The Leg Thread - Toning, Firming and Questions

i really want to slim my legs down by almost 2 inches on my thighs and then also on my calves... i carry all my excess weight in my rear end and legs---ugh. so my plan has beena mroe restrictive diet and walking a lot more. thaat tones ur outer and inner thigh.

Okay so what I am gathering is that if you want lean legs, you should run, jog, walk briskly, do jump rope, and pilates and yoga. Weight training should have minimal weight and high reps. No sprints or spurts.... can someone direct me to a thread with how one should eat to be lean, this is different from simply loosing weight, and apparently you can't talk about weight? I am confused.
 
I hate it in summer sometimes because when I wear shorts there's this really weird stretch-mark looking like lines on my thighs and it's from scratching. I don't know how to get rid of it! Please help!

Go to the Weight Thread... there is tons of invaluable info on eating lean and getting the most out of your exercise...

I was wondering if anybody could offer advice, I'm pretty happy with my body at the moment and have been working quite hard for the past year to get it into the shape I want. I have lost 3cm on my thighs (mostly outer) and I am pleased with my calves...the size of my thighs is ok, I've accepted they probably won't get smaller but I really want to tone the inner thigh-I can't stand the flab there. Granted this is the place I store fat - I have stepped up my routine in an attempt to tone this area - I really don't think I could handle my upper body getting any thinner than it already is!! I know you can't spot reduce but how can I firm this area???

I am thinking about my legs..I go to SPA Hotel in two weeks I wonder how often you can actually do parafango.. and what results doyou have after..??? Anybody knows.. or please if you know smth please tell me where to find information.. I was googling but nadda :(

Ankles..I have such thick ones , I think that the leg exercises I used to do previously built them up too much.

one word. Stairs. Lots of stairs...and then some more. Good for the butt too.

Get one of those big balls(like $20-30 bucks tops or just use the ones at the gym) and put it up against a wall and level it with your lower back. Feet shoulder wit apart and do a few reps of squats. Its been helping my thighs out quite a bit!

Ohmigosh, the balls are AMAZING! Plus, you can work on your abs and other parts of your body just by repositioning. They are a cheap, movable, RELIABLE work out center. If you use a ball... you'll feel muscles you never knew existed!! :huh: :p
 
Oooh. I'm sooo glad I found this thread. Maybe you guys can help me.

2 years ago, I lost a ton of weight. 20 kgs, to be exact and now my body's disproportionate. I have a really thin upper body; non-existant boobs, skinny arms but have HUGE legs. I don't even have a butt but I've got flabby inner thighs and tree-trunk calves. I've been going to the gym religiously this past month to tone up my legs but so far nothing's changed.

I guess it could be genetic. My mom has got great abs and a good body for someone her age but eeek.. her legs are shaped like mine. Big calves and cellulite on the thinghs.

I would really like to make more calves more shapely and get firmer thighs. Any help would be appreciated:flower:
 
firmer thighs - definitely try one of the billy tae bo dvds - I have the ultimate bootcamp one - my legs are DONE! today - so sore all around, and I go to the gym regularly and have never felt it this much - I'm hoping it will work a bit

I started running and doing the Curves workout a little over a month ago and last month I lost at total of 16.25 inches. I lost 2 inches in my calves, 2 inches in my thighs, 7 inches in my waist, 3.50 in my abs and 1.75 in my bust. I recommed the curves workout if anyone has a curves gym near them. I did that workout 5 days a week and then would run on saturday and sunday since they were closed.
 
Wow well done M.Monroe!!!

I have an other problem, I had been dancing for 9 years and I started to get really big calves so I quit, and they are still not as slender as I want them to be, they are still "big muscles" showing when I wear stilettos, so I was hopping if one of you guys know what I should do to make them more slender?

ok so..these are my legs. they tend to look like "little kid legs" and i'm 20 years old. i'd like to put more muscle in the gap between my knee and my inner calf, along with my inner thighs which arn't fat but have these funny lines in them like the skin is loose or something, and overall just make my legs look more womanly. any suggestions? also..i'm a quite thin..but somehow i got a big butt. it's not my imagination, trust me on that. are there any exercises i can do to make it smaller. i can't even find pants that fit because the waist bands are much too small when the legs fit just fine. and if i go up a few sizes to be able to fit my waist and my big toosh, the leg of the pants are huuuge on my legs. on top of that, it's pretty embarassing to dawn a swimsuit when half my butt is falling out because i have too much of it. help! a lot of people are probably going to suggest that i eat more to get better legs, but when i put on weight my butt gets bigger and my legs stay the same :( the other little question i have..my knees are kind of squishy looking. is there a way to make them look tighter like in the picture below? that sounds ridiculous but you can see the difference when you compare my knees to the picture below.

umm...as far as I can see, your legs ARE like your dream legs. But,... although I'm not a trainer, I'm pretty sure that wall sits can build your quads up really fast. Of course, squats and lunges work too.

Congrats on your weight loss and especially for keeping it off. :)
You sound like you're a pear. A girl i knew at the gym was the same and lunges and squats (with free weights and with barbell etc) did the trick. Most importantly her diet was very very clean. She also built up her upper body to try and balance her figure.
Of course it isn't just the lunges and squats as there's no such thing as spot reduction...it has to be part of a consistent full body workout (cardio and weights).
