting racks for storing my clothes, do they look cheap?

I'd like French style: think of a bohemian artist in the start of the XX century. I'd love red and white damask wallpaper in one of the walls (I'd place the racks and a drawer chest there) and then paint the rest of the room in a neutral colour.

Talking about painting the furniture: which colour, white maybe? I like those whites who look aged (?).

I have recently redecorated my bedroom. I was desperate for more wardrobe space as like many on here i love to buy clothes!
So i originally had only 3 doors on my wardrobe and planned to add three more however the new three had to be built out as the existing wardrobes were built in.
While this was being done it was the perfect time to redecorate aswel as my room was only decorated shortyly after we moved in around 12 years ago and it was a deep royal blue. I planned my new room to be very clean, pure and white. I also decided to have a feature wall that would be pained silver.
And also ordered a new bed and had my floor relayed as before it was a light wood effect laminate.
So here are some pictures.
The existing three wardrobes with the new doors on.

The newly built wardrobes and also my new bed and headboard.

In the corner you can see how the new section of wardrobes stick out slightly this could not be helped as the main reason for the redesign was to crete a larger wardrobe.

im gonna go flat hunting this month! i already have a few flats in the docklands area that i set my eyes on.
i love ikea  i don't have the luxury to buy expensive high end furniture so ikea is probably the best resort.

wondering...
can i use this glazing paint on laminated wood floors?
if not, what kind of paint can i use to paint laminated wood floor white?

btw!!! for those who live in London. where are all the hardware and home depot kind of stores?

Where abouts in London are you going to be living as B&Q stores are very handy to visit for paint and screws etc. There are a few in the London area check there website:

hope that helps

Oh also MUXU you wanted to know what paint you can use on laminated flooring, i am not an expert so you should not really count on this but i do know that it depends on the sort of laminating it is. I take it is not solid wood but laminated wood effect planks? This is what i used to have on my floor and i was told that they could not be painted as to paint them you have to sand them down and as it is not proper wood it cannot be done.
Like i said you may have a different case as i am only going on my own experience. If you do visit a b&q they are usually very helpful for stuff like this aswel.

thanks empaulio!
yea...it's probably not proper wood but nothing is certain right now. i am still only flat searching! looking at the Isle of Dogs, Docklands area.

docklands is SO far out imo. Unless you work in the docklands or City it's like nice apartments but very out of it. And on the weekends and evening, very....dead. Your nearest Ikea from the Docklands is probably Edmonton....get everything delivered!

Love the illuminated headboard and new wardrobes! Gorg!

what? it's far? it's only in zone 2... the fact it IS so detached from the city and "dead" is why i like it. i live on the boarder of zone 1 & 2 near brick lane, i hate it. so noisy and dirty and makes me feel stressed being in the constant hustle and bustle. anyways, any place in zone 1 is too crowded and expensive, any where beyond zone 3 is too far. docklands is perfect.

Thanks Meg the bed took a few months to arrive as i had to order it. But i am glad with the outcome. Its not very clear in the pictures but the silver paint on the wall behind the bed is just sort of splashed on to give a different effect looks nice when the lights of the headboard are on.
Now i am starting to plan out my small en-suite bathroom to be redecorated!
As it is linked to my bedroom i want to carry on the theme and make it part of my room.

Just rearranged everything in my bedroom. Couldn't sleep at all, I felt like something was off...very strange. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep tonight

I am planning on re-decorating my room atm, and so far this is what I am thinking of:

Campo walnut platform bed from Room & Board

Bourgie clear lamps (one for dresser and one for all-black marble Saarinen side table to be used as nightstand)

Delano walnut dresser from Room & Board

Turquoise Foo dog bookends I just scored on eBay to hold my collection of Assouline Memoirs on the dresser

I am working on a drawing in Paint to illustrate how all this will be arranged...

Okay, so here is my best job in Paint:

Room.jpg

I also have a black iHome alarm clock that will be on the nightstand. My walls are a very pale cloud blue, and the room has really thick crown molding (along with whatever you call the molding at the bottom) and chair rails (not sure that's what they are called, but the molding at the middle of the wall about chair height). On the wall to the left of the dresser is a giant leaning frameless floor mirror and this stool, also from Room & Board:

The wall to the left is where my closet is, and above that in the picture is like a little entrance hallway that includes the bathroom door and the entry door to the room. Finally, if you can't tell from the picture, that's an LCD TV on the dresser. :)

love it! It looks great. Some very minimalistic details but the some really interesting accents like the foo bookends. I also like how (or it seems like it will) your sheets will sort of echo your molding...

^Thanks! I'm so excited about redoing my room, I couldn't help but post in this thread, which I have always loved reading, but never really had much of my own to say in. :)

Oh, also I forgot to add that there are windows with white wood blinds in the middle of the right wall and to the left of the dresser - I don't live in a cave! :p

empaulio i love those lights behind your headstand
are they low watt ?
a bunch of little lights add up you know on the bill :ninja:

I think my bedroom is too white (besides my Panda ). And I need a bedside table, don't know what colour. I'm gonna move the mirror to the other side of the bed so that it's next to the closet (which is nailed to the floor and ugly as ****) and the wardrobe-thingy, it just makes more sense that way.

But I really think it's all too white and blank. I want to put Dali and Escher replicas on the walls, but BF think they're scary :lol: What to do?

If I were you I would either paint the room or paint a feature wall. Other than that, I actually like the layout. As for a bedside table, anything but the middle one which makes me think of those horrible faux wood desks you have in highschool
