I don't think the patterns on a Keffiyeh mean anything. It's just a traditional middle eastern garment worn by peasants in the past that represent nationalism during the Arab revolt. And surely it doesn't represent any sterotypical assumptions :innocent:
I like the traditional black and white Keffiyehs, but the other colors are kind of odd.

Simply no.

Black and white keffiyehs are specifically representational of Palestinian heritage. Jordanian keffiyehs are red and white, and can show heirarchal/familial/elder status in their patterns. The pattern of a keffiyeh is thought to represent agriculture and society and dates back to Mesopotamia. It's a cultural implement and it irritates me seeing hipsters running about with black and white keffiyehs and absolutely no understanding of the people who are united under the symble of it's pattern.

This is all of my knowledge. Perhaps someone else could even share more significance or meaning.

Now, I'm not saying it's like burning a flag but it's definitely typical of Americans and their unwillingness to learn about anyone else in the world. This goes for any race/religion/tribe/nationalism etc.

I was just a guest speaker at a High School.

It was crazy, all the girls, regardless of body type, age, coloring or whatever wore exactly the same thing:

Hoodie
T-shirt longer than hoodie
Skinny jeans
Uggs

I just wanted to tell them that they are young, they can wear anything! They should experiment! I kept hoping that the one strange girl in school obsessed with vintage or goth or anything else would walk by but it never happened! Sad.

Uggs

Girls decked out in Sevens and/or minis, Uggs, Juicy/C&C top and of course, the ubiquitous LV bag.

Is this some uniform now?

I have to agree. I am SO sick of Uggs. In fact, I never liked them, and when they first became popular however many years ago I though the trend would die out. Unfortunately, it hasn't.

Some styles won't die no matter how much you hate or protest a style. A lot of the looks I've trashed in this thread are still around. So what if sheepskin boots are comfortable (as I'm sure they are)? They're still ugly and annoying. Yet, Winter boots are overkill if it's a warm-weather day. The trend nowadays is riding boots. Try those instead. Even a pair of flip-flops, ballet flats, or skimmers are better than sheepskin boots (commonly called UGGs). I've gotten sick of sheepskin boots. They are about as lazy and unstylish as any sort of sleepwear. Why commit to such fashion laziness? They're better worn around the house than out in public. Why some femmes fail to realize this and continue to wear these (for reasons besides comfort) is beyond me. Even worse when pants/jeans are tucked into boots on warm days.

^What if you live in a really cold place though and sheepskin boots are the best option available? I live most of the year (Unfortunatly, all of the winter months) in the extreme North of Scotland and I can't wear anything but boots like uggs due to the cold, which lasts most of the year relativley speaking.

Wearing sheepskin boots for practicality is different that wearing them as a fashion trend. If you are in an extremely cold place, then having warm clothing takes precedence over looking good. I find that most girls wear Uggs just to fit a certain look. Also, Uggs don't seem that practical to me. They keep you warm to a certain extent, but they are not waterproof and cannot be worn in the snow during the winter.

If it's a cold-weather climate we're talking about and if sheepskin boots are the best option, then that's fine. But if you're just wearing this as a trend... why? It's like how the hipsters and scenesters and trendy types wore skulls... all because it was the latest trend. Why such bone-heads (no pun intended. Well, maybe...) love and wear them is pathetic. I stress again, don't wear these sheepskin boots just because it's cold weather season. Same goes for the big Winter boots. And it's a terrible idea wearing whem with shorts or a short skirt. They just aren't the go-with-everything shoes. They aren't like flip-flops or Converses. Cold weather place - okay. Cold weather season but a warm day - you can find better shoes to wear.

By the way, mollyred, you just double-posted (Post #6,591 is the duplicate of 6,950).

Actually practically is the only reason I'd get out my old Uggs every once in a while. I bought them years ago when they were not even a trend because I needed something to keep my feet warm. Winters here can get very cold and we had so much snow lately that they came in handy. I must say that I almost only wear them when it snows. Mine seem to be pretty waterproof. Maybe because I treated them with a special protection spray before first wearing them. I'd never ever wear Uggs for fashion though. I see too many girls/women here who think they are kinda trendy because they were them with tights/leggins and a skirt/dress. Hate that look :yuk:.

PASHMINA SCARVES. goodness gracious, these scarves give me goosebumps!

waxy- ia. Everyone has one and they're not a luxury anymore! You can get them for like £2 on nearly every street in London!

When I moved here to Germany from Norway a couple of months ago I was pretty shocked. There are so many girls here who wear those tacky bleached no-brand (not that that really matters, but still) jeans with WHITE leather boots! The boots are usually flat or have a kitten heel and they have these terrible rhinestones and such on them. Ive never seen anything like that before! Other than that, Im pretty happy not to see the "baggy jeans inside nike sneakers on girls" trend that seemed to be pretty common back home

Oh, and I walked past this teenie-store today and they actually sold metallic underwear! Like, gold/blue/pink metallic hotpants and matching bras. At first I thought it was a gogo thing, but it turned out to be just regular underwear.

Denim skirts, leggings and uggs. Ughh. Seriously if I see anymore girls wearing it around college I may scream. Well maybe not but I feel like screaming. Ohhh and also some gilets with that combo. Not nice.
