US Vogue February 2019 : Reese Witherspoon by Zoe Ghertner

Vogue Magazine apologises for the misidentification:

Many comments are pointing out the fact that this post doesn't make up for the mistake and they should feature an article about the case in particular and the problem in general written by Noor.

Her bringing this up on social media was very necessary in my opinion because that ridiculous mistake has a bigger picture that serves as a wake-up call for Vogue. You can’t just confuse POC with the same first name and then sweep it under the rug. For all we know, Vogue would not be mature enough to post an apology without her addressing it to a large crowd first. Besides, if you look at her original post, she did not once word her dissapointment in a disrespectful manner towards the magazine despite being disrespected herself. She didn’t even discredit Vogue at all as it was clear from her statement— “I never ever expected this from a publication I respect so much and have read since I was a child”—that she felt honored to be featured in Vogue. I’d say that her outrage is completely justified. Whether or not it needed to be fueled ti a fire by Diet Prada is another story because that account is a hot mess these days.

But we don't know that for sure, do we? Because Vogue were not given the opportunity to repair the issue in any sense. Given how often the magazine find themselves in the hot water, I'm prepared to run a book that Vogue would've issued a similar retraction to the one above. The same commentary may have followed then (including somethe from that maggot-infested Diet Prada), and THAT would be justified. It's just exasperating to see how social media is nowadays the first recourse if you've been wronged, which can at times be regarded as vindictive.

@Benn98 Could you post Personal Best? I want the images without Weibo mark.

Models licking Anna’s a** in Noor’s instagram comments are a choice. At least Gigi made a valid point in her comment.

Sure Plax, here we go! I've not run it through Ps, so these would still have the credits on them. Hope it's ok.

Blesnya is smiling at least. The grunge ennui is so overdone. The dudes in 'Get Ready' are bringing it more than these veteran models are. What the hell does VOGUE see in this daughter of so and so's work?

The garments presented are expectedly lackluster. The images, art direction and fashion styling is completely lifeless and joyless.

I'm not going to read into the typo controversy beyond the info gleaned from tfser comments. However when magazine mastheads are continuously slashed and those remaining are surprise (!) predominantly white staffers who were never familiar with the names of non-western personalities to begin, we should be shocked that these typos ARE NOT more prevalent today across print titles fashion or otherwise.

However, digital "journalism" is even more prone to typos, spacing errors. I read a recent (CNN?) article on Samantha Barry in which the author repeatedly referred to GLAMOUR's publisher as "Conde Naste." So cringe-worthy, I felt embarrassed for the author, who clearly did not keep up with the world of fashion publications.

For a print magazine to remain robust, reputable, relevant, and accurate, multiple-layers of fact checking measures (ie hierarchy of human editors) are vital, as this VOGUE social media controversy proves. But when the revenue isn't there to supply the resources needed, quality suffers. If magazines produced good content, I'd buy more magazines. If magazines produced exceptional content I'd subscribe....It's a lose, lose situation.

The irony of the digital medium which supposedly saves humans unquantifiable amounts of time, doesn't free up enough hours in a day for print staffers to fact check a person's name.
