It may have been Simon Cowell's 50th birthday - but that didn't mean he was in a generous mood. The X Factor supremo managed to insult both female judges within minutes of the show starting - by implying they were no better than former strippers Kandy Rain.

Sparks flew between Cowell and Cheryl Cole and he told her: 'You two [Dannii and Cheryl] have performed in the past practically half-naked.'

The row began after the girl band walked out semi-naked in skimpy leotards and performed some raunchy dance moves. They belted out Robert Palmer's Addicted To Love, but it wasn't their singing that divided the judges.

'Kandy rein it in,' said Dannii. Cheryl agreed: 'You keep saying you want to prove yourself as singers. But you dress yourself provocatively and that's the image you give off.'

Cowell, who before they performed had said 'their problem isn't the press, it's the way they sing,' defended the group. 'There's nothing wrong with a bit of pole dancing, earning a living,' he said.

But Cheryl wouldn't let the matter drop. 'Would you give them a record deal?' she insisted. 'I'd give them a shot,' replied Cowell.

'I bet you would,' she stormed.

Seriously, he's like the real thing already. No wonder they saved him for the end.

I agree with Louis that Danyl is overly confident and I don't think he was that good. He hasn't been great since his first audition, he's more a showman than singer, I think anyway.

Danyl is the last person to sing and Simon Cowell just said "that was the best performance i've seen in my whole entire life" and he breaks down in tears

so yeah The X-Factor has just finished and people all around The UK are voting until tommorow night when we find out the results and one person will be voted off. Tommorow i will post who is eliminated.

I agree with Louis that Danyl is overly confident and I don't think he was that good. He hasn't been great since his first audition, he's more a showman than singer, I think anyway.

Given how good he was at the start, they won't be able to use the narrative of a 'journey' - the emotional story of someone developing from a shy amateur into newly-confident performer. So he has that problem. As you say, X-Factor is merely giving him a platform - he's already such a performer that they can't really say they've created or formed him that much.

But for me, he's the best, because I like the way he comes out and really tries to go further with things. I agree that it hasn't worked on some occasions, but he has a go.

I love what Danni said to Danyl, he is way over confident. I felt like putting my fist through the TV when he pushed the microphone down after his performance.
I agree what Cheryl said about Kandy Rain, the blonde girl looked ridiculous.

i understand Dannii's comment now Danyl actually changed a line in the lyrics to match his preferences but Dannii noticed and highlighted it

She done rightly to do so imho. He's a primary school teacher and blabbing in the papers about his sex life.. does he expect people to just forget about it?
I was pleased when she mentioned something to him, totally knocked him down. It's not that I have anything against him or anything

I think Danyl overcompensates when he is singing but to mention his sexuality was utterly pointless and stupid and tbh I'm surpised at Dannii.
Cheryl & Dannii's comments about Kandy Rain were totally justified even though they were OK.
Stacey was the best of the night followed by Joe and the twins were utter s**t as I expected. I have a feeling they will not be leaving tonight though. If they are apparently 'nice kids' this certainly does not come across on the show. Oh and btw Louis is an **** and Simon is a bigger ****.

A fantastic first show for this season.

Danyl takes the competition too seriously hes not even having fun infact when hes interviewed by Holly he makes no attempt to be funny just plain serious.

Will Louis be at the show tonight? After the events that happened?

I love Louis, find him really funny and he also tells it how it is.
If he's not there tonight is because one of the guys from Boyzone died last night, he's name was Steven something i think.So he might be going tohis funeral or something
