The Mascara Thread

Thanks for the info hautechild, i get the smudges too

peacelover142002 have you tried Bourjois Pump Up The Volume? It's one of the best 'cheaper' mascaras i've used.

I think I forgot to review Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Mascara  I got in WP and in brown, because I'm sick of black mascara. Too pale for that atm...

It's brilliant. It holds a curl so well (I actually thinks it even adds a little curl), and it separates like crazy. It does add a lot of volume (I should have included a before-picture, I know, but my lashes are really thin and 100% straight), and it would look very dramatic in black. These pics are without Shiseido Mascara Base underneath, I'm so addicted to it. It makes the lashes so full that they almost look fake, and it holds a curl perfectly (I really recommend it for everyone with stick straight wimpy lashes).

I'd definately buy this mascara over and over again...if I won the lottery.

...and it doesn't smudge the slightest. Ever. Not even if you forget to remove it before going to bed. :ninja:

the vibrating mascaras are such a load of bull imho.

theida - that mascara looks fab on you! i agree black would have been too harsh. it really does separate lashes...that's what i like thick, separated lashes...i don't care much about length.

i've had great luck with CG lashblast. it doesn't flake for me at all and it's a go-to for me even on hardly-any-makeup days when i go for a run, hit the market, etc. next up for me is the rimmel sexy curves which has an odd wand, but i'll work with it. i have yet to have such bad luck with drugstore mascaras that i go back to wanting lancome, dior, etc. i think the only high end mascara i haven't tried is YSL, and i desperately want that blue-grey someone posted. gorgeous!

ditto about the vibrating mascara if anything you get more clumps!
try the YSL ...it defintely gives you that blue/grey colour especially if you have dark lashes!! i wore it today , and a co worker said that my eyes look different...then at the elevator she was near to me and she looked at me and said" what colour is ur mascara?" i said " why? she was like " i am not sure if its a blue/dark navy has a hint of purple or grey, its just an interesting colour!" so i told its blue/grey and she went crazy about it!!!

Ida, wow your lashes look amazing!
I just got lancome amplicils waterproof mascara, cant wait to try it!

you should definately try YSL volume mascara.. it really gives u tons of volume and I personally liked it best after using it for 2 weeks

the only downside is that it gets dry rather quickly but when it's good it's amazing

What does everyone think of Urban Decay? I've seen it at Ulta, but I always thought it looked [horrendously] clumpy and thick.

I'm a fan of Diorshow Iconic myself. ^_^

Am I the only one who feels Diorshow mascara is a rip off?

I'm really hoping I got a bad batch because when I bought a tube from Sephora it was all clumpy, and it gave me major spider lashes. It also ran very easily.

I have always heard such good reviews of it though, so it suprised me.

After reading all these good things about YSL mascaras i'm definitely tempted. I was gonna go for the Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes. I really just want a mascara that will hold up the curl!

I can vouch for the Givenchy mascara being AMAZING. I have the most straight, miserable lashes and this mascara curls from the get go. Another unsung hero that I never see mentioned is Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Mascara that isn't actually sold as a curling mascara, but it curls more than anything I've ever used. It seperates, gives you dolly eyes and is pretty cheap too. Bonza!

You are not alone, I HATE it:yuk:

I had it once and was really underwhelmed by it, but then I kept reading on and on about it and decided to give it another shot to see if I might have remembered it wrong
but it was just as bad as the first time

It was good the first 20 minutes but after that my lashes went back to normal.. after a few hours it was as if I wasn't even wearing any mascara.. considering it's price, it's one of the worst mascaras I've ever had

and solg definately try it, for me it was great the first two weeks but after that it was AMAZING

it gives great volume

if it's bad feel free to send me the bill for it:p

wow it feels like I'm talking about something else here:brows:

i just recently bought givenchy phenomeneyes and although it does make my lashes look longer i find it quite sticky also it often puts too much mascara on even when iv tried to get all the excess off
am i using it wrong?

i have to try this! i also have very dark lashes.

is it LE? i hope i can still find it. what is the color/kind of mascara in case i have to order over the phone? :flower:

Ugh. When i decided to get the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils (i've read some amazing reviews on it), i can't find it any place that sells YSL products around where i live! I'm gonna keep looking, but if i have no luck i'm gonna go with the Givenchy one.

Thanks saann and Mindbear

i strongly suggest YSL...if you couldnt find it in ur stores, order it online sephora.com, amazon.com, strawberry.net and saks.com they all have ysl mascaras

^ Yes, buying it online was an option, although it would gonna end up costing me lots more since i live in Argentina. But thanks!

EDIT -- It seemed like YSL products are not entering the country for some reason, so i was gonna go for the Givenchy Phenom'Eyes. The saleslady at the store offered me to try the Lancôme Hypnôse to compare them, because she thought it would suit my needs better. It did! I tried both on and you can really see a difference between the two. I took a crappy pic, but even there you can tell the difference.

ida I actually have that mascara too, your post has reminded me to take it out and try it again. I used to think it didnt add enough volume and was too natural looking but now that I have longer lashes it's perfect when I'm doing very light eye makeup. Diorshow iconic extreme is great when I'm doing smoky eyes but can look a little spider eyed with natural makeup. The leopard print container is really cute too.

anyone tried new maybelline , lancome vibrating knock-off, mascara ? we do not have it in poland yet but i assume that it will be in short time so i wondering about buying one.

please give me opinion :)
