I think the cover highlights what I didn't like about Edward's Vogue (I only ended up buying his first issue) is that it was just him shouting "me, me, me, me, me" from the rooftops. All good editors have a very pointed vision, but it can't be THAT self-centered.

I'm just relieved to see Steven Meisel's name attached to this, because above all else, it feels like an event whenever Meisel shoots the cover of British Vogue. For me, Meisel has been the whole saving grace of Edward Enninful's tenure. A pretty impressive feat to have pulled off such a cover shoot, and I'm a fan of the cover overall. Very celebratory and monumental!

It is an event and to be honest the only emotion this cover evoked in me was the realisation that this might be Meisel's last one...

All meh, the only fact that has me ecstatic is Meisel shooting Kate again after 200 years. If I see Linda on any cover again soon I'll gauge my eyes out.

That won't happen, and it's just a comment. I know the case of James Franco photoshopped out from Vanity Fair, but that was way before the magazine went to print. And I'm pretty sure Selma's thoughts aren't exclusive of her. Lots of stars thinks the same about the same. It's comical in a tragic way that Edward couldn't avoid that bullet in his final issue.

Poor Asians, you will never ever deserve the right recogniziation from the indusry, coz the whole sh*t industry does not care you, and the only diversity this industry could think of is only black.

There are 4 Asian models on the cover. Rina, Jameela, Simone Ashley, and Gemma Chan. There are also only 13 black models on the cover. I’m not sure why you think “the only diversity this industry could think of is black”.

^are you talking about East Asia like China and Japan? Because the term Asia includes many territories like India and the middle east. In that sense is true that there are only 2, I think... and the only latinas are Salma & Anya...

I don't usually like to get into discussions concerning this topic, buy why are racial and national statistics on these women so relevant to you? Like honestly, what does it truly matter? This is not a magazine about culture, it's a magazine about fashion and above all, rich and famous. That's what this is, a display of power. Devon Aoki isn't there because the cover features most of Edward's past cover stars and she wasn't one of them.

I also have to ask, with such strong advocacy for Asian representation in Western magazines (which I agree, could and should be better), why is there not the same response to Asian magazines? You never see diversity in their magazines, aside from an occassional top model or celeb. It's always their local talent and celebrity figures that are predominantly featured and they never get pleas for diversity and representation like Western magazines do. There's hypocrisy in that, really.

It's not like anyone would be talking about the amazing fashion, the unforgettable photography, or the iconic art design.

It's not like we have posters lining up to give their lists of the best images, their most beloved editorials, their fashion moments, their must-have pieces that leapt out from the pages.

In the empty space between seeing the cover and then waiting for the rest of the contents, people turn to discussing numbers and representation, because many times, that was the most outstanding part of any issue. Quantity - but quality?
