Darn this 10minute edit period. I'm not a fast thinker! LOL

When I say look for the right neckline, I mean that there are lots of different necklines on offer so you should try to find the right one for you. I have wide shoulders, so boatneck/slash styles tend to make me look even wider. I finally settled on a not-too-wide or deep-cut square neckline. Also, try not to go for huge puffy sleeves, all that fabric adds to the look of the bust and your overall size. Lastly, to really avoid the pregnant look, find a style that does not have a lot of fabric gathering below the bust - you want a clean flat look so nothing with pin tucks, etc. unless it's really cute and yet flattering.

There's plenty of choice in this style, so look until you find the right upper body for you; the rest of the garment is just fabric that floats around you and should be no problem for someone to alter for you to be more shaped.

Just wanted to mention that ruching down the middle is a good minimizing feature. I avoid square necklines as they really accentuate my jaw & make me look like I have a square head  I think it was laika who pointed out that the 3/4 sleeves I favor (preferably slightly belled) do a good job balancing the bustline. If you get the volume (not toooo much) in your sleeves in the right place, it can be a good thing ...

Thank you very much for your inputs 3RingCircus and fashionista-ta :flower: I've never thought very much more about necklines than v-necks because I've got big boobs - it sounds like I should try being more bold and imaginative when I look for tops - quite exiting when I think about it actually. Never thought much about sleves either - exept I've avoided puffy sleves 'cos that just seems to make everything on me bigger

About necklines...I had a very different experience from fashionista-.ta's does any of you curvy girls finds out that ,oddly enough, squared necklines work better? because on me they do,or so it seems to me. especially for wool sweater,a 'collar' neckline fits really horrible for me,instead a squared necklines like this ( not that i much like this shirt,i just wanted an example for a squared neckline )

seems really to fit better, and 'squeeze' just my upper body a little
Also I find very flattering turtle neck sweaters, what about you?

I do all sort of necks, but on the other hand, my breasts are smallish (between B and C cup).

Queen Latifah:

I do all types of necklines as well but I do look best in a square neck or a surplice v-neck. Queen Latifah looks wonderful in the picture above. I like how the dress gently skims her waist with no clinging anywhere. That's a good design, material and fit.

I posted a bunch of tunic tops with different necklines. Where'd they go? I credited the source so what gives??!!

On another board, I picked up a note that singer Jill Scott may be featured in upcoming Allure and Vogue editions. Since Conde Nast is not exactly in the vanguard of size-positive media, this is surprising.

Here's Jill at BET Honors:

I'm not wild about the dress. For some reason, I'd prefer a darker, richer chocolate or a jewel tone.

At a Red Cross benefit. She looks relaxed. Her pals, including Mark Gilbertson, look  Sorry, prep on men needs to be minimalist.

Damn. I know Lilly Pulitzer has a men's line now, but that doesn't mean that he should... Yikes.

Yikes indeed. Steven Stolman also does his super-preppazoid-Lilly thing for himself. I've seen some of the Lilly menswear and I say  to it. There was a pink and green blazer that some of my friends and I were saying that Al Reynolds (Star Jones' husband) would rock at AKA's upcoming centennial national conference. I'm sorry, wild prints and men don't work.

Sorry for the hijack.

^ I think Jill's dress above is not bad, better than lots of what we see ^_^ But I feel it could do without the paillettes.

At least he'd have an excuse...? I have a hard time relating to anything Lillly for men beyond a tie. Wild prints on men? If they're on a tropical vacation, or going to see Jimmy Buffet. Otherwise, YIKES.

(To hijack further, you're AKA, right? And isn't blkladylaw? Congrats on your organization's 100th anniversary.)

I do have a thing for Lilly, and have my eye on this eBay item, tho that drawstring waist gives me pause. With my hips & rump, I'm really not sure. At least I have 4 days to decide.
