thank you so much sYdneY, i am so greatful!! and im so sorry i didnt thank you sooner. :flower:

^ Thats okay! I hope you like them! I feel like it's a thankyou for all the lovely recipes you have sent me! :D

My favourite snack at the moment is corn on the cob :D so yummy!

!!! yes! And when it's JUST right its soooo sweet and juicy.....*dribble*

Right now Oliver and I have developed a fetish for mushrooms >_> They just make every meal taste so gooood....

^ Yesss! How yummy is it when it's juicy! :D

OOoh yum I love mushrooms! I normally only eat them raw on my sandwich. I'm a bit boring haha. Do you have any exciting ways with mushrooms I should try?

Nothing yet, just experimenting XD At the moment we're adding them into parmegianas, spaghetti napolitana etc. So its early days yet! I do remember one time I went to an italian restaurant and I had a large mushroom stuffed with garlic, herbs and breadcrumbs. That was seriously tasty ...

Oh also..I ordered some mandarins from the local organic produce store...and man I went through them so fast because they were so tasty, the perfect balance between sharp and sweet. My thumb was orange by the end of the day X3

Oooh sounds yum! :) I'll have to follow your lead and start adding mushrooms to more things :D

Ooh I love mandarins! I had a really awful one the other day though :( You know how they taste sort of bitter and a bit like wine? Hard to describe but it was yucky :(

Oh man, totally know what you mean, in fact thats what put me off mandarins for like, 6 years...

^ Yeah it's not good hey...

I took your advice about the mushrooms and for lunch I had two pieces of multigrain seeded bread with roasted mushrooms, red peppers and tomato slices :) Was so yum! :D

I agree with PREP - I'm not really a vegetarian. I stopped eating red meats and stuff when I was 13, but I still eat fish because my parents were worried and I ABSOLOUTELY HATE vegetarian food like tofu & soy stuff.

The only stuff I eat is fish - and dairy, and I'm happy. I know that if I had to kill a pig and eat it - I wouldn't be able to, but if I had to kill a fish and eat it - I could.

I stopped for animal as well as health reasons. Yeah, people always ask what is so superior about mammals and why fish is in the "lower category" and I don't have an answer. I just love fish too much and it's healthy, unlike pork and stuff, so I just eat it.

I got the peta starter kit when I first wanted to become a veg, so yeah, it's pretty good. I just eat more veggies and carbs and fish stuff, it rocks.

I'm totally on the same boat with you. (damn that sounded cheesy, but you get the picture :p ). I'm absolutely an animal lover & hate the fact that they are horribly tortured for food. It's one of the reasons I don't eat chicken, beef, etc. I however do eat fish from time to time & at first it was something that upset me because my parents actually more so "drove" me to it, but now I have no shame about it. Especially after reading on here that alot of you do the same, it helps to not feel alone. It's hard to start a new kinda lifestyle such as vegetarianism, but I've found a way that works for me so I'm happy with it.

btw, for my fellow vegetarians on here if you haven't ever experienced middle eastern foods than I strongly recommend it. I can honestly say I feel bad for any vegetarian that doesn't know what a falafel is! lol There's tons of foods that don't require meats, & their tasty to. I live in the US, so I'm trying to experience things other than hamburgers and such. I would recommend trying:

those are falafel's & that salad is ridiculously good, it's called tabouli.

hummus or labna with olive oil on top are delish to!

mmm humus!

Also, stuffed grape leaves with rice & tomatoes is great to. Here's kinda what it look's like:

I know I sound like a freak, but trust me TRY IT! even if you have to go to a middle eastern restaurent...it's the most vegan friendly stuff. Damnit, now i'm hungry!

Hummus is quite good on sandwiches as well, replacing a spread (mayo, ketchup, mustard...etc..) or even as a veggie dip! I have yet to make it myself (I use to buy it from the supermarket/whole foods) and haven't had it in quite a while, but it would be easy I think because it's made out of garbonzo beans/chickpeas! And they have Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, etc... all different variations:flower:

Oooh that sounds good! I might whip some up in my new blender hehe! :D

Oh man those pictures look good..!!!

I'm definitely into that sort of food at the moment, tonight I made a 'japanese' lunchbox full of lebanese bread strips, kumara & pumpkin hummus, avocado, basmati rice and homemade 'firey onion and garlic' hummus. That should shut all the idiots at his workplace who think that vegetarians only eat salads! Maybe i'll post some pictures tomorrow..

And sydney, long live mushrooms! *boogie*

^ oooh sounds delicious! You are very creative! I'll have to get the recipe off you sometime!

Today I had a revelation! Okay so maybe it's not uber creative but its my favourite dish at the moment..and the best part is it actually tastes better without cheese so I can have it totally vegan ..

Ingredients:
Lebanese Pita bread (sort of like unleavened bread)
Tomato Puree (I love zito organic o_o)
Brown Onions
'First crop' mushrooms, basically medium sized mushrooms
Japanese mirin
Soy Sauce
Mixed Herbs
Vegetable liquid stock

So what you do is, cut the lebanese pita bread in half, that means you can stuff both sides, the bread is very big, like a large pizza base in size. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees C. Spread an even layer of tomato puree inside the pita bread. Heat up the stove to a medium heat and put in sliced mushrooms, diced onions, mixed herbs, mirin, soy sauce and vegetable stock. Don't fry the mushrooms in any kind of oil, it just ruins their delicate texture and it prevents the stock from being absorbed efficiently. Cook it on medium heat until the liquid starts to seep out of the mushrooms, the soy will make them go a delicate brown. Then the liquid stock should start bubbling and the onions will go translucent. Take them off the stove, stuff the pita full of this. If you eat cheese, add a few very thin strips, or 'fake' cheese, I like it without just as much. Put it in the grill for 10 minutes...and voila!

I was going to take pictures but then it smelled too good so I devoured it...

Ladies: A delicious source of protein is Quinoa. You cook it like rice (1 part quinoa to 2 parts water). Add some vegetable bullion to the water. Cook until water is absorbed. It's yummy and good alone or with a stir fry (I'm actually eating some right now at my desk and felt compelled to share with all of you).

Is anyone interested in a great vegetarian minestrone recipe?

Quinoa hey? That sounds really interesting! What's it like? Sorry I know nothing about it!

And I'd love to know the vegetarian minestrone recipe when you get time :D
