The Mascara Thread

#1279 Agreed! Telescopic is the best drugstore mascara I've used so far. The only thing I don't like about it is that its so wet. Then again, I rather have it wet above dry. It can get pretty messy, for me at least.

Phenomen'eyes by Givenchy is just brilliant, even though it takes a little longer to apply it amkes or lashes soooo long and it's zero sticky. It's genius.
I got this today and I totally agree, it's like magic in a tube! I've been looking for so long for a mascara that works like this one does I love it :D

Just out of curiousity, when you find a mascara you like, after you run out, do you buy that same one or do you try other mascaras? I found ones that I like (Diorshow, Hypnose) so that's all I've been using. I want to try others but not sure which to try.

^When I find one that works in the past I've stuck with them for a while until I saw something else that looked really good. With the new Givenchy one though I think I'm finished and I'll be sticking with it unless something super amazing comes out

I stick with what I know works, really. I am willing to try new things, I'd like to get my hands on Shiseido's mascara base for example

^Define A Lash is pretty good I used that for a while. It doesn't make them super long but it does separate them nicely like the name implies

I tend to do a bit of both. With many of the mascaras I have used in the last couple years, I have actually had small sizes of them to try from the GWP's, and I tend to buy the full sizes once I am done. In many cases though, I like to try new things. I have a few mascaras that I like, but I rarely have to buy mascara because of all the GWP sizes that I have.

I think i have used every "it" mascara and I must say the biggest disappointments were Diorshow and Le 2 de Guerlain. The best that I've been using for monthes now the Faux Cils by YSL. From drugstore mascaras I liked MaxFactor.

I bought Smoky Lash by Make Up Forever and oh my, I love it. It's really difficult to get it to go on perfectly, and it clumps easily, but when you put it on the proper way it looks AMAZING. I can tell such a difference between that and drugstore mascara. It does flake pretty badly, though, which is a shame because it looks SO GOOD when freshly applied.

I just recently picked up the Buxom Lash by Bare Escentuals due to rave reviews on Sephora.com, and I have to say that I am not entirely disappointed. The wand is very fat, and volumizes and lengthens my lashes quickly, but does tend to annoyingly feather at times.

i broke my dior iconic mascara and im devastated! i cant afford another one! :(

I've never broken a mascara in all the years I've been using it ... what about taking it back?

Btw ... how does Iconic compare to regular Diorshow?

Oh, Diorshow story ... snobby SA at Barney's (Cle de Peau) complimented my mascara & wanted to know what it was ... seemed disappointed to hear it was Diorshow--I guess she wanted to hear it was something really exotic

My new favourite is Prescriptives False Eyelashes mascara... It's overtaken Givenchy Captiv'Eyes on my favourites list!

^Hmmm, I might try that one since Prescriptives is having a 30% off + free shipping sale on their site. :)

Give it a go Lucy! I was going to re-buy YSL Faux Cils, but there was nobody at the YSL counter :innocent:

I'm a cheap make up person but I don't wear much so I guess it's okay. I like Max Factor 2000 calorie and Covergirl lashblast however I tried diorshow before at the make up counter and it didn't really do much..i mean it was nice but it wasnt like amazing as i expected it would be
