The Mascara Thread

I was browsing on Sephora last night and noticed some Dior DiorShow mascaras, and I was wondering if anyone ever used them before and what they are like before I spend 24$ (which is more canadian) on it..

Everytime someone mentioned Diorshow I have to rant about how much I hate it! I think because I was really disappointed.

It is hyped up a lot to be an amazing mascara, and when I used it the results were pretty good but it smudged horribly for me and smudges are not acceptable!

I hate clumpy, smudging mascara.

the one I have now is Sephora something, and it doesnt smudge, flake and its waterproof.

Any kinds that you guys would recommend though ?
I want to try a new brand now

For cheaper brands, Maybelline and L'Oréal are great choices. If you have the extra bucks, I suggest Dior and Lancôme. I never tried the YSL mascaras but they seem to be pretty good too.

I don't mind splurging a little more on mascara or stuff like that if I know that they are good.

I used cover girl for a long time, then got some maybelline, and then Sephora.
I wanna try something new

btw, is there a thread like this for eye liner?
I was wondering about the Calvin Klein liquid eye liner thing that I seen on Sephora's website..

For cheaper choices I prefer Loreal (LOVE the red & white one), too bad they are animal testing..

Dior and Lancome and Estee Lauder and Chanel. To me, Bobbi Brown's is not good. Smudges, smears....just don't like it.

Well Diorshow is popular so it works for some people, but I was not one of them!

My personal favourites are YSL faux cils - it can tend to be a bit sticky but there are no smudges and it does make my lashes feel really soft - and Exceptionnelle de Chanel mascara.

For a budget brand - I will always be loyal to Max Factor, both 2000 calorie and False Lash Effect.

Diorshow works for me, I haven't experienced any clumping or smudging at all (and I've been using the same tube for about four months ). It's so strange how it works so differently for different people.

omg i totally got really hyped when a bunch of my gf's raved about how great it is. but i had the same experience as you with the smudges and clumps and all, so i ended up just giving it away. (sigh...what a waste of $45 )

anyways...i find anna sui waterproof mascara perfect for me! it's totally smudge and flake proof, it seems like it's almost permanent on my lashes!

Could someone please explain the differences between the various Diorshow formulas? They seem to be multiplying like gremlins, and I'm confused.

To be honest, I think Diorshow is kind of overhyped... The first couple of times I use it I love how black it makes my lashes look, but then I remember how much it flakes

Really?? That is so strange, it doesn't flake on me at all Could you have gotten a really old tube or something?

I use DiorShow, but NOT Blackout. It is well nigh impossible to get off. It has 15x the pigment, and takes at least 3x the eye makeup remover in my experience.

I like it a lot, and I really regretted it when I decided to go cheap with a Maybelline XXL mascara--it made my eyelashes fall out (I guess that's what happened ), I cannot remember them being so short in my entire life. I went back to DiorShow, no more stumpy lashes.

PS It doesn't smudge on me either, but I wear it on my top lashes only.

I wanted to try something new and purchased wet n wild's lash intense mascara. I'm kinda wishing that I didn't but it's cheap so I'm not kicking myself.

Is there any kind of mascara sealer? I love my Make Up Forever Smoky Lash but it flakes like CRAZY!

^Benefit SheLaq, but I don't know if it prevents flakes. It's good for making a mascara more water-resistant.

There was no gold on mine, I think it was black and white, but based on my experience, I would buy something else ... anything else
