The Row - The All-Things The Row Thread

I love it! I always believed they had great taste and I think it really shows here. the subtly and minimalist approach is a breath of fresh air in terms of new york/american designers.

that video is just gorgeous! I really love the way everything is set out from the pool to the rug on the bed. I find it really funny though when people call chic boring, its not about having a billion things going on its simple and minimalistic at its best!

these two adult before their time kids are ugly and aint no model anything...they are just exploiting and know how to work the hollywood machine. ......they are too boring for words......look at them.....cant act and hunch backed teenagers?? !!!please !!

Just to remember you that this thread is not an appreciation thread but something about their line so no one here cares if you think they're ugly, can't act and blahblah ...

First of all, if you're going to write something critical, could you do it correherently?!:innocent:

Secondly, their line "THE ROW", which by the way this thread is dedicated to, is the complete antithesis to a 'hollywood/celebrity line'. The Olsens haven't shown their collection in a runway presentation (like most celebrity lines) because the ROW is a line of couture-basics, so to speak - its simple but its impeccably tailored and constructed.

Their pieces may be boring to some, but mostly because they don't understand the couture techniques that went into the construction of these garments. The Olsen's have experience and knowledge when it comes to designing and creating clothes, and this is painfully obvious in the high-standard of workmanship the Row collection has.

:flower:^_^

If we judged art and creations purely on the personal lives of the creators then suffice to say, a lot of the greatest and most successful works would have been long buried under scrutiny.

In short, their personal lives have nothing to do with this. You like the clothes or you don't like the clothes. You like the concept or you don't like the concept. It's pretty simple. This isn't a question of ethical consumerism, you're discussing something that doesn't even belong in this thread. It is irrelevant.

Made some for you :flower: ^

true .... to an extent.
if you are t alking about a trained designer who went thro formal training or some informal training ....at least some form of hands on experience in design.

somehow i dont think these two kids have any of these qualities other than shopping and dressing up ......... as stylists ......[ are they even that i wonder..?] i suspect their experiences in life and wat they have seen or not seen and lived or not lived is an important determining factor in their fashion "sense ".......

yes this thread is about a fashion - and its an objective task to like or nont like the clothes BUT also as a fashion thread we must also provide an insight on the background and history of the designer ..... that IMO is an important angle for fashion commentators ..otherwise we can just all go to Topshop or HM where there is no need to have a "name " ie nameless /faceless fashion ....as oppose to a personality ...i wld say ditto to people like LAMB /pdidddy/et al.

lets face it this is yet another attempt by these kids to milk their franchise ..which is very clever indeed .......BUT dont make it sound that they are fashion designers - theyy are not ...that would be an insult to those who spent years toiling for their craft.

Sorry, but since when did calling someone "ugly", "boring" and "hunch-backed" constitute providing an insight into a designer?!:huh:

And secondly, Ashley interned for Zac Posen, and has been designing clothing since her early teens!!

^ Well they didn't really design in their teens, they employed designers and then those designers would present the peices to them and they would approve if they liked it or not.

^^True. They never sought formal training of any kind in design to my knowledge. Didn't they major in film at NYU?

The clothes seem like very well-made basics but I don't think the pricing is justified at all.

I'm not talking about their line that is sold at Walmart - I'm talking about in general - the Olsens have designed their own looks ie. the leather jacket Ashley designed when she was 14 ;)
