So I finally saw The Social Network.
Surprise, surprise, I really liked it. Maybe even loved it. It was nothing like what I thought it would be and everything I didn't expect it to be. Very engaging, fast-paced, engrossing and just all around captivating. Gotta give credit to director David Fincher and writer Aaron Sorkin, they really managed to tell the story in the best way possible. The acting was great too, for the most part. Both Jesse and Andrew did a phenomenal job with their characters. Armie Hammer too, I really enjoyed the twins, lol. I'd nominate all three of them for the Oscars. Ladies too, although nobody had a substantial role, they did great. The only thing that bugged me about the whole thing was the presence of Justin Timberlake. I get it that his character was supposed to be a jerk, and that people were supposed to hate him, but I hate him on a whole different level. He just played himself here. And I can never get over how effeminate he is. Does nobody else see this, lol?
The story itself is really, kinda sad. I haven't really stayed on top of this, but how closely did the movie portray what actually happened? I can't imagine Mark Zuckerberg being happy at all with his portrayal because he came out looking the worst. I don't know if he is an ******* or just trying to be one but he certainly acted like one. At the very least he 'borrowed' some ideas from the twins and it was shady how we went about ignoring them for so long so that he could get a head start. His relationship with Mark is the most upsetting though. Even though I can see where Eduardo was in the wrong about the company, he still was there for Mark and he did contribute the money for Mark without which none of this all would've been possible. It's terrible what money does to families and friendships.
So after watching the movie, I can't see it NOT winning the Oscars for Picture, Director, Screenplay. It's so relevant of today's times, it's brilliant and it's hip.
ETA: The only thing I didn't quite enjoy (aside from Timberlake) was that the movie makes it look like the whole facebook was about this girl that broke up with Mark at the beginning. It was all about her. Not sure if that's how it happened, but I doubt it.
