The Mascara Thread

What kind of mascara do you guys prefer to straight short eyelashes? I basically want volume. Thanks. :flower:

For volume i would recommend the YSL faux cils or the Lancome l'extreme. Those works well for me.:flower:

I have smaller lashes and I recently got Dior waterproof Blackout and I'm so impressed with the brush and the mascara - I can put on more than with other mascaras, my lashes look a bit longer, fuller and the brush always keeps my lashes nicely separated ^_^ - and, the mascara doesn't go anywhere all day - great for work and I can touch it up more in the evening if I want.

I bought Chanel exceptionnel the other day and I'm quite happy with it, as it doesn't clump. My lashes are very long, so after curling them with the Shu Uemura eyelash curler I only need some colour and definition.

But I must say I really like this brush <3

It works for me, but it's not a mascara for "extremely spectacular" lashes. It's like for very noticeable lashes but in a natural way, what I was looking for.

My problem is that my lashes are 100% straight with absolutely no curl. It takes a lot of abuse with an eyelash curler to make them look decent, and if the mascara doesn't hold the curl...well. Not pretty. So it holds the curl? And does it come in waterproof?

It isn't waterproof, I think. And my lashes are the opposite as yours, so I can't really tell you if it'll work on you or not :(

Have you tried Lancome Virtuose The_Ida ? I have the exact type of lashes as yours, and Virtuose is very good on me. Also Double Extention Beauty Tubes works on my short straight lashes. But this one is kinda hard to apply though. But if you practice it's very good ! ^_^

Thanks! Haven't tried it, but that might be an idea! :flower:

Dior Iconic is amazing!
I had used Diorshow for the last couple of months and it was ok, but not as spectacular as I'd hoped. I tried the new Chanel and it didn't do anything much for me (but I think it was because they didn't have a new tester, I just tried a fresh brush in an old tube so it was quite dry). Iconic has just about every quality I want in a mascara! I have quite short lashes with some curl - it gives me length like I could only dream of! It holds the curl, gives volume if you apply a few coats, but it's not overwhelming and clumpy, and it definitely has staying power and doesn't flake on me. I got it in brown but I want it in black too. Does anyone have a problem getting it off though? I use Bioderma Crealine H20 to take off all my makeup, the Iconic just seems quite stubborn to come off. Is it easier with an oil based remover? :flower:

Oh just discovered this thread, how brilliant ^_^

At the moment I have Lancome's Hypnose, but Im not really that happy with it anymore, I wanted to give the new Calvin Klein one a try, any experiences with them ?
Or other mascara suggestion ? Hlp is much appreciated, thanks :flower:

I am now in dilemma so I am asking for Your help :bounce:

Which one is better for false eyelash (dramatic) effect - Dior Iconic or YSL Faux Cils? :shifty:

I just wanted to update on what I'd said earlier in the thread. I have now tried the Chanel mascara, and I have to say that Dior Iconic wins hands down on being far more spectacular in every way. I would love to know what people think of YSL Faux Cils though, it's on offer in my local superdrug so I may snap it up if its good.

Oh, and my lashes are very straight, almost to the point of pointing downwards, and they're thin and rubbish. Iconic gives me dolly eyes, and so does Elizabeth Arden Ceramide mascara, which has nowhere near the press it should do, it's amazing.

I love this thread- it's really helpful to read everyone's reviews and thoughts on mascaras.

At the moment I would say Iconic because my lashes look so different when I put it on. YSL is a good mascara though, just that I haven't used it in a long time so I can't make a good comparison - I did like the effect it gave though. It was elongated lashes and perhaps a bit thicker than Dior, but Dior looks more dramatically different on me at the moment. YSL has a more traditional brush so maybe if you prefer that kind, go for the Faux Cils. Do you have the opportunity to try both out?
