There is the occasional occurence I come across a preteeny girl wearing some tacky colored plaid mini skirt with capri leggings and converses. I feel soo bad and just want to smash myself into a wall instead of walking the whole block with her in my sight.
Oh, that reminds me, I hate converses. And graphic vans which thankfully kind of died. I remember when my hunts for nice sneakers were plagued with overloads of converses and vans. And I remember shielding my eyes from the girl who has extremely long twiggy legs worn in skinny jeans..and pairs it up with her neon green/black checkered vans for her biiig, wiiide feet. She looked kind of gross.

I totally agree with that. As long they aren't capri leggings, or if they are, the ends are hidden with boots, warmers, or something. Leggings make good alternatives to tights if you want to appear more casual and if the weather may be too cold for such netty stockings.

But I agree. In fact I think this has been said, but models generally kind of get on my nerves...everyone seems to act like they're the pinnacle of style when half of them just wear regular clothes! They just look awesome because they're models. They're paid to look awesome. Ugh.

what i want to know is...when does a "trend" stop being a trend and become a "staple"? uggs have been around for 20 years or more. they have been "mainstream" for about 5-6 years? are they still a trend?

Apart from, as above, the normal moan about Ugg boots, we seem to have calmed down on yuck here in Liverpool. Thank goodness, or maybe thank the 'Liverpool One/Cavern Walks/the Met' godesses? Compared to six months ago, even the truly atrocious fake hideous animal print oversize bag component has disappeared. But not the Ugg. Fake are the worst.....
As if jeans tucked into boots (as a style or as a general way of dressing) is bad enough, what's even worse is tucking the legs of leggings into Arctic-type boots. It wasn't a cold day in Houston today, and it wasn't bitterly cold to where femmes think that just because it's Fall/Autumn that they are REQUIRED to tuck pants into boots like it's piles of snow or flooded walkways. 'Nuff said on the jeans tucked into boots style. This trend reached a lower low as I've seen opaque black leggings paired with natural-colored Arctic-style boots or even UGG boots. I was sweating a bit today. It was NOT cold today. Maybe a little cool, but not cold. And certainly not cold to where leggings as pants have to be paired with chunky boots.
I've so hated this as a style. Come out here to Houston in mid-December or so. THEN it's cold. But not on a warm, early November day! It's a fashion disaster which most people give it a pass to while I've shown cold-blooded dislike of the style. One other thing... if it's THAT cold, wouldn't longjohns be better to wear in colder weather than opaque leggings? Love or hate leggings, this was a farce to pair them with Arctic, bulky type boots. Absolute fail. It's not that cold, and you aren't required to tuck pants/jeans/leggings into boots unless it's really cold or hazardous to walk around in. How much more simpler do I have to make this? Don't give me anything on silhouettes either because the look is still a fail. I hate it as a style, not as a function.

^yes I find winter boots in warm weather particularly annoying. It was probably in the low 70s last week (in L.A.) and I saw a girl wearing full on SNOW boots (like for snowboarding), a t-shirt and a scarf! Confused much?!

i am so sick that when a trend arrives you cannot find anything but what's 'in' at the moment...oversized sweaters, brown-black-grey, and i just want to wear light blue,.... then, jeans that look like they are made for women with penises, ankle boots that i adored i being abused....

people need to be openminded.... if you're wearing sth different, they stare at you! that is naughty!

Same here. It's actually not a trend because it's already been worn in the 70s and 80s (and I personally also wore it in the 90s). Look at some old episode from some TV shows such as Charlie's Angels and Hart to Hart. Jeans tucked into boots everywhere.
Well I like boots tucked into jeans, but I can see how someone could dislike it. I think the look has lost its functionality and in a sense has become trendy. Like the purpose of sunglasses is to keep the sun out of your eyes (while looking good), the original purpose for tucking pants into boots would be to keep your hem out of the snow, rain, mud, whatever (while looking good would be secondary). If I saw someone wearing sunglasses indoors AT NIGHT I might say they are trying too hard to be cool or fashionable (or on drugs).
With boots into pants, the looking good aspect has replaced their functional aspect. Like people who started wearing doc martens so their feet wouldn't get crushed at shows versus people that never went to shows and just wore them because it looked good. I would say that that makes it trendy. I don't think the length of time something has been around determines whether it is a trend.
