Hmm I disagree with part of this statement. You're right that not a lot of people (except maybe fashion lovers) have heard of V Magazine, but I disagree that putting a celeb on the cover doesn't help it sell better given this fact. If someone loves Penelope Cruz (who was on the cover of the mag a few months ago) and sees a magazine - even one they've never heard of - with her on it, they're going to be more inclined to buy it JUST because she's on the cover. I think the people at V figure, well fashionistas are probably going to buy it no matter what b/c it's a fashion magazine, let's try to get a different audience to buy it as well. Now whether or not Kate Bosworth is a celeb that sells well or not, I actually have no idea...I know next to nothing about her really.A.D.C. said:Celebs might sell more copies of magazines but I seriosly doubt they have the same effect on V. I don't know anyone that's even heard of V exept for the people on this board, so I'm assuming that the people who do buy it, buy because they're fashion fans and could care less about Kate and even if celebs sell more copies I doubt that she's one of them. Who cares about her anyway she's not even that famous. In fact, the only reason she is famous is because magazines insist on shoving her down our thraots. I hate when someone is picked as the next big thing, the hype never pans out, can you say Colin Farrell? These types of celebs are made-up stars and not the real thing a la' Julia Roberts or Tom Cruise who became famous and garnered attention AFTER! they had starred in hit movies and the public WANTED! to know more about them. Someone who I thing is on the same trajectory is Rachel McAddams, people are interested in her because she's been in a string of hit movies, it happened organically. No one was pointing at her and telling us that she was going to be the next big star.
