anyone tried MAC STUDIO FIX? i havee itt .. just got it a while ago. did it make u break out? how do u like it? share!
sorry if asked before, i don't wanan go through 13 pages, right now. haha im sure i will soon=P

I tried it,and I returned it two days later.I found it thick and sticky and hard to blend even with a MAC foundation brush, and the make-up artist who helped me the second time said that it was more appropriate for television make-up etc, which I won't be needing soon. They took it back.

I now use Select Tint for very sheer, easy application and Moistureblend when I want heavier coverage without that mask-like look.

Great thread by the way, thanks:flower: .

Where I am,they just took it back:) I think it may have helped that the shade was also a bit off so that I had a kind of tanned face with white ears showing, too  .

I said I had relied completely on their advice for choice of formulation and shade (Those counters have the most unnatural light imaginable) and I'd been ill-advised.

It really wasn't a battle...the service was great.

^ I see. Same thing happend to me. They adviced me about a concealer and when I came home I looked orange under my eyes. I tried explaining that I had relied on the lighting and their advice, but it didn't work for me.

I find most department stores has such awful lighting, it's almost as if you have to look out for that before u try any make up on or ask for a sample.

I love MAC studio fix. I use the powder and not the cream. I loves it...sucks that you had such a bad experience with it...

LOl. haha .. yeah.. but it's been a while, so i cna't return it =/..
the first time, it was way too orange for me..
.. good thing i exchangedit.. well they recommended it for my sensitive/acneprone skin.. so.. i dunno.. ahah so i was wondering, is the studio fix too thick to be a loose powder? i am currently usiing it with the brush right now.... and ih ave to use concealer underneath for my horrible acne scars...
i e-mailed them for the best way of applying, and htey say to go in slow circular motions using the sponge it comes with.. like buffing it in or something..
no idea, ow do u guys appply it? =)

Does Select Tint and Moistureblend provide more natural coverage?? I am turning 18 so I'd like to wear something to just even skintone for uni and then get a smooth, flawless skin for night. I'm not sure what my shade would be, but I'm anxious about choosing foundation ... I wouldn't kow where to start

I'm no make-up artist, but you have young and probably glowingly good skin,so the Select Sheer should suit both purposes for you. It's a very light liquid formoulation. In fact,by day you could probably just use tinted moisturiser and some concealer? For shade, definitely check the counters. With a liquid foundation you can get a sample first,or take a mirror when it's been applied to your jawline and walk out of the store...after okaying it with the SA's of course! (This gets you funny looks from passers by though:lol: ).

The Moistureblend provides more coverage. You can apply more or less of it,of course...toss-up,best to get professional advice the first time you buy.And *usually* they are very good!

I have another dumb question ... what is concealer and where and how do you use it?

Concealer is like a foundation but very highly pigmented, so that you can cover imperfections on the face. It is used on under eye circles and blemishes because most foundations are sheer and those are visible underneath if you use a normal type foundation.

Foundation is like concealer but in a more diluted formula, like a tinted moisturizer is like foundation but in an even more diluted formula. Imagine this order of pigmentation:

Concealer >>> Foundation>> Tinted Moisturizer

Of course there are foundations with highly concentrated pigment, like the pan cakes or the foundation sticks. But when you use those there is no need for concealer ;)

There are concealers in creamy formulas and others in more liquid formulas, but both are very rich in pigment, that is why both work

hth ;)

Forgot the how to use it...

You can use it with a concealer brush or with your fingers.
With your ring finger you pat the concealer smoothly under the eyes, with the brush you basically...just brush it! :D

Then use also a bit on the lids to even out the colour, and on blemishes if you have any. You can also use a bit on the sides of the nose to reduce the little bit of redness there usually is in this area.

Then dust lightly the face with powder to set and fix the concealer, otherwise it will disapear during the day.

You can use concealer by itself without using foundation, it´s far more natural because you only use it on the areas that need, not like foundation that you have to spread all over the face.

If you want or need to use both, use foundation first and then use the concealer on top and blend. Most magazines advise people to use concealer first but it´s not good because if you do that the foundation will "remove" the concealer, therefore taking away it´s mega-covering effect.

Argh, I really need to get my hands on that Strobe Cream, but as I live in Norway, this product has proven to be extremely difficult to get a hold of. The webshops that actually has Strobe Cream for sale don't ship to Norway. Help! :o

Try E-bay or Amazon's beauty section :flower: ..or if you have friends going to Copenhagen it should be easy to get a hold of

^ Thanks, no luck at amazon, one auction at eBay though. And no friends wisiting Copenhagen, I'm afaraid. Can't believe it should be so difficult  ^_^

This thread is soooo helpful .... I'd like to know if MAC concealers and tinted moisturizers are any good? I'm an NC 25-20. And does anyone have any information about skinshimmer????

^ I don't like them either. I have also returned stuff to MAC ... at cosmetic counters in general it's not a problem, although I did have I think it was the Estee Lauder people give me a hard-time at a mid-range dept store here where I try not to shop due to their draconian return policies. My lips have a habit of developing an allergy over time to lip pencils, and I was returning one for that reason. They took it back tho ^_^

If I've had something a long time I'm too embarrassed (I had a blush that was too dark) & I just toss it in my MAC recycling bag.
