^Definitly. Rupert Grint was adorable too. It's funny, because that movie came out when I was in first grade or so, and I remember thinking that they were all so mature ^_^

^ Rubert is sexy now and my future husband. He and I are making a mess of red headed kids. I know because I am a red head as well!

i've finally seen the movie, yay! :D

overall i really liked it, i loved the dark atmosphere and enjoyed the funny parts as well! ron and the love potion was hilarious!!!

even though the whole harry-ginny-thing was introduced pretty early, i wasn't really rooting for them... and to be honest i thought it was actually introduced too early! i mean there's never been anything between them and then he arrives at the burrow, they hug and they already look at each other a little uncomfortable after a friendly hug? unfortunately i cannot remember how their relationship started developing in the book, but i remember i was rooting for them while i was reading!

also ron and hermione, was she that upset and crying and jealous from the start right after he and lavender kissed? i honestly cannot remember, i thought that it wasn't all that obvious so early in the books, both ron&hermione and harry&ginny and hermione knowing about how harry feels about ginny, but i could be mistaken
but except for the early obviousness in ron's and hermione's case i liked all the signs throughout the movie, for example when he's in the hospital wing and mumbling her name , and i cannot wait for them to get together :p

hope it won't be as childish as harry&ginny in the room of requirement, i mean "close your eyes" ... come on!!!

i hadn't imagined lavender to look like this, but she was histerical! totally exaggerated behaviour, but it suits the role lol.

draco was brilliant as well, arrogant as always, but then you could really see his desperation, i loved the scene in the boys' lavatory when he's having a breakdown and harry surprises him.

and dumbledore  i liked how they build up the suspense on the tower before it happened, but then it all went real quick  i think harry could have been a little more, i don't know, desperate? and emotional ... but all the people raising their lighted wands was a nice gesture and during and after that scene the audience was extremely quiet, it was almost creepy!

and the special effects were awesome!!!!! we were sitting in the 4th row and the scenes of the death eaters flying through london at the very beginning made me a little dizzy :p but i loved how the ink of the memories in that basin (forgot its name) formed into buildings and things iykwim.

i agree with most of you that they should rather have put more about the horcruxes in the story instead of the love stories, but on the other hand they provided some funny moments and comic relief. and all the actors did a fantastic job!! can't wait for the last two films :D

and the special effects were awesome!!!!! we were sitting in the 4th row and the scenes of the death eaters flying through london at the very beginning made me a little dizzy
haha yeah i agree the effects were great!

i found myself most of the time wanting to see bellatrix:ninja:
i dont think they could have cast a better person to play her!
and i would have liked to see more details about the horcruxes and stuff i was so excited for that!

but yeah i thought it was a great watch i really enjoyed it!

Right now that HBP is out lets get back to DH gossip -

Jamie Waylett won't return for Deathly Hallows

We've received a report, from an attendee at Muggle Mayhem, a Harry Potter convention which took place this weekend in Northampton, England, stating that Joshua Herdman confirmed that Jamie Waylett will not reprise his role as Vincent Crabbe for Deathly Hallows. Furthermore Joshua added that it is his character, Gregory Goyle, that will die instead.

Instead it will be Blaise Zabini played by Louis Cordice. This was confirmed by some fans who had a set visit (see more details in next post).

I personally think that this is really out of order. Ok so the guy got caught growing you know what (starts with d and rhymes with hugs) but he has gone to court and will do his community sentance work. You can't keep on punishing the guy forever. He didn't kill anyone.

And yeah yeah I know that WB have got to be seen to do the "right thing" but if we really want to get into it Garry Oldman has had law trouble, Michael Gambon has a "second" family with his girlfriend and orginal Dumbledore Richard Harris reputation in the old days makes people like Colin Farell and other bad boys look like whimps. They aren't exactly amazing role models so there are major double standards going on if you ask me.

MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS MAJOR SPOLIERS

Ok so this is a very detailed onset report by two lucky fans. It does have DH spoliers through it so you don't want to know then just stop reading and skip when you come to any mention to DH cause this is a must read :flower:

Our Visit to Hogwarts

What you are about to hear is the literal culmination of a life long dream, interwoven with something so near and dear to our hearts and something that changed our lives forever. It’s no secret to those who know us, that Harry Potter is what brought Maria and I together. So, on our 1.5 year wedding anniversary, what better way could we spend it by taking a trip to the actual, physical world of Harry Potter?

We arrived at Leavesden Studios just before 11am in the morning. I gave our names to the guard and to my great relief and surprise (because I was still thinking this too good to be true), they were on his list. After signing our life away, a call was made and our guide showed up to show us around. This wasn’t a tour guide, but someone who actually works on the films. Not only that, but an avid Harry Potter book fan as well, as became readily evident within moments of our journey into Hogwarts. The three of us loaded into a van, driven by a fantastically knowledgeable fan and employee of the studio, for a tour of the backlot first. We did our best to remember everything we saw, but some of it may be out of order. Still, here is a breakdown of what we saw.

The first thing we saw was a life sized Grawp on top of a building. That guy is HUGE! From there, we went on to Grimmauld place. It had just been used as Baker Street in the new, Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes film and was being repainted for Deathly Hallows. From here, we drove past the Hogwarts courtyard that was being worked on and also the entrance to Malfoy Manor. It has a huge hedge (~15 feet tall) and two large, stone pillars flanking either side of the entrance. They apparently did one or two nights of shooting on this set. This set was used for the scene where the Snatchers take Harry and the others to Malfoy Manor. There was also mention of a white peacock at the animal wrangling section and this was probably there for the Malfoy Manor exterior. I hope they are keeping this much detail from the books!

We drive past the entrance to the Hogwarts grounds. Remember the scene in HBP where Luna and Harry pass through the gates? That’s the set we saw.

We drove onto a giant airstrip where we saw two of the Knight Buses, as well as several large wrapped up objects that said “Astronomy Tower” on them. Couldn’t see through the plastic though. Just down from this was Hagrid’s Hut, which was in ruin as it had been destroyed in the last film (and perhaps again in this film). Right across from this was another set, but not something we recognized from the books. It appeared to be a bunch of burned trailers / mobile homes. Apparently this is a scene where Harry and Hermione show up at a camp site only to see it’s been attacked by Death Eaters.

After this we saw a grassy knoll. Not sure what scene that was used for… we’re guessing a camping scene. After this, we saw the actual Burrow!! Well, the first floor or so, as the rest is CGI. They were “planting” the tall, reed like grass (like what we saw in the swamp scene in HBP). Each of the stalks of grass is individually pushed into a foam base, and there were something like 9000 of them that have to be done. One part of the base was purple. I always remembered it being brown from the films, but I’ll have to go back and watch again.

We turn the corner and right there in front and to our right was Privet Drive! They had been doing the seven Potter scenes there. From what we were told, it sounded as if they will use makeup on the actors to make them look like Dan, at least for some part of the scene. I would imagine a lot of digital work would also be done here, but that’s just a guess as well.
We got a very close and impressive look at Luna’s house. It looked like a stone base of a tower… just about 15 feet tall. Again, CGI would be used to complete the house. Rocks jutted up around the front yard. Growing up the front of the house was a tree, and the left side was covered with vines and bright orange plants. Our driver, who was extremely knowledgeable on what was going on, said these were the Dirigible Plums. They had recently filmed a fight scene here and the right side of the house was pitted with holes where Death Eater spells had hit the house (squib explosions). They were prepping the house again for a much bigger version of that fight, apparently. They were adding even more squibs for the new fight.
That was pretty much the extent of the backlot tour.

The driver dropped us off at the canteen, and we began our tour inside. In the canteen were a series of large displays of props from all of the films thus far. Each giant, glass fronted box contained costumes and props from one film, and would be the ultimate collection for any Potter fan. I would give just about anything to have any one of these in our house! In the Philosopher’s (Sorcerer’s) Stone display, we saw brooms, money, a snitch, a quaffle, a troll head (huge), chocolate frogs and boxes, and a massive pile of wand boxes. The Chamber of Secrets display had Lockhart books, Lockhart paintings and pictures, Mandrake plants and Dobby. Dobby looked SO real!! Prisoner of Azkaban had Sirius’ prison costume, his wanted posters, Trelawney’s crystal ball, Harry’s Grim teacup (complete with Grim shaped tea leaves) and loads of Honeydukes products. Goblet of Fire had the Tri-Wizard trophy, Krum and Fleur’s costumes, a giant silver trophy, a Grindylow and a mermaid. The Order of the Phoenix display had Umbridge’s costume and Lucius’ Death Eater costume (amazing), several kitten plates and decrees as well as the Defense Against the Dark Arts book Umbridge hands out. Finally, the Half-Blood Prince display had Slughorn’s costume and Luna’s party dress, the green hourglass from Slughorn’s office (what I would have given for a photo of that), several Weasley Wizard Wheezes products and the cursed necklace.

On to the sets. Words will not adequately describe the awesomeness of this (or any of the visit really). The first thing we saw was the Room of Requirement, similar to what we saw in Half Blood Prince. Stacks upon stacks of furniture, books, potions and whatnot (including several chess pieces from Philosopher’s Stone) were everywhere. Here we got to see a bit of filming that involved the stunt doubles for Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Louis Cordice (Blaise Zabini). They were perched atop one of the stacks of furniture and rigged into a harness. Just to the right of these guys, but not used in this scene, was Hagrid/Sirius’ flying motorbike mounted on a rig and lifted off the ground.

When they cut, we slipped into the set and skirted around the edge. Around the corner from the stunt doubles and through the gap between two stacks of stuff was Tom Felton and Louis Cordice. We got to watch the playback monitors for the scene they had just shot. One of the monitors shows the actors exchanging dialog, while the other was an overhead shot of them walking through the stacks. Just as we walked out, we saw the banners for the Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms. Even though we weren’t suppose to, we couldn’t resist and quickly sneaked a touch to both.

We went from here to another stage and saw Bathilda Bagshot’s house. They have done a body cast of that actress and made a snake skin. Take from that what you will.

Straight across, literally no more than 20 feet, was Shell Cottage! There was a conservatory attached to it, with shells covering the walls and ceiling of the actual house (like what we’ve seen previously on the beach). There was also a blue and white armchair sitting outside the house, and the grounds around the house were covered with hay colored grasses and sand. All of this was punched into and covering a thick layer of foam (ahh, movie magic).

Hogsmeade Village was next. It was winter there. We were just looking at it when a group walked across the snow covered ground (which was really a sand like substance we later found in Maria’s shoes when we got home…. can you say souvenir?!) While signs said to stay off the snow, we were told it was OK to go through. We actually got to walk THROUGH HOGSMEADE!!!! Un-believable! I could have died. There were a few store names, but sadly we can’t remember them. One was a book shop that Maria thinks is mentioned in one of the books. As we came to the end of the village, there was an open section (open to accommodate cameras and shooting) of The Hog’s Head pub. Fantastic!!

We just missed getting into Dumbledore’s office, but we did get to see the entrance into it with the giant statue. Apparently there are two of those. One is on a turntable and rotates. This was a stationary version. Still, it was huge and very impressive.

We walked past a Hogwarts corridor that housed the entrance to the Room of Requirement where we’ve seen Filch sit. Sitting to the side was a fireplace from the Ministry of Magic, and next to the door we were going through was the (unfortunately) boxed up memory cabinet. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful movie props I’ve ever seen. If I could have managed it, I would have dashed out with it. Unfortunately, it’s massive and I’m too honest.

The last, but certainly not least, set we visited was the Great Hall. We actually walked through the doors of Hogwarts (touched those), into the entry way with the steps leading to the moving staircase (not present) and through the doors (touched those too) into the Great Hall itself. Un-Freakin’-Believable!!! The set wasn’t dressed, meaning that the student’s tables were not present. The staff table as well as the house points were there. This is where we both got a new appreciation for the detail put into the set. There are details you would not believe. For example, the fireplace has the Hogwarts crest and the house crests carved into the brick behind where the fire would be, as well as all around the wooden mantel above and around the fireplace. The iron insert where the fire sits also had small, intricate reliefs of several of the house symbols (touched those). You would never see any of this in the films, but it’s there just as it would be in real life. The stained glass behind the staff table is also the Hogwarts crest. I don’t remember seeing this before in the films, but it’s possible that it was shown. On the wall behind the house points and the equivalent wall opposite (I think this is the door leading to the trophy room) were faded, mural like paintings. Think of what faded Egyptian paintings look like and you get the idea. We walked up the steps and to the staff table (touched that too, right where Dumbledore sits). If you face the staff table, to the right was a thick, blue crash mat. I’m guessing some sort of stunt was or would be performed here. Our guide didn’t know.

That sums up the sets as best I can. It’s so hard to capture the total awesomeness that it was to walk through and see all of it in person. THE DETAILS!! OMG! From here we got a tour of many of the departments that work on the film, including props, makeup, art finishing, wigs, and mold making. I’ll just sum up some of the things we saw:
  • The Hungarian Horntail Dragon (equipped with an actual flame thrower in its mouth)
  • Two different Fawkes (Dumbledore’s phoenix)
  • A dead Dobby (blood on his clothes and sand still on his skin from use on the beach shoot. So sad to see this, as he was unbelievably life like and real)
  • An enormous Basilisk skeleton. Above it an artists’ sketch of the skeleton, in the Chamber, with Ron and Hermione standing next to it.
  • A terrifyingly realistic dead Dumbledore body. This took our breath away when we rounded the corner and saw it on the shelf. Again, something very emotional to see. It was scaled down smaller than lifesized, as it was created for a scene where Hagrid was to carry him. Apparently this wasn’t shot so the body wasn’t used
  • Gabrielle and Hermione’s Goblet of Fire models used in the underwater scene
  • A model of Katie Bell from Half-Blood Prince (when she gets cursed by the necklace)
  • Another Katie model that was repurposed for a Greyback scene in Deathly Hallows
  • Life sized Buckbeak, Thestral and Mermaid
  • Lupin as a werewolf (much bigger than I thought… probably 6.5 to 7 feet tall), the Grim and an early design model of the Grim
  • Loads of different Centaurs and Greyback models and prosthetics
  • Loads and loads of goblins. Apparently a big goblin scene was coming up to be shot. We were also warned, upon the start of the tour, to watch out for goblins on Segways, but sadly we didn’t get to see that sight
  • Pictures of Ron turning into Reg Cattermole. From the looks of this, they will actually be putting very realistic prosthetic makeup on Rupert. In the final stage makeup picture of him, you would not recognize him as Rupert
  • Photos and sculptures of Dan’s hexed makeup where he’s hexed to hide his identity from the Snatchers. This looks amazing! The right side of his face is all lumpy and deformed. It’s hard to see Dan under this makeup
  • The Dementor dummy we see the DA practice with in the Room of Requirement. There was also the visual effects Dementor stand in. It’s basically a bluescreen blue Dementor torso mounted on a backpack harness. This is, of course, taken out later and a CGI Dementor put in its place
  • The dead Aragog we saw in Half-Blood Prince. They were using it as a reference for a new, larger giant spider that was being carved for Deathly Hallows
  • An animatronic hog’s head that was used in front of the Hog’s Head pub
  • The shriveled up, fetus like Voldemort we saw cast into the cauldron in Goblet of Fire. CREEPY!!!
  • Hagrid’s head with goggles for riding the motorbike, the underbody fat suit the actor and doubles wear, and a fully animatronic head used in scenes when Hagrid is in the background but still needs to appear lifelike. The amazing thing about this head (and really all creatures) is that each hair is individually punched into the silicone face. Hagrid’s beard actually has a specific mix of different colored hairs. The look is so specific and unique, yet each hair has to be individually punched and glued into place. Again this piece was disturbingly life like. I expected it to move or start talking at any minute
  • A cast of the actor who plays Dudley. The actor has grown up and become so tall and thin that they have to make facial prosthetics and a fat suit to make him look the part
  • The sculpted bust of Rowena Ravenclaw and the diadem perched atop her head. Stunningly beautiful detail!
  • The Magic is Might sculpture. Sculpted by the same artist that did the Rowena bust. Unbelievable! Enormous wizards stand atop a block platform that is being held up by a multitude of other people
After the tour, we went to the canteen to have lunch with our guide and the rest of the crew. While there, our heads were whipping left and right as we saw Rupert, James and Oliver (one of which had a bandage over his head and ear), Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), Emma, Tom, Bonnie and Evanna (both sporting hair nets so as not to mess up their ornate hair… presumably for the wedding scene about to be filmed), Stan (Krum… who sat at the table next to us and ate lunch by himself), Warwick Davis and his son, Domhnall Gleeson (had prosthetic scars on the left side of his face), several wedding guests and actor’s doubles. One of those was, we firmly believe, was Xenophilius’ double. He was wearing mustard colored corduroys, a pale shirt with a yellow waist coat over the top that was covered in flowers and shoulder length blondish-white hair. I didn’t get a close enough look to see if he was sporting the Deathly Hallows symbol or not. Booo.

Overall, this was a day that neither myself or Maria will ever forget. This is something we will tell our children and grandchildren one day. It indeed was magical, and beyond our wildest imaginations or dreams. It was a very apropriate way to spend our 1.5 year anniversary. In spite of the essay I just wrote, words really don’t do it justice.

The pain we fans feel about the ending of this era, and the fact that most of the things we saw today will be destroyed, is echoed by the crew. It borders on being a tragedy, really. A piece of history will be reduced to rubble when production finishes. Sad. But we walk away with fantastic memories, and hopes that when the movie does wrap, some of these things we saw and touched might just make it out in one piece and live forever in our home as well as in our heart.

DH Update from The Leaky Cauldron

Agent Confirms Harry Melling Back Again as Dudley Dursley for Deathly Hallows

Widely expected and previously reported, the Dursleys will indeed seen in the final films with the agents for Harry Melling recently updating his page with word that he will reprise his role once again as Dudley Dursley for Deathly Hallows. This of course follows previous confirmation from Richard Griffiths last year that he would be back as Uncle Vernon, with Fiona Shaw also expected to return as Aunt Petunia.

Jason Isaacs on Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: "A Pretty Nasty Fall From Grace"

Actor Jason Isaacs discussed his role as Lucius Malfoy in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

He confirms he has completed filming on Malfoy Manor, and notes he will be back in a month or so to film those dramatic scenes with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). In a very reflective interview highlighting his true appreciation of the series by J.K. Rowling, Jason speaks of the humiliation Lucius Malfoy endures in Deathly Hallows, noting the character has his legs cut out beneath him and suffers "a pretty nasty fall from grace," also remarking that Lucius loses his wand.

Jason also weighs in on Half-Blood Prince, where he gives his thoughts on the differences that place in the film and script versus the novel involving Harry being frozen on the Astronomy tower.

He also says that the split point of DH is indeed a 'cliffhanger' but declines to reveal the point as all actors are legally bound not to reveal this, as they have signed a confidentially agreement.

--------

And last but not least the "Seven Potter's" scenes have apparently been filmed.

^ I thought the split point was already revealed?

I can't wait to see the Seven Potters scene. I hope they show Harry's awkwardness

Just found these of Miss Luna Lovegood - celebutopia

and these of Slughorn - celebutopia

Luna is really brilliant. I like her books but she was even better in movies.
