US Vogue April 2009 : Beyoncé by Mario Testino

 OMG. I want this. Now!
Natasha looks incredible!

well the song Ego sums up the hateration...I love the fact that she laughs at the haters
It's too big
It's too wide
It's too strong
It wont fit
It's too much
It's too tough
I talk like this
Cuz I can back it up
I got a big ego
Such a huge ego
But he love my big ego
It's too much
I walk like this
Cuz I can back it up
I, I walk like this
Cuz I can back it up
I, I talk like this
Cuz I can back it up
I, I can back it up
I can back it up
I walk like this
Cuz I can back it up

Stop the track, let me state facts
I told you give me a minute and I'll be right back
Fifty million round the world
And they said that I couldn't get it

I done got so sick and filthy with Benji's, I can't spend
How you gone be talkin' ****?
You act like I just got up in it
Been the number one diva in this game for a minute

I know you read the paper
The one that they call a queen
Every radio round the world know me
'Cause that's where I be
yup....pse post the B ed

This is boring. I hate to say it but... I think last year's Shape Issue was much better. The editorials were much better. IMO. I'm glad for Natasha she looks good at least. I would've loved to see a full edit with Edita, with the same theme, probably could've been a really good one. Daria looks good too but it's nothing new... Is there no couture in the issue, though? April is couture... right?

Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou Doillon, Daria Werbowy, Natasha Poly..... is this new Vogue desperately trying to follow in the footsteps of VP?

That shot of Daria Werbowy is nearly IDENTICAL to the image seen in last month's VP!

I like change, but I would like U.S. Vogue to keep some of the qualities that sets it apart from other magazines, not conform to be hip.

I think Adele looks great, but it' a little ironic that they have her posed in a way to minimize her shapely body...

I do love the strong goddess Doutzen Kroes lifting weights. She has a SICK body!

Yes to all of this. I didn't even realize just how much this is like Vogue Paris until you pointed it out! Karma for being so adept.

And yeah the Adele picture is the classic MySpace angle aerial shot to minimize weight...

I don't know if I even want to buy this issue but I probably will since I'm a glutton for punishment.

I just hate the fact that they cut the BEST PART OF HER BODY out!!!
Curves are great and Vogue needs more of that!

 It is very MySpace! Her expression is so emo and the angle is unmistakable.

ok beyonce 4 april?
u r kiddin' right?
i mean c'on
this girl is much better than michelle obama.
very interesting editorial
very avonesque 4 my taste
but hey it's beyoncé
she's not one of my favorites but we know that american vogue is a fancy US weekly, so this is not weird.
i would like to see her on the march issue as a powerful woman not just as a curvy one on the shape issue.

Obamania never ends? what's next Oprah again?

I have a feeling that Marie-Amelie Sauve's styling is going to be showcased more than ever in this issue. She usually only used to do an edit every other couple of issues, but last month she had two. The Gainsbourg/Doillon edit has her name allover it.

I actually like her styling, though, so I don't mind. I just think US Vogue has really been trying to become more hip as of late. Especially with the totally now models they are using (Edita V., Karlie Kloss) in place of the girls that used to be their signatures (Caroline T. and Raquel). The January, February, and March issues had a certain freshness to them, but this issue looks like VP copy-cat central. I'll have to see the rest to past judgement though.

I'm liking this issue so far...
Daria's edit sounds good... And I'm interested in seeing L'Wren Scott feature.

if US Vogue wants to change things, they should start with the way they're handling the styling in editorials. there's nothing more boring to me than this "one designer per page" look that basically all magazines are pushing.

they're not the least bit creative, they copy the runway styling basically head to toe. any chimp could do that. meanwhile, the fashion editors are making a handsome income.

I couldn't agree more. But US Vogue shouldn't be the only magazine criticized for doing this. Almost every other single fashion magazine does. I guess it's an easier way to showcase a designer, but it does lack creativity and kind of contradicts the idea of styling an image when it is the same look seen on the runway. On the other hand, if a stylist takes looks from various runways and relates them to a certain theme and makes a connection (something that that is ALWAYS visible in US Vogue), then they are doing their job well. The thing I do like about the editorials in US Vogue is that they perfectly represent the styles of the season in a clear and direct manner. Following themes and connections at a magazine like VP can be a bit difficult at times because the editors just show the clothes they like instead of the clothes that reflect the season the best. Still, the overall essence of a VP edit is much more compelling and visionary than a US Vogue or Bazaar spread.

Natasha's edit is not really good... Seems like they're trying to do the same thing they used to do when Caroline shoots with Demarchelier: silly faces
However, she looks good and I loved Grace Coddington styling.
Thanks for the info :flower:

How about Lara Stone for once?
my thoughts exactly.

natasha looks amazing, but i hate the silly faces (very trentini indeed)... and i agree with Street_a_Licious about the 'one designer per page' styling, it's so boring.
i'm curious to see charlotte and lou doillon though...

You guys complain that they never use the new models, then you complain about them not bringing back the old models, now your complaining about those models. When will you be satisfied?
