Trends You Are Sick Of #1

I have seen a few guys wearing Crocs, not just boys. Clogs can be comfortable to wear (not that I have any experience). I could remember late last decade that there were some leather clogs that were very comfortable to wear and that quite a few femmes wore these. Why? Comfort (and even style). It's kind of like why most in the medical field wear those medical clogs rather than having athletic shoes all the time. I see it as comfort. I have no problem with chunky shoes for women. None. In fact, I think there's something funky to wearing chunky shoes. Maybe I get such a trip off of '70s style (because the '80s is overrated) that I've enjoyed some of the flared bootcut pants and stuff from the late 1990s.

Some guys do wear Crocs, but just not as often.

well a trend to me is something supported by the economy/media: stores, magazines, the whole fashion world - then people wear it and often they over-wear it
that just doesnt sound like a trend to me

Which trends don't you understand?

For me, it's platform shoes. I just don't get the point of them besides looking taller. The shape just doesn't appeal to me. Can you explain its popularity to me?

I like platforms, but they have to be done with the right shape. Flared jeans and a skinny top for example. Other than that I can't quite explain the appeal

Personally, I don't get 99& of mens summerfashion but I guess thats not a trend, and it could be just me

There is a local trend in Germany which frightens me alot: The mini skirt + leggings combo is back. So weird! That came up so surprisedly and I don't get that because I thought that was completely through. But suddenly I noticed all this girls wearing it again!

this was in liverpool a while back (for a few years but kinda vased out the last few months) the odd mupet still does it like .. but yea last summer massive trend here

im sick of the whole sock trend in generall ..espessialy with stuff tucked in to them like you said

also white sluchy ones not knee high not ankle kinda in middle pushed down ..you know the type like school socks

every young teenage girl here seems to wear them with knee length shorts or skirts

knee high and over the knee socks im sick of seeing people wearing them just for the sake of wearing them.. regardless of the stae of their legs or the outfit they are wearing

pumps they are great for the day dont get me wrong i love them.. but try not to wear them with something to dressy looks silly .. also with black opaques get black ones ..white ones look sillyimo

I have to imagine that it's usually too warm/hot to wear leggings. I voted this as the worst trend of 2005 or 2006 on here as I failed to understand wearing leggings. Nowadays, I've somewhat eased up on leggings paired with skirts. Not as many "violations" against this style. Can be cute done right; can be trashy and putrid done wrong.

Well, this thread is called "which trends don't you understand." I mentioned the girl who wore rain boots tucked into black jeans or pants when there was no rain. There was a girl at my school who dresses up quite well and very into fashion, except that she had her jean legs tucked into boots when it wasn't cold or miserably wet. I don't understand this as a style. I'll just end it here because I already sense this post netting me some negative comments (fire away at me. This is not my first rodeo).



Now for the one YOU don't understand... I have no problem with platform shoes. Take it from a guy who admires funky '70s-type fashion- nothing can be hotter than adding a few extra inches to your height. I've never seen a pair of platform shoes/sandals/boots I didn't like. I've seen a great deal of platform wedge pumps and maryjanes that I've adored and loved seeing ladies wear. I've seen a nice variety of platform sandals, even platform flip-flops/thong sandals. I even like the 2-inch tall platform sandals I see on the cute and friendly Korean woman who is the manager of a deli across the street from my (soon-to-be former (because I'm graduating this Saturday)) community college. She does wear lower shoes, but there's a certain appeal to wearing long pants and skirts with those chunky platform wedge andals. I've seen some nice platform boots on ladies as well. Whether it's some hot boots for looking hot in the Winter or for those 5-inch platform boots most modern go-go dancers wear, I have no problem with platform boots.

All in all, I understand platforms quite well. These shoes are for those just wanting to try something different and a bit more bold and defning.

I generally don't like platforms either (although I'm easing into wedges), but they make sense to me. You get height without sacrificing too much comfort.

There are a lot of trends I don't understand, by which I mean I don't necessarily dislike how they look. I may even like them on some people and in editorials. But I also think they are weird and impractical, in a jarring sort of way.

- boots in the summer or sandals with warm clothes
- shorts as formal wear
- vests worn open over another vest
- mixing many prints together
- high heels with jeans (unless the jeans are very dark and look like trousers)

That's it for now, I'm sure I will think of more.
