US Vogue July 2004 : Kirsten Dunst by Mario Testino

and Daria's shoot with Jake... ...those are the times when i'd kill to be a model

*jealous*
oh to be a teen again with no standards..

Not sure 2004 was a great year in fashion but I do miss the unapologetic femininity that reigned around this time.. all the sequins, sheer fabrics, ruffles.. designers either made it fun, interesting (Lanvin, Theyskens) or just sublime (Anne Valérie Hash produced her best work this year and definitely one of my absolute highlights of that decade). Both the cover and Kirsten symbolize well this mood in design and trends.. Kirsten's style and work was lovely and light-hearted without being vapid, things really went downhill when Rodarte entered her life.. :innocent:

Thanks burbuja!

You're welcome @MulletProof

The shot of those Lanvin pumps is probably the highlight of this rather bland issue. Such a flawless collection with gorgeous accessories and details (link in case someone wants to time travel).

*jealous* (..) of anyone owning pieces from it.

So so so gorgeous. And so tragic how stunning she shot these powerful bodies as opposed to the recent one... Love seeing powerful athletic bodies alongside the long and lean model ones. Both body types are graceful and beautiful when shot with such a well-honed skill. These are the types of bodies that are inspirational and aspirational— much like their male counterparts. Such standards should have never been lowered in the realm of high fashion.

Seriously, all the photographers (even the ones who can’t appear on magazines) should go back to their old style! The photoshop was more subtle.
Anna really loved that Helmut Lang!

^^^ God, she’s just such a natural. She had this combination of naughty/haughty/bad rich girl vibe that would have fit right in with the likes of Eva Marie Saint/Grace Kelly/ Kim Novak, teetering between regal and trashiness and she knew how to play it up. Such poise.

It’s as if they’re afraid to showcase their professional talent and hard-earned experience and dumb down to family snapshots just to be accessible and relatable because apparently people these days can’t connect with anything unless it’s literally on their level. Annie’s recent shots of Simone were inexcusably deplorable, like they were taken by a mall glamour-shot photographer. Pathetic.
