The Interior Decor Thread! #2

I just wanted to say that this chair is amazing, and it fits two close-up people comfortably

I went to a bar here in Brazil where they had a chair museum, and this was one of the ones in the lounge, for people to use. It's an amazing bar, with really cool chairs!

Some photos of the second floor

Sorry if I'm treating this thread as the secret shopaholic thread.. but it just made more sense posting these items here...-_-

I love the colour of the storage basket for my daughter Sommer's toys - it's a dusty blue plum color -
so much so.. that I've decided that that will be the main color theme for her room..

This is it - Muuto Restore storage basket made of recycled felt:

I want to make a princess on a pea madras for her room, sort of like this :

..but since I'm making it with expensive Liberty fabric..
PICT9075.JPG
I'm going to cheat and make one single madras..
but making it look like many by making 'harmonica folds' if that makes sense..
(I'm going to buy some more plain plummy blue cotton fabric..)

I found some gorgeous japanese handpainted paper at Liberty
- not sure what I'll do with it.. maybe glue it to something

And I got the follwing things..

A cute wall sticker and a kids picnic blanket at Habitat

Hanne your daughter is very lucky!

I love the princess and the pea idea. What a magical room it will be for her to grow up in :flower:.

So is there anyone else doing up their homes this summer... I move in in two weeks now and cant wait... we have decided last night to go for a glass splashback in the kitchen rather than tiles....

so its a white gloss tile floor.... the floor tiles have sparkly bits in them... then white gloss finnish units... a walnut worktop and going to get a bespoke made glass splashback like this.... but in a bright violet purple

I'm going to be doing some diys and a few small buys to freshen up my room as soon as I've finished my exams ^_^

I have a soft spot for that colourful, slightly cluttery feel. :D  And so I've been thinking about painting a wall like this, but instead of pink, I'll be painting it dark grey. Still hanging some pictures etc. on the wall.

I've also bee thinking about decorating a chest I have with some japanese papers, or something resembling.

Can't believe how long it's been since I've ventured on this thread! It's been too long! Thanks so much to all for all the inspiring pics you've been posting! :flower:

I've just recently re-done my room. I haven't had any money to get new furniture so I've just completely re-arranged my room and I love how such a simple thing as that changes how you enjoy a room. Anyway this recent escapade made me hanker for more interior decor fixes!:P

Tinetush I love the idea of the bold stripes on your wall. Go for it! With the grey stripes would it look like this?

Here are some pics i've seen recently that caught my eye...

^Yes :buzz: that's it... Just slightly darker. Though that pic makes me realize that I need a few more frames in different sizes. And perhaps a nice mirror, :shifty: it will make the room seem bigger as well ^_^

William St Girl - that sounds gorgeous. I really love (painted?) glass splashbacks like that. While I love tile, there is something so beautiful about just have a uniform surface as a splash back - and the colors are always so vibrant. Your place sounds gorgeous!

Hanne - so glad to see you posting in here and I can't wait to see the bed!

Exams and uni in generally have taken over all my time lately but I am really keen to redecorate parts of my flat. I would like to get some new chairs or a table as well for our main living area but not sure I will have the cash to do so. Regardless, it's always hard living in a rented place - you want to invest enough so that's comfortable and to your style, but not so much that you are wasting your money. Hopefully I will have the time to do some little diy stuff this summer while working on my dissertation.

Love the white and wood. The wood provides so much warmth while keeping the shapes minimal.

My boyfriend and I just moved and are looking for some furniture odds and ends but it seems so difficult in London. I really want to find some vintage and used furniture but at affordable prices which seems impossible. Does anyone have any recommendations of vintage or second-hand shops with furniture? A lot of the places selling "vintage furniture" do so at such high prices.

My husband and I are in the states but we had great luck at an auction. Although I will warn you that the cost of reupolstory was significant. Still nothing quite beats a chair with great design, history, and that slightly used glow. ^_^

I love interior design. Daryll Carter is a huge influence. I also love adding items from my travels - masks from all over, crystal decanter set from Ireland, rugs from the Middle East...I just hope one day I get a bigger space with better bones to show everything off in!!

Here is the lastest thing I ordered for our home.

Bird's Wing Dish from Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, the wing is realistic both on the front and back side and about 9 inches in size. I think it adds a dreamy sort of quality so I'll probably put it as a decorative piece in our bedroom.

Good thing that the season for fleamarkets have just started .. you can get some really great frames if you go hunting for them at the markets..:flower:

Yep, I've already been looking at some. Though in most cases I leave empty handed as I think they are charging a bit too much. I'd rather find some in a thrift shop, the ones I have are from there and were quite a bit cheaper. But maybe that's just in my town?

I think you're right.. unless it 'car booth sales' ..the semi-professional 'kræmmere' know what they want for their stuff.. Thrift shops are probably a better option

haven't posted much here lately and i'm amazed with all the contributions
so far, Tinetush i think your greystriped wall is an awesome idea as well :D
can't wait to see how it turns out

anyhow, just posting these finds :flower:

I love the look of a framed chalkboard. Actually I'd like to get an oversized frame for my "future" kitchen and put a chalkboard in it (or just a board painted with chalkboard paint) to put notes on.

Hanne, that curtain is lovely!

Hanne - I think you mean 'car boot sales'

That winged plate is gorgeous. I agree that car boot sales and thrift shops (where they exist - there aren't too many in London that have furniture that i have come across) are better than 'vintage furniture' stores because as Hanne notes, their knowledge means prices are higher.

I think sometimes its easier to score good finds in smaller cities and towns - there is less knowledge of 'trendy' items like decorative frames and different places have some things in abundance - i.e. I would never buy any type of sheepskin or reindeer skin throw in London because back home I could get one for cheap whereas here, the prices would be 100 pounds +

Not exactly interior decor, but a cool public toilet. It's a one way mirror!
