Bella Couture, I just Googled and I got a whole list of places. Easy.

Courtney is the wife of a doctor yet she's not slapping on the SPF25+? That sunburn on her face is dreadful. And I'm guessing there was a very presentable jacket to go over that shirt, and it should have stayed on.

Mrs Arnot needs a size larger blouse. Nice to see Mrs Kempner being honored, she was rail-thin but one of my style icons.

Mrs. Arnot does look like she's got sun damage, as do several New York UES social types (do a Google Image search on Elizabeth Meigher and Somers Farkas to see what I mean) and her breastasiz (sic) do seem strained in the shirt, now that you look at it.

I also like the lady in the middle's style. I'm a sucker for silk shantung. My mom, who is nearly 80, would look great in that jacket.

Mrs Farkas is another lady I always check out, despite the differences in out body types, and she does always look well-baked. I'm afraid she'll end up with the skin that looks like shoe leather that I see some older ladies with here in Vegas.

Is that a look she and the other ladies are pursuing or is it just a result of skiing/tennis/etc without adequate SPF?

I am not sure if it's deliberate pursuit or a result of outdoor activities sans SPF. I hope it's not deliberate because it's not terribly attractive.

As I've said before, Somers has grown on me, I think because she's tall, same with Nan Kempner. Although I am a tall pear, I tend to look at thinner tall people in general for ideas.

I know women who really believe they look better and younger with what to you and me is clearly sun-damaged skin :innocent:

The pink jacket would actually be quite a good plus-size look, as long as one is not tooo well-endowed ...

I have to co-sign your last point, having not been tooo well-endowed over the years.

I am now between a B and C cup after years of being between A and B. I generally wear 38 bras w/extenders because I'm biased toward strapless. I've not been able to find a good strapless above a 38.

More plusish folks, NYSD,

Audrey Smaltz (center), is a 70-something fashion celebrity who once was the Ebony Fashion Fair commentator and lived for 14 years with jazz great Lionel Hampton.

Christine Smith Gray and Alison Smith. The execution is off, although I love wrap dresses, and Mrs. Gray needs an uplifting bra:

Jilly from Philly

Jill Scott at "Why Did I Get Married?" premiere, Yahoo! News. I couldn't find a full-length photo. Her skin glows and I love the curls:

From what I can see above, Jill's outfit looks good on her. She has plenty of upper arm coverage, the v-neck is flattering and her smile is gorgeous. She looks darn good!

I think courtney's shirt fits her fine. There is no pulling across the chest or stomach and if she went up a size i think it would just make her look bulky. She just had bad posture. Are there any pics of the mulleavy sisters? I think one of them would be considered plus sized....

^ Oh, please don't bring up the Mulleavys & start that conversation again :innocent:

Here's what's wrong with the fit of Courtney's shirt:
  • See the extra fabric billowing out at the top?
  • Pulling around yoke
  • Highlighting of that ... I don't know what it's called, but the roll of fat between the bustline and the tummy
I suspect she may have gained a couple pounds since she bought the shirt, and it used to fit better. (Or maybe the cleaners shrank it ...)

Button-front shirts are a dicey proposition for well-endowed women, but a ruched shirt might do the trick for Courtney ...

You did get that she's the lady on the left in the white shirt, right? Aside from the fit problems fashionista-ta pointed out, the sleeves seem a little tight and short at the wrist. With her arm extended like that, I think a French cuff should sit a little differently. But it's a candid shot & it's hard to tell.

That roll aroun her tummy seems to be a muffin top, which means her pants aren't quite large enough either. Maybe it's a little extra bloat she's carrying.

Been a while

I've had other things on my mind (drama with my car and other stuff heating up).
But I have to give you Oscar winner Jennifer Kate Hudson arriving at an ALS gala in New York, from Yahoo.com:

LOVE Jennifer's dress! All I'd seen were the press pix of her blowing kisses, couldn't see much of the dress in those. (And she looked silly posing that way.) No ALT n sight this time, hmm.

Hope the drama and car trouble blow over soon for you, too.

^I tried on some of the Rachel Pally stuff too. It was cute but the prices . Well, lets just say I am not going to be getting any of that any time soon

I tried the long caftan dress that Nordstrom is selling. I'm 6ft and am always in a high heel so I felt I could pull it off. The material was comparable to knit items I've gotten for $20 at target. I am generally an 18 and I got the 1x...2x would have been too big. The fit felt like a tent dress/moo moo on me so I returned it. My figure just felt lost in it. I didn't feel fabulous in it enough to spend $300+. If I ever see it on sale in the shorter length I may try that. I did see the long dress recently on ebay in the $100s.

I agree, try a 2x or 18w. I buy a lot of this size on ebay....I find items from Neimans, Bloomies, Nordstrom, and Saks on there at a fraction of the retail price. Try Anne Klein size 2x coats. I got a lovely red wool coat by her for my grandma last year and she loved it.
In the US XXL isn't a common size. (It if were I'd probably be able to find a lot more items to fit me.) Most cloting lines usually stop at L or XL. XL is usually considered to be size 14-16 or just size 16 US; XXL would then be size 18 US. More often you will find that size 18 US is labeled size 2X.

UK sizing is tricky for me to translate but I believe you can just add 2 to the US size. For example: US 8 equals UK 10. It may not work exactly like this but it's close.

I'm afraid that I haven't noticed companies that ship to continental Europe. Have you tried Luisaviaroma? Matches in the UK?

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I wanted to try.:flower:

I think you add four to get UK sizes, not 2.

Also, are there any designers who focus on plus sizes only? Do you think one day, these designers will be invited to major Fashion Weeks, rather than doing local shows, if at all?

There was a guy named Richard Metzger who did high-end RTW in sizes 12 to 22. He got some attention earlier this decade and in the late 1990s, when Mode existed. He did work for Oprah (when she was heavier), Camryn Manheim, Emme and Queen Latifah. I haven't heard much from him lately.

When it comes to fashion houses (not necessarily designers), Marina Rinaldi (a MaxMara unit) and Elena Miro come to mind. I think Miro was at a Milan Fashion Week...I can remember seeing pics elsewhere on tFs.
