I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough.

The challenge is to choose a haute couture collection (Christian Dior, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, etc.)

After you choose a haute couture collection that you like, design a garment that you think could belong in that collection.

I will judge based on how well you interpret the designers vision in your own design and how it overall fits with the rest of the collection.

Oh shoot! I missed my first challenge! Sorry JR1, it just slipped my mind =P

Congratulations Tourni, and great entries everyone.

I think I want to do Tisci for Givenchy

Ok...I'm done...

Well, for my haute couture collection, I chose....the greatest collection to ever be sent down the runway...Dior Haute Couture SS 04! (followed in close second by Dior's haute couture FW collection of the same year...it was a hard choice to pick between the two!)

For my dress, I designed something that had a general triangle shape because every dress from this collection had a triangle shape, whether it had been a right-side-up triangle with the shape of the garment flaring out at the floor from a tight top, or an upside-down triangle with the garment tapering at the floor from a large top (this triangle shape keeps the eye moving around the shape of the triangle...a rather deliberate act on Galliano's part).

So, my dress is black and blue. I chose black because there wasn't enough black in the collection and I felt that the collection could have used a hint more of black. But, because the collection was so colorful, I didn't want the entire garment to be black. The bottom half (which is kind of cut off, sorry...small scaner...big paper) is a light blue, which I used to represent the Nile.

^^Gorgeous! :woot:

Great job! :flower: I love the intricate detail you put in the upper half. It definitely takes me back to Egypt and most importantly it goes flawless with the rest of Galliano's SS/04 collection.

^Wow ...its so detailed

So this is mine, this is my first one and im not much of an artist so dont be too hard.. I took my inspiration from the Christian Lacroix Couture for F/W. The lines at the top are all seams and the one busy section with the pattern is quilted. The bottom is 5 or 6 layers of Chiffon and Crinoline. I think that the colours for the skirt would all be different reds and pinks and the quilting in the top would have some sage green randomly placed on that one section.

And Im sorry its kind of hard to see but my scanner was being odd.

OK, Jean Paul Gaultier - Spring 2006 Couture.

I used a blue colour, I think there should have been more in the show. and I put the beads around the waist (whatever you call it) around the legs, because I dont think many of the oldies who buy couture would look good with their top half showing

My suit would be for the Chanel Spring 2005 Haute Couture Show
with the same materials as this suit, but with the tulle of the dress for the lapels of the jacket.
