Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

a dark-haired Alice??? why, because Tim Burton is a "darker" director? if they're really being true to the books, she's gonna have blonde hair

once again i think Mia will be perfect in this role, i have 100% faith in her acting ability, much more than i have for Tim Burton's factory-pumping-out-movies with the same actors/actresses for years....i for one am EXCITED to see a NEW FACE..someone he doesn't rely on for sales/safety!

I don't think Tim Burton is as dark as he thinks he is. There are enough dark elements in Alice for them to speak for themselves. I really hope Burton doesn't over do it. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is the obvious casting choice, but the movie should be about Alice, not him. Frankly, I'm more excited about Marilyn Manson's take on Alice. :ninja:

no clocked, in fact, I don't recall there being any description about Alice being any particular haircolor in the book. There have been a gazillion interpretations of Alice by the illustrators working for different book editions, but since the Disney animation the blonde stuck. I was just hoping for something different, even if this is, again, Disney.

And I agree with you ms-nietzsche, I don't see Tim Burton as dark. I didn't know anything about a Marilyn Manson Alice though....

that's what is so wonderful about tim...that way of contrasting darkness with a witty sense of whimsy.

yeah i can't wait for that phantasmagoria to finally be released. mostly to see if it will be good or some pretentious rubbish. and the film isn't really specifically emphasised on wonderland but lewis himself...it's his imagination or nightmares that are really the subject matter.

One thing about this movie though, I was really hoping for a dark-haired Alice! Hehe, oh well...

I was hoping for the same ... and I thought it wud be dark haired cuz of the rela life Alice (Ms Liddell) was dark haired .., Burton is a very detailed director .. maybe he purposely did it cuz he knew people would expect a jet black haired Alice (IMHO Svankmajer's Alice kicks any other movies *rs*!!!)

I heard it has a dark side to it.
Supposedly its Alice's re-visit to Wonderland but this time as a teenager and she cant really recall much of her last adventure there.
Its also supposed to be based on some other take on Alice's adventures where the mad hatter is out to kill Alice as are the rest of the characters but thats only hear-say!:)

You're not too far off 18ForEver! Read this interview w/ Tim Burton, and she's definitely older and going back down the rabbit hole and kind of rediscovering the "wonderland." But doesn't seem like the Mad Hatter is out to kill her, but accompanies her - it does hint that she becomes a heroine so there's bound to be some kind of conflict/battle in there. Someone mentioned earlier, but it's based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through The Looking-Glass as well as the poem "Jabberwocky" - should be interesting to see how it all comes together.

I can't wait to see it.

Tim Burton always does a good job with movies.

Can't wait to see Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter.

I wish Helena Bonham Carter looked more like herself, cause I just love her looks..I think she's perfect.
I'm so excited about this movie. Hope it's better than Charlie and the chocolate factory
She is being the Queen of Hearts.

She isn't suppose to look like her regular self.

Alice in Wonderland is perfect to get into costume and make up. This would of been a dream for me to do the make up for that movie. The creativity and the colors are amazing.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was better than the original, imo.

So speaking of Alice costumes/make-up, did anyone else catch this tea party fashion video?

I kinda dig the tagline "Alice is the New Black". The video shows a preview of when Disney throws a impromptu tea party in Vegas. Thought it was kinda neat!

You're welcome! Not sure if anybody here went to the D23 Expo in Anaheim, but they also had a "tea party" there and showed off some of the costumes and fashion from the movie. Here's a photo gallery of the whole thing. Interesting way to keep us interested about the movie til it comes out!!

Yeah, I remember hearing about it since either two or three years ago! STOKED! :woot:

Alice in wonderland has inspired the 4th segment of VS 09. called "Enchanted Forest"
Alice is absolutely everywhere lately!:woot:

Those images are amazing! Wow. It looks like a painting - it just looks so...rich. Can you imagine how all of that will look onscreen and in 3D?!

And yeah, Alice does seem to be everywhere. I think there's a TV show coming on too. Pretty interesting. I'm most looking forward to the movie, though! Burton is a visual genius.
