[firstview]

that was my first [if not only] real fashion moment, it was beautiful, extremely inspiring and so staggering.... and it made me question fashion so much and the reasons why I was so drawn to it. the image is not very representative though.. I left the good ones in my old computer and firstview has limited access these days. -_-

Alexander McQueen has to have the best shows.

Also, another that comes to mind is Dior Spring 2007 Couture:
Absolute perfection. I think this show blew everyone away.

recap of my life in fashion LOL ;)

ok here we go. I find it far too hard to choose 10, so I'm experiencing this as pure torture. LOL But I was curious how everything looked together. :)

Viktor & Rolf gave me quite a lot of "fashion-orgasms" back in the day.

When I'm in Paris, I always try to sneak in at a Mcqueen-show, the first one I saw was the chess-collection, with Frankie Goes To Hollywood on soundtrack.. It was my ultimate, ultimate fashion moment. Can't explain, just goosebumps. This dress is from another collection (ss03, I believe) and it's one of my alltime favorites.

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin are still the best, in my opinion. I tried to choose a photo that defined that for me, but I couldnt. :) Their campaigns for Yohji, Chloé, Balenciaga (with ann cath, for instance) are all gorgeous and cutting-edge and makes me proud to be Dutch :D

This add by Helmut Lang is still on my wall (somewhere... ??)

I LOVE Bernhard Willhelm and especially this collection, but I have the dinosaur-sweater at home, which is my alltime favorite, I guess..

So incredibly, amazingly, annoyingly, mentally, creatively inspiring. Junya Watanabe's genius collection.

And although YSL is my favorite label ever, which makes it hard to please me, I guess, Stefano Pilati did a perfect collection last season. It was so spot on and gave me goosebumps.

Ok, I'm totally forgetting Martin Margiela with his "circular collection", Hussein Chalayan with his "cypriotic folklore gone black-collection" Seeing Viktor and Rolf and Hussein Chalayan's installations in galeries was always perfect and inspiring.

Samantha Morton wearing Sophie Kokosalaki in Dazed and confused. Bjork wearing Mcqueen at Fashion Rocks. Alexander mcQueen's early days. John Galliano's creative period. ;) Cassetteplaya's website is one giant fashion orgasm http://cassetteplaya.com/

And for the "Grand Finale":

I love how McQueen and Dior is dominating everybody's lists

Showmanship ^_^
It's true. No one quite puts on a show like Galliano and McQueen:rolleyes:

And I agree with Gucci FW 03. It's Tom Ford's best collection and it's, in my opinion, eternally gorgeous. Every last element of that show was superb and exquisite. The hair was stunning. The music was phenomenal. The rose petal catwalk was brilliant. The models were GORGEOUS (Tom Ford had the best taste in models, Elise, Eugenia, Carmen, Natalia, Daria, Julia S, every last girl in that show...(except Tiiu, I don't get her, or his fascination with her. She had such small shoulders it was weird)...man, those girls where HOT). It really was a superb show and the clothes were so stunning...really stunning. When I think of stunning, sexy, sophisticated and unapologetically romantic, I think of Gucci FW 03.

I think the best shows, at least the most memorable ones are ones that strike an emotional chord that goes beyond "I love that dress so much" and can really change you as a person.

This thread is turning into Favourite shows and seasons and collections (although they are a moment)
I believe we have to post events since there are many threads on favourite collections and clothes

Oh god yes, that rainbow McQueen gown was hearstopping! The whole show was amazing, but that's the kind of dress that makes you gasp, if not out loud than at least in your head.

And those Junya oragami/pinata/ruffled pieces, the whole collection of them, are the kind of things that transend taste level. Even if you have the most classic of tastes with not a shred of avant garde in you, you still have to be in awe of the work involved.

I have to agree with everyone that McQueen & Galliano create some of the most mystical, visionary shows of the modern era. This is such a great thread! I love everyone's contributions. Weird Science, Winter wonderland and this one are some of my favourites:

the music especially gives it such a haunting quality

My exact, exact thoughts! Tom Ford did pick the most amazing and diverse set of models! He loved beauty and women and it definitely showed extra strong in that show.

And Gucci FW 03 along with Dior HC SS 04 have changed me as a person on how I approach artistic things. I always go back to those two shows ultimately when I need a boost of inspiration. And I guess I am having such a hard time with Frida because I want her to top that Tom collection (although it is impossible I feel.)

(And I completely forgot about that Junya collection, but it is indeed beautiful!)

"my" fashion moments????
every shows of McQueen (and his collections for Givenchy)...
Galliano signed at Dior...
Alber Elbaz quick passage @ YSL...
Hussein Chalayan's conceptual show...
Prada
Gucci Gp and LVMH new definitions of fashion...worst or best? don't know... but they surely changed some things...
Kate, Shalom etc. in every 1990s Galliano shows...
Calvin Klein minimalism... with passing time, i can now say that it was very good point of view in fashion at this time...
the whole japanese 1970s generation...
the Belgian team... including all the emerging a priori non-fashion countries... but who brought fresh air in fashion...
Chanel, Vionnet, Schiaparelli... strong Women in a Mens World...
but also YSL, C.Dior and C. Balenciaga, G.Versace ... influential Men in a Womens World...

Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin definition of fashion photography and fashion vision...
and the new generation with Juergen Teller, Terry Richardson, I&V, Testino, Klein, Meisel etc.

2007 will always remain in mind with the lost of Isabella Blow and Steven Robinson...

and maybe a lot more....
and esp. the energy and passion fashion brings in my life...
(pathetic, non?)
