The Vegetarian & Vegan Thread

Well, that makes me glad that I'm not the only one in this situation. I only find myself explaining my choice of being a vegetarian to those who ask & want to find out more. Also, I feel like Peta sometimes may take things a bit far & that causes people to group all Vegetarians as extremist weirdos! The whole fake blood throwing @ people in fur etc. I think there's different ways to introduce it to people, but until that day I'm just going to have to stick to what I believe & hope that whoever I surround myself with understands & accepts me for that.

^Thats a really good way of putting it, and it's how I've always felt. I'm not going to enforce my beliefs on anyone but if someone asks, I will explain and hope that they can at least see my p.o.v.

i'm a vegetarian
i hate peta
if you want to save animals, target the food industry, not the fashion industry
way more animals die to be eaten. the fact that they go after fashion seems like a huge publicity stunt
i also wear fur when i find something that looks nice, so i might be a little biased

I've been a vegan for 8 years, because I adore animals and this is the best thing ever happened to me!

Myself? I'm a raw foodist. Here's a little motivation for you to stay away from meat forever :yuk:  :

that looks really disgusting.. i can only imagine the amount of fat and meat in that combination. a true health bomb so to say

Is it necessary? I mean, I know this is a vegetarian thread and I understand that some people want to "convince" others that being vegetarian is better but I don't think nasty images are necessary or appropiate, especially when eating meat doesn't necessarily mean eating anything like that.

irene, its not like its propaganda, thats an actual picture, and someone was actually about to eat that.... marsmars is a raw foodist, and he wasnt trying to convince anyone of his lifestyle, technically, he could still eat meat if he wanted to.

I took a photography class once. Rule #1 was never photograph real food, because it never looks good. Therefore, I'm going to agree with Irene and say that that picture is unnecessary and misguiding.

the fact that it looks disgusting, isnt overpowering the fact that what it is, or what it appears to be, is a hot dog, covered in chili, possibly bacon, do i see a beef patty? and a fried egg, thats what it is, i dont need to see a picture to realize that its a disgusting concoction, in my opinion.

I was just saying that I thought the image wasn't pleasant and since there are other ways of expressing your thoughts it wasn't necessary to post it here, I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, don't take it as a personal attack marsmars ;).

I dunno I think it looks sort of yummy..but then again I love meat. Why do people instantly assume that vegetarians hate meat? I adore the stuff, i'd just be totally going against my principles and my inner self if I ate it :/

I'm with you there - while I'd never actually eat meat now, I admit to enjoying the taste of meat when I did eat it, and I still get cravings for it to this day. I just despise how the meat is made, and therefore would never consume it.
