The Mascara Thread

I'm due for a new mascara. I want to try the chanel inimitible waterproof. Does anyone recommend this?

Well I just tried Diorshow for the first time today and I have to say, I am impressed. I tend to just go for definition when it comes to my mascara, since I have nice lashes already, but I may have to spring for a tube of this before much longer.

I was thinking about this cos I need to buy a new mascara tomorrow and you've just convinced me ^_^

The new l'oreal extreme volume collagene is fantastic.
Lots of volume and definition, the two are hard to come by together. NO clumps!
Really?
Right now I'm using the "Lash Injection" from Too Faced. I like this mascara a lot, but think every time I use it again it works a little worse than the time before :( That's a pity, because when you use it for the first time, it's great!

I'm searching for a mascara which has a great, defined volume without clumps...maybe the L'oréal Mascara would be an alternative

i use the ones that come free in magazines!:D if it's something i don't read with a free diorshow mascara i get the mag for the magic wand ;)

I'm looking for a cheap mascara that gives volume, curls, thickens, no clumps with a really dark black colour for a dramatic, va-va-voom look. Any suggestions?

^ Beauty tubes something from Loreal. I usualy use expensive mascaras, but this one I love. You have to apply it with the right technique though, if not it will easily clump. I dry(?) it on a peace of toiletpaper so the remaining mascara gets off. Then it won't clump as much. If I want a more dramatic look I take a second layer without drying on the paper. Hope this was understandable. ;)

^the covergirl mascara that is an orange tube is very good. or any rimmel mascara as well gives great long dramatic lashes

Great thread! :)

I've been using my mascara since last year but it hasn't dried out. Is it safe to continue using it or to throw it out? Also, I have an unopened mascara for about a year. Should I use it even if it's not dried out, or is it bad for my eyelashes?

Whilst I am guilty of using old mascaras too, I think it is safest to throw it out. I'm trying to get myself in to the habit of that now :innocent:
If the unopened one hasn't been opened at all, just in storage, it's perfectly safe and fine!

Thank you for the reply ^_^ Just for future reference for myself, how long should I keep using a mascara before it belongs in the trash? (Sorry, I'm a noob on the dos and don'ts of makeup!)

about 6 months i believe? maybe even shorter because the wand comes in such close contact to your eye.

6 months seems to be the general guideline,
though I've seen articles about how 3 months is better.

chel4mdavali and daisybella, thank you for the speedy replies! You guys really helped me.

Nayone got any iformation on the new Collossal mascara by Maybelline ? The one Julia Stegners advertising for ?

i've been trying to decide what mascara to get next, i prefer the type that lengthens and gives volume
any suggestions?

^ I like Diorshow ... however I've been thinking of switching to a drugstore brand. In fact I have switched, I picked up some Maybelline XXL something or other, inadvertently got a 2-step one, and I'm not overly thrilled with it. Advice for someone looking for a downmarket Diorshow?

Oh, just wanted to mention that some makeup artists recommend every 6 weeks, but 6 months should be fine for safety. If your eyes start bothering you, it's a good time to throw out your mascara ;)
