Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Whatever this is it's not Alice in Wonderland...the Red Queen is in the sequel, Through the Looking-Glass...and the pig belonged to the Duchess...

Sorry for the rant but I'm fed up with beloved books from my childhood being ripped apart by Hollywood...

This movie is the sequel, in a way. Burton's not remaking the original, he's adapting both books into one single movie.

i kind of knew this would happen but i hope it would not but i hate how johnny depp is the center of this film (well from what the trailers foreshadows). alice in wonderland? or mad hatter in wonderland?

i don't really mind the interpretation because it is merely an interpretation. walt did it but it wasn't as dark as the book. this one, judging from the trailer,in its approach, seems much more related to the darker elements in the literature. seems like tim really wanted to tap into those aspects visually that haven't been emphasised before. i was very worried that this was going to be close to the animation but it looks promising. the characters look fantastic and the overall film seems much more dynamic than charlie was.

I noticed that too. Maybe it's because the actress who plays Alice isn't that big of a star yet to reel in moviegoers by herself? And besides, we all know Depp is like Burton's muse. lol

But according to the synopsis in post #134, a "19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror."

I don't see this as an interpretation...it's a hodgepodge of characters and circumstances from the two books with some new situations added...in the clip she drinks from the bottle and shrinks (again)...we're supposed to believe that she learned nothing from her adventures the first time around?

Wow this looks like its going to be best Burton/Depp film to date. I hate that we have to wait till march to see it! What a tease.

Looks way to dark to be Alice in Wonderland. But it's Tim Burton.
And since when is the Mad Hatter a main character..
I thought it was called ALICE in wonderland.
Not JOHNNY DEPP STARTS AS THE MAD HATTER in Alice In wonderland..

i guess it has to be with what they posted some days ago about the facebook recruiting... i seriously doubt it, but it might explain somehow why is the mad hatter like the main character on the trailer, since he had more "subjects". but, again, that's very unlikely to happen.
ooor maybe they prepared different trailers focused on different characters, because we all know it's not "The Mad Hatter in Wonderland".
i really don't mind, because i LOVE Johnny Depp, but i love Alice in Wonderland as well and i would like the movie stick as much as possible to the book story, so i hope this is just a promotional thing :)

It's Johnny Depp. Every movie that stars him, it becomes JOHNNY DEPP...and Public Enemies. JOHNNY DEPP...and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The guy has major star power.

Johnny Depp Surprise Appearance at Comic-Con to Support Tim Burton & Alice in Wonderland

He didn't even really say anything but I guess showing up is enough.

^^^Yes he has Star Power, but that usually applies when you are the STAR of the movie.
Which he is NOT.
