US Vogue December 2017 : Meryl Streep by Annie Leibovitz

It seems like paper's at an all time high since none of the aforementioned has the proper length to even be considered a fashion edit. Maybe I should be thankful that at least we've got name photographers this month instead of Greg Harris or Theo Wenner...

How on earth can THE Meryl Streep, THE main cover star, get only one photo published? Was this cover a mere after thought? Was the shot used as the cover originally for a features photo? I do not understand how you got her on set and not even bother shooting for various looks and then publish the same. Here's more, the photo of her in the office is not even closely related to the photo used for the cover. Utterly disappointing.

What aggravates things is this - Pharrell, the subscribers' cover star gets 10 pages. TEN pages. All photos. Unbelievable.

They also had a redesign. I actually thought I was reading through the pages of Bazaar. It had the same feel - empty.

Yes, the other contents are short articles about clothing with a new picture juxtaposed with an old one (from previous issues of Vogue), mostly just 2-4 pages long. And yes, Meryl only have one shoot. I'll post a full review so you get a glimpse about what's inside.

Thanks Rigida, and thanks for posting the review. Must say it looks abysmal to me. Other than the winter warmth on the cover, there's not much of a festive mood here. I'm no longer an ardent US Vogue collector, so will flip through it before purchase.

I don't like the concept of just 2 or 4 pages.....

Yeah, what's with that? I hope that's not a new thing for Vogue. What a waste of money, time, and resources for those involved, if it's only a few pages...

Yeah I don’t understand this either... isn’t the expense for a four page edit the same as for a full one?!

Kind of nervous anticipating Meryl's edit after seeing these other two... Also does look like a cover for a writer, not Meryl.

Do you remember her other insert in Vogue--I saw a video published 2012. It was also on women.. she had a shoot too with political figures..

Meryl only has one picture and a short article. I think that their original choice was a disaster so they canned it and quickly chose Meryl to take her place.

What's special about this "special issue"? A fashion magazine that comes without fashion editorials? An editor too busy overseeing other titles to focus on her own? Two covers and neither of them good?

Now that I'm going through it online (via my library), the written content in this issue is a dream for anyone who's been reading magazines for ten or twenty years, with people looking back at what's gone before, as a foundation for where we are now, in terms of fashion and beauty, feminism and culture. That Pharrell editorial acts as a filler that prevents you from getting to the next piece fast enough. Rich in content, if not in fashion, this might be the first US Vogue that I'll buy in ages.

Thanks for this! :flower: Will look out for it.
