The Mascara Thread

I agree with Golden_butterfly having tried both and come to the same conclusion..as for curling lashes nothing beats an eyelash curler (I prefer Shu Uemura's)...mascara's can promise and promise till hell freezes over that they curl..but for real curling action you have to use an eyelash curler imo :flower:

I have a fear from curlers..since the day i started curling them they started to fall out

i have a problem with my eyelashes they are naturally long and i use double extend mascara from l'oreal paris but my eyelashes never curl they just get long and thick and stick straight out i have tried curling them with a lash curler that doesnt help i call them the broomstick lashes..... Does anyone have any suggestions of what i should do

I have oily skin, so almost all mascaras smudge terribly on me by midday and I look like a raccoon. I used Lancome's Definicils for a long time, which still smudged, but not quite as badly as others I'd tried.

Then I found Lancome Magicils, which doesn't smudge; but it does flake, and dries out in a month or two.

But now, my HG mascara is English Ideas Mega Mascara. It is the only, ONLY mascara I've ever found that stays put all day, and even all night if I forget to take it off. No smudging, no flaking, not on my skin or even on the pillow. I can even put it on my lower lashes, which I've never, ever been able to do before without major smudging in about five minutes or so.

It goes on fairly easily with minimal clumping, and the brush is easy to control. But it dries quickly and then has the consistency of tar. One coat is enough for me; I suspect it would be difficult to apply multiple coats. It is a bit of a trick to get off; I usually soak my eyelashes with a wet washcloth for a minute or two, then peel the stuff off between my fingernails.

If you're looking for thickening, lengthening, curling, etc. mascara, this isn't the one for you. If you are searching for mascara that doesn't smear no matter WHAT, try this one.

i don't get the purpose of colored mascara? [not just dior, but any mascara]

i just got MAC fibre lash this past weekend and its awesome! i have long lashes anyways but it makes them look like falsies..i love how its supposed to be healthy for your lashes too^_^

It´s just another thing, as wearing different eyeshadow colours...
For example, blue mascara gives the eyes another look and it´s rather flashy and fashionable. Like this pink in the picture, it´s also really cool.

I've experienced the exact same problem which is funny, because I have dry skin. I would wear mascara that would claim to be budge proof, smear proof, waterproof, and it seemed that EVERYTHING let me down. I did a lot of outdoor climbing, and unlike a lot of female climbers that forgo even shaving on a road trip ( and wear shorts - eeeeeeeeeeeew.) I still cared about what I looked like. I limited it to mascara, simply because I wanted to look awake after getting up at 4 in the morning every day!

the mascara that I found is Revlon's Colorstay overtime lash tint. the packaging says that it is '3 day mascara', meaning you remove it every three days and then put it back on, but I remove it every night unless I forget. I can wear mascara on my lower lashes (if I so choose) with no problems, it never runs, smudges, smears or clumps even. the formula is also a lot thinner that most mascaras, it's almost like ink. you put it on in one coat, multiple strokes if you want a longer length, and then you dont touch it up at all, all day or evening! and it does not bother my eyes, especially good seeing as I wear contact lenses.

the stuff is also only 13 bucks (CND) so its uber affordable, and better than any of the pricey stuff I have tried. I would love to try this Mac Fibre stuff you guys are talking about, but I think I would end up wearing it under my eyes more than anything else

I've used nearly every mascara going, and there are about 15 bottles of mascara in my drawer now that I have used once and never again!

Never be fooled by the ads! My most disappointing buy has to be an Estee Lauder Mascara I bought, the colour is fantastic - really really black, but it runs at the slightest drop of moisture.

My favourite and the one I use every day is Definicils by Lancome

I haven't tried any Dior Mascara's, don't know why I just look and think "I'll buy that next time" and don't! Any reviews?

I LOVE diorshow mascara in black . . . my sister bought it for my birthday a couple years ago and I haven't used anything else since then . . . I've even gotten my other sister hooked! The wand is really long and thick which was a little scary at first because it looks huge but it coats lashes really well and really lengthens, thickens and opens up the eye. Obviously I'm a big fan

yep diorshow is my fave so far, im so addicted! thx 4 the reply sofialuv.. i just dont know how i could ever wear color mascara and not look dumb. anywho i was in sephora this wknd and the cashier guy had on the new dior show mascara in like a magenta/fuschia color it was sooo cute on him!! lol yes a guy.. the new colors are SO pretty!

oooh colored mascara . . . I've never tried it and I would be kind of afraid too even though the picture sofialuv posted looks nice. I'm not afraid of color in clothing but I wonder if maybe colored mascara only looks good on people with a certain color eyes? or does it work for everyone? I guess probably like all things it needs to be done right and worn with confidence . . .

I got hypnose as a gift... I used it a couple of times, but it kind of smudges a tad bit. Another problem I had was that the volume and length the mascara gave me weighed my lashes down...

it may be a tad heavy but i gently recurl my lashes after i'm done applying the mascara. that helps them stay up

Even though I don't wear contacts I find that I can only wear mascaras approved for contact wearers... So far all I've found is Almay, but their formulas are pretty boring. I did a search but came up with nothing specific, anyone know a good formula for sensitive eyes?

lancome's hypnose didn't smudge and it did make my lashes longer. but after a while it started to clump, i think it was my fault for that part. but anyway, i changed to dior's diorshow and it is a really, really great mascara. i love it.

blue mascara vs. eye shadow

1) What colour eye shadow would you wear with blue mascara?

2) Would you wear blue mascara during the day....or more of a night thing?
