The Mascara Thread

So within the past year I've developed a fondness for makeup video how-to's. Some makeup artists are just better than others and some really hold my attention and seem to really know what they're talking about. Recently I've discovered the pixiwoo channel on youtube and it's actually more than one person, but every contributor is fabulous. I watch this video today and I love the concept of colored mascaras. She tested out Estee Lauder's Sumptuous Color mascara and showed all of the shades they offer. I was wondering if anyone has tried it out in any color. I'm highly interested.

Here's the video it's shown in:

I totally expected to see more about youtube makeup videos in this forum and was shocked that they weren't so popular. I started following Lauren Luke (panacea81) a year ago because my brother's girlfriend is really into makeup and she introduced me to the videos. There's some high quality stuff out there really.

i always use Dior Show and i adore it. but i got curious on the Dior Iconic and Dio Iconic Extreme.
what is the difference between the last two? should i rather get the regular Iconic or the Iconic Extreme? Or do you Dior-lovers stick to the Dior show?

The difference between them is Iconic is lenght and curl, the other one is the same, only then waterproof....

When you have the show, please keep that one, thats all in one mascara.

You guys convinced me about the Helena Rubinstein "Lash Queen". I absolutely love it. It even replaced the Clinique "High Impact Mascara" in my make-up-bag, which has been a stable of mine for years. What I like most about the HR -apart from the texture- is the color. It's more like a very dark grey, it's not so "flashy" like other brands and looks very natural. Also, it makes my lashes so soft, seperates perfectly and doesn't smudge (even when crying... )

I'm looking for a waterproof mascara, that I can wear to the beach in hot humid conditions and even take a quick dip in the water with... any suggestions?

Inimitable Waterproof by Chanel or the Lash Queen Waterproof 24hr wearing by Helena Rubinstein...

Both wont smudge...:woot:

i bought CG volume max (maroon tube?) at the drugstore when i was traveling recently and forgot mascara. it works surprisingly well and i am impressed with the brush. worth trying for $6.

I tried Maybelline's Stiletto Waterproof. Makes lashes look gorgeous. Gives them a nice length.

The only thing I dislike about it is the smell but other than that, works pretty good.

Doesn't replace my favorite mascara , which is Dior's Diorshow, but is definitely on my top 10 list.

My Top 5 at the moment:

1) BareMinerals Flawless Definition
2) Dior Diorshow
2) Exceptionnel de Chanel
4) Max Factor False Lash Effect
5) Rimmel Glam Eyes.

Lancome are pretty good too and my sister swears by Bare Escentuals Buxom mascara. Thinking of trying that Maybelline Lash Stilletto! I'm a complete mascara junkie.

How is the Diorshow waterproof mascara? Will it smudge or flake if going for a quick dip in the pool or out in hot weather?

I finally tried the Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen and I like it, especially how non-smudgy it is, but I prefer the way Eyes To Kill looks on my lashes more.

^Oh! I've been thinking about getting Eyes to Kill after I finish up my ewwy Bobbi Brown one!

Someone recommended Eyes to Kill on here and I definitely agree, it replaced YSL Faux Cils as my current favourite.

I just tried Chanels Inimitable and I am very disappointed so far,
I don't know I might not have found the 'right way' of applying it yet

so far it's very much like any other mascara :/

Yay! Have you tried the Diorshow Iconic? (and if you have, how do you think it compares?)
