I need to vent!
I'm in Massachusetts visiting my boyfriend for the weekend, and last night his family decided to take us out for dinner. They wanted to go to this place called Wright's Chicken Farm
rolleyes
, a place that makes family-style chicken (basically everyone gets chicken, pasta, salad, and rolls). But they assured me that they had a small menu besides that, which would have fish (I'm a pescetarian). So we went...
Then when we were seated, the waitress asked "So, has everyone been here before?", and we all nodded (I had gone there once about a year and a half earlier, back before I went pescetarian). So then she took our drink orders, and she was about to walk away, and I said "Oh, could I get a menu? I don't eat chicken". She gave me the rudest look and said "Have you been here before?". I said "Yes, but I thought you had a menu". She snapped "We only have chicken here".
So, basically I ate a dinner of salad, rolls, and pasta. Made me upset, because I really needed some protein and was hoping for some salmon or at least cod...
That waitress couldn't have been ruder! And we all seem to remember that a year and a half ago, when we all ate there together, the people next to us were eating fish!

Trust me, we have all been there, I am sure.
Isn't it annoying when you find meat hidden inside dishes that should be vegetarian-friendly? A month or so ago, my family ate at an Italian restaurant where I ordered mushroom and cheese ravioli (one of the few dishes that didn't include meat). When I received the meal, I found pieces of bacon hidden inside.
I don't see why putting bacon in a mushroom/cheese ravioli was necessary; not to mention, I'm not sure why they didn't feel the need to include on the menu that meat was in the dish.
speak up and make people aware that you have certain needs.
