US Vogue September 2025 : Emma Stone by Jamie Hawkesworth

That's a good smile...i don't hate it...maybe it's Anna last issue as EIC? to make nod as her first cover? jeans and a HC top?

i like the clean layout as well....

If this is her last September cover…Then I’m ok with it.
Her first cover was a model in jeans wearing a Couture jacket by a photographer of it time in a aesthetic of that time. The fact that this cover is a nod to that, with a Couture jacket of it time, with a celebrity as a bridge to what will also be remembered of Anna’s tenure (fashion and celebrities), then it’s good.

I’m glad it’s not by Annie.

There’s something very modern about it and I like it. And I think the layout makes it fresh.

The contrast between Anne’s cover and this one couldn’t be more shocking!

Honestly, this cover’s got me all kinds of conflicted!
If it stands as Anna’s final bow and a tender nod to her debut Vogue cover, I can’t help but respect it.
However, my genuine concern lies in the prospect of the future EIC adopting a similarly bleak, lifeless, and dreary color palette.
That tone just sucks the energy right out of the page, making the whole magazine feel cold and uninspired.
It makes me seriously wonder what creative direction the magazine will take moving forward.

Nevertheless, I love Emma!

It this a joke??? And wait people like this?! Oh goshh...
So so many things gone wrong but let's try to list them:
The photo is bad to start with, it looks like an outtake
+ no hair and makeup (or if it exists these people should be fired!)
+ 5 dollars jeans (I mean where's the f*** glamour???)
+ crazy top that has NOTHING to do with the jeans or Vogue or that actress
+ the not looking into the camera rule that is AGAIN forgotten by Vogue
(lol it's just 101 cover basic thing)
Emma is not an interesting actress let's be honest, she is a nice, sweet girl but I don't think people in general see her as a huge talent.

If this is Anna's last cover as EIC I would be shocked but then again her tenure in the last 15-20 years has been awful and therefore this cover shows perfectly her last years at the helm of what once was known as the Bible of Fashion. huge NEXT!!! Very disappointed (and no supermodels' group for her last if it is her last cover is bad).
I think the top is by Louis Vuitton and Stone is one of the faces of Louis Vuitton.

It's not the worst but nothing great either. The hair is a mess.

Also, why does it feel like there's a trend now for lack of eye contact from the covers? I hate it.

Oh yeah by no means do I think she's irrelevant, she is well known indeed and yes she's a Louis Vuitton face but she is not a Nicole kidman or Julia Roberts or Charlize Theron for me. She's a sweet actress that is ok and I liked her in some movies but she is not a huge movie star (again it's merely my own personal opinion). I thought the top reminded me of something Nicolas Ghesquière did years ago.

What I think was a clever move from Anna was to absorb the indie aesthetic…To reframe US Vogue in the current landscape.

For me the challenge for the next EIC/HOC will be to see if she has a strong POV. Anna has quite a distinctive POV which has been very productive for US Vogue in a sense that she has been able to cast very different types of photographers and aesthetic and made it fit her Vogue.

The problem with all those HOC is that nobody has a POV. Good or bad covers, a POV is necessary. When I look at a lot of covers today, I know that people were in the office screaming YAS and ICONIC for no reason at all. It shows…

Anna likes to switch things up sometimes and put house ambassadors in other brands. The last 2 celebrities were ambassadors of Versace and YSL and they wore Givenchy and Prada…

I’m not sure with what she is wearing up there but… I like her smile. That’s all. The hair is new, I don’t hate it.

I agree with you, Emma Stone is not a power star like the actresses you mentioned.

is this the last issue of Anna as EIC?
Probably not. There’s Vogue world coming. I believe the December issue will be her last issue…Unless she wants to end with November as she started with November.

It would make so much sense for Vogue to announce a succession right before or after FW.

I knew this tribute was coming, though she didn't took a model for it. Her smile it's beautiful indeed, but eye contact would have been perfect. Maybe it's meant to be that way, she's looking to the future. Anna's final issue or not, it is her last September, no question. I'm so glad is Emma and not some cringe personality. She's so likeable, safe choice.
