The Mascara Thread

I don't know, this might be the worst advice ever but sometimes I put just a tiny drip of water (very little or else it won't work) in the mascara when it gets too thick real quickly

Maybe some people consider that it helps bacteria grow, but I don't use mascaras for years, so I usually do that, if it becomes too dry.) Also tried it with YSL, but the result was not better than before it.. Though I like the smell of this mascara, not chemical.

I almost always comb eyelashes before mascara dries, because it really make it better. Although I prefer using old mascara brush, for me it works better than combs. There are brushes for lashes, which look like this , I find them more helpful.

I have Givenchy Phenomen Eyes mascara at the moment, but I'm not sure if I like it or not.
It makes my lashes look really great, but it doesn't last as long as I expected.

i've been using YSL volume effet faux cils for a few weeks now, and i have to say i'm not impressed - i'm not sure if it's how i'm applying it or what, but i am truly disappointed, which is mystifying and confusing me because everyone else on here seems to love it!

Has anyone tried NYX Doll Eye Mascara? The reviews on makeupalley.com were fairly decent. I may give this mascara a try.

Well a little tip for anyone whose mascara is prone to drying on them prematurely: Instead of putting the brush in the tube and pumping up and down, but it down once and swirl and twist instead. Otherwise you're just pumping it full of air.

I got Diorshow Iconic today and so far I'm really pleased with it. Regular Diorshow did nothing great for me but this one seems to work well. I had to temporarily abandon my boyfriend Givenchy Phenomen'eyes bc the tube is really small and I noticed I was going back to Sephora like every week and a half-2 weeks to get more which is really annoying (I don't just mean I was running low on it I mean it was bone dry lol). Plus I'm going on vacation soon and can't risk running out of it away. I wish they just made a slightly bigger tube, I'm seriously considering writing in and requesting it or something, it's really a ridiculously small bottle but such a great mascara for me :(

After hearing all these positive reviews I am tempted to try Iconic! I have had an untouched gift certificate to Sephora for months, so I may have to get it.

Ach. I bought YSL Faux Cils, and it isn't anywhere near as good as Dior Iconic. I wish I'd got the Iconic Extreme. Bah.

So what's the major difference between regular Diorshow and Iconic? Because Iconic doesn't appear to come in plum and there's a slight price difference. Is Iconic that much better and why?

Iconic is similar to the regular diorshow, the main difference I see is that it separates better, looks less clumpy and more natural. There isnt a huge difference but it's definitely there.

Iconic Extreme is the waterproof version of iconic, theres no difference in the way it looks. After using latisse my lashes touch my lids when I blink so I've switched from iconic to iconic extreme and I'm very happy with it, although it is harder to take off at night.

i used to have the chanel exceptionel mascara in 10
but as soon as i got my hands on lancomes hypnose i could get past it.
its serisouly one of the best mascaras to have ever existed.
i've repurchased it 3 times already

I'm thinking about Kanebo 38C (= Sensai), I've heard good things about it, but I'm not really sure.. I'm interested because I want a mascara, which gives natural look (if you remember Dior Ultimeyes, which is not on the market now, you'll understand) AND washes off pretty well without special things, creams etc. Though they can not be resistant for warm sunny weather, rainy days and so on, like it happens in summer :)
So what can you say about Kanebo or is there any other mascaras like this?

so should i go with Iconic Extreme rather then the normal Iconic ?

anyone tried covergirl's lashblast??
or pretty much any drugstore's mascara that use a rubber wand?

I know this is an older response, but I definitely love Covergirl's Lashblast! I haven't used drugstore makeup in probably 15 years, but they were having a great deal at Costco (3 for $14) and firgured I can always return it.

The rubber wand may take some time getting used to, but it really shows you its all about the application because it goes on so well. I never had a problem with clumping, spider eyes, running, etc. This is definately the best drugstore makeup and my new HG.

I love Kanebo Sensai. If you're wanting to achieve a natural look, this is the mascara to use. The wand is great because it allows for a precise application. It has excellent staying power but is easy to remove with warm water. I highly recommend it!

kanebo reacts bad with cold weather, i know now in summer time it doesnt matter but in futher notice when it was -20 outside my lashes went clumpy and horrible, didnt happen with clinique naturally glossy or Dior or other
