chaky, great win for chakvetadze over petkovic today.

I know! :D I'm so pleased for her. This is a big win for her given where she's ranked right now.

Also means a second round match-up with Serena, maybe on Centre Court in front of the Queen. No pressure! (Anna's leading the H2H  ).

I had a great day yesterday by the way. Weather was pretty much perfect but really hot early on. Stayed mainly on Court 2 where I saw Clijsters, Mardy Fish, Schiavone and Hewitt. :woot: Saw many other players too including Nadal, Cilic and Henin on the practice courts. Was hoping to see some of Justine's match but it clashed with Hewitt and there was really no way to get onto Court 12 without queuing for ages. Lleyton's fanatical supporters are pretty funny and his wife definitely seems to like them as she was laughing at some of their chants. Stayed till about 9.30 after watching another Brit, Katie O'Brien, crash out.

I took a million photos as usual so I'll check later if there's any good ones and post them up.

^looking forward!

and today keothavong lost too.

ah and poor sam. she admitted before that grass is not her favourite surface because she feels rushed on it. i was rooting for her as i said but at the same time so soon after RG on a different surface it is rather difficult to adjust. alas, hard courts await...

glad sveta fought through. struggled mightily but won. and flavia had an easy match. now that sam is not in that half of the draw, flavia has a big opportunity to sneak through to the quarters.

btw,did anybody else notice the familiar name on today's schedule? mirjana lucic! a semifinalist at wimby in 1998(beaten by graf)she plays azarenka. i haven't seen her in a long time. a lot of talent but sadly she kind of faded away after 2001. nice to see her back. she had a style that was very similar to jelena dokic.

1999 wasn't it? I don't really remember seeing that run of hers though (I was a student with no TV at the time). I do know she had that terrible ordeal with her father where she tried to get a restraining order and then sued her management company for ruining her career.

Yeah anyway she came through qualies and apparently gave a good effort in her match today (which I also didn't see). Hope she's on her way back though because she's really been through some bad times.

^you're right chaky it was 99. same year jelena dokic got to the quarters upsetting hingis. that was a great year for wimbledon,i must say. it's really kind of nostalgic in a way because that's about the time i started watching tennis.

yeah,i was reading about her earlier...i had no idea of the issues she went through. coincidentally, eerily similar to dokic.

she just won an ITF title in april so it's certainly nice to see she's working her way back up again. she had a great deal of talent and a big game. she should have been in the top 10,imo.

did you guys hear that momo is working with michael llodra as a "counselor"? not sure if it's a temporary thing for the grass season or long-term but i'm happy. if we can't see her on court at least she's present ;)

sadly though for llodra it's a tough going against roddick.

Yeah I saw her at Queens! I think it's meant only to be for grass season but he's done well so perhaps they should continue ^_^ I think Andy was lucky today because Llodra can be really dangerous as we saw in first set.

^i hope they do too because there has been much improvement on llodra's part. even though he lost to roddick today i don't think he would have played as well against him in previous years.

could this though be momo's calling now? and momo was probably the most consistent french performer on either side in a long time so her experience in that sense would be beneficial.

are you guys catching this ridiculous match between mahut and isner? in the 30's....never before.

^ yeah

I tuned in when it was 19-19 and it took me about 30 sec to realize what's going on, first I thought it says 15-15, but then it hit me  And I couldn't believe even then how long it went

and they still look unbelievably fresh & serving love games! hard to win and hard to lose in this case.

Its now 51-52 in the fifth! I've never seen anything like this!

Is this really happening  How can they stand on their feet anymore?

oh....my....gah....

i had to leave for a couple hours and i return and it's still going 55-56!!!!

how in the hell is this happening?! how is isner keeping on his feet in these points and on that serve? no,this is completely absurd...haha they're going to need the IV drips when they get off the court.

all i can say is i have a newfound admiration for isner and mahut. resilient.

OMG, they've stopped, hahaha. They'll go to 100 tomorrow.
