The Mascara Thread

Why would one choose to buy a NON-waterproof mascara? ... Is it only because it would be much easier to remove?

Any recommendations for mascara remover? :D

I want to buy a mascara but which? The YSL Faux Cils supposedly lasts for a month, if that. Dior's packaging looks bad. I might try Hypnose. Any other suggestions? I'm looking for a mascara that does it all

If you can find it in your country, try Helena Rubinstein's Spectacular. It is indeed what it claims to be.

has anyone tried bad gal lashes by benefit, the line by jessica simpson? personally, to me its GREAT! it has a huge brush and it really lengthens and thickens my eyelashes [and its non waterproof kuz i hate the waterproof kind] except on me it sumtimes smudges and leaves some grey/black under my eyes.. im not sure why? you should really try it though, im lovin' it!! hehe i used to use lancome hypnose when it first came out, but after the 2nd tube i decided to try something new and the bad gal really works i think im gunna try the dior next! =)

Hey everyone - I recently joined tFS, but have been reading through the forums on and off for a little while.

Personally, I can't use waterproof mascara because I wear contacts and while it seems a good idea to use waterproof, it's not. The mascara can get permanently stuck on the contact, and then you see a big blotch of black! But for people with normal eyes, I think the waterproof mascara could potentially cause eyelashes being pulled out during removal  As far as removal goes, I've heard Shu Uemura makes a nice Cleansing Oil.

I have crappy flat thin short eyelashes and the best thing for them is Maximeyes by far. I HATED YSL faux cils! So weird. And I hate Lancome ones cos they irritate my eyes. :(

I've used YSL fauc cils and its amazing..i think i have the same lashes as you, mine are very thin and short but ysl mascara makes them soo long and curled!
I have a question for the diorshow fans in here :P is diorshow just as good as ysl faux cils?

I have eyelashes just like urs, and for me YSL works the best.
I did try Diorshow, but it was a disaster for me !
So I think I'm going to stick with YSL =)

Do you apply YSL directly, or curl first? (In other words, does the mascara create curl or hold curl?) Thanks!

would you guys recommend dior show, ysl, or shu eumura(sp?) for lengthening and curling..? i used to use hypnose when it first came out then after 2 tubes i tried bad gal and it's awesome but it smudges =/ and i just got dior show today so lets see how it goes!

i don't honestly think that there's any mascara that can create curl.

helena rubenstein's still around?? is it only in europe?

i remember that saks used to carry her line, but they stopped. i assumed that she either just wasn't selling well enough or that she went out of business :o

she made this wonderful mascara called vertiginous that was the best i'd ever tried; unfortunately i can't get ahold of that anymore.

im really really torn between Lancome definicils and hypnose aswell. after reading this thread it seems that everyone favours these 2 or at least that they must be very good. everyone seems to love definicils, but not much has been said about hypnos. which is better??

also, i really dont know whether to get brown or black. anyone help???

^ I've tried both. In my opinion both mascaras were excellent.
The diffrence for me was that Definicils gave a more " natural look "
when Hypnos gave a more " fuller " and glamourous look.

Brown or black ? Would help if I knew the colour of your eyes:flower:

Yes Brian you can still get helena rubenstein in europe..and if I'm not mistaken you can get a lot of diff helena rubenstein mascaras on amazon - check out the beauty beta section :flower:

Versacegirl..if you did a search on helena rubenstein (easiest way : chose posts that name helena rubenstein and have the results shown as posts not threads) and you'll get your answer..:flower:

my eyes are brown, but the reason im not sure is coz i dont know if i really wany the whole big black night time ashes look all the time, or just big lashes that seem more natural with a brown mascara. oh what to do what wo do.

im still pondering the definicils/ hypnose problemo but thanx a lot for ur help golden butterfly!!! does definicils curl lashes? did u prefer either one?

I agree with Golden_butterfly having tried both and come to the same conclusion..as for curling lashes nothing beats an eyelash curler (I prefer Shu Uemura's)...mascara's can promise and promise till hell freezes over that they curl..but for real curling action you have to use an eyelash curler imo :flower:
