The MAC Makeup Thread #2

I really don't think MAC is a "top of the line" company. They put out so many new collections, the quality is getting really poor, and I wish they'd stick to what they do best instead of just putting out and endless amount of low-quality limited edition items.

how is the LE stuff lower quality than the permanent items?

the wonder woman stuff seemed like bad color choices, not necessarily bad quality.

^A lot of the eyeshadows are super chalky and even harder to blend than the regular MAC eyeshadows, same goes for blush

I don't know about the quality of the LE products because I've never bought one (I'm always super excited when I see the descriptions and pics online but when I actually see the product irl, I'm quite disappointed by the colours etc.).
But there are so many LE that it gets hard keeping track. I agree they should focus on their permanent products. I would prefer they'd bring out only 4 limited editions, like most brands do.

I have quite a few LE products ... probably about half of what I have. The part that bugs me is that many of my most favorite colors are either LE or discontinued. As far as blushes, it seems like there's never anything new to choose from, the colors that work for the very fair are the ones I've already had. I haven't noticed any difference in quality.

Oh, I think the name of that lipgloss I loved was Sex Ray. Bring it back!!!

I also really love Dove-Feather, which I think was part of the regular line but is discontinued. It is really a fabulous color and I continue to use it even though I hit pan a long time ago ...

I can't gripe about mascara anymore because they've come out with a good one at last, but I do think the quality of the foundation products is low (except for blot powder).

I believe that Mac's best items are lipsticks! Awesome!! On the other hand I believe Mac has the worst mascaras!! i m very disappointed on that issue! I recently bought Blushbaby, Sheertone blush. Great on my skin but don't last long. I m thinking of trying Mac's powder. Should i?

P.s Has anyone try a good Mac mascara?

^ I love Blot Powder. The new Haute & Naughty mascara is good, and doesn't irritate my eyes at all.

^ I recently bought the new False Lashes mascara and I've found it to be very good. I think MAC has been improving on their mascara game

Okay, screw Soft Ochre, I'm in love with Vintage Selection (I think that's what the new Limited Edition paint pot is called). I know it's not a substitute for soft ochre, but it replaced it at the top of my wish list.

Normally I don't get too wrapped up in the new collections. I am more interested in the permanent collection, and from what I've seen MAC has very high quality products for the types of makeup I'm looking for, and its more affordable than other brands that I've already invested in. I want MAC eye shadows, lipsticks, paint pots, and blushes. Not much else. And those are things I think MAC does well.

Chanel brags about the high amount of pigment in their products ... but that makes some of them quite difficult to use. I don't have that problem with MAC.

The only quality issue I've been running into lately is with the brushes in the lip glosses. With some of them, the bristles are all stuck together, and only really start to separate when you've practically used it up. I didn't realize this was a quality issue at first, I really thought this type of gloss came with a spatula kind of thing  Then I got another one where the brush was correct :innocent:

One other thing is that the water content is so high in some of the glosses (like Cremesheen) that they evaporate more than you use them, it seems :ninja: I really like the texture, though.

Oh, and certain lipsticks (Odyssey for one) don't maintain their form properly. When I returned one they tried to convince me it was a personal problem & I was rolling the lipstick too high, but I have had many, many MAC lipsticks & it's this one color that has the problem. The replacement is starting to lean a bit ...

So I heard at the MAC store today that the back to MAC rules have changed, and you can no longer get any lipgloss. They told me it was just Lipglass now ... can anyone comment on the truth of that?? It is definitely not Dazzleglass, I couldn't get that ... I got Money, Honey (terrible name, pretty color).

Bought Shale and Shroom eyeshadows tonight ... liked one of the Wonder Woman lipsticks, but it was extremely similar to one I just bought.

I've never bought at MAC makeup (shameful I know) but I really want to try out some of their products. Particularly their eyeliner. So any suggestions as to what I try?

^Depends on what kind of eyeliner look you want. A fine sharp line? Something you can smudge? Something to put on the waterline?

I'm thinking something that could smudge but also something to achieve a really nice cat-eye sort of look.

Their gel liners would be your best bet. I will say, though, that other brands make better quality gel liners. I wouldn't buy it just for the sake of buying something from MAC.

The ELF gel liners should be pretty decent :ninja:
The things I like the most from MAC is their eyeshadows...they have the most gorgeous neutrals for any skin tone.
