That's a lot of good-looking women looking bad (or bored).

And it feels like Amy Adams is always on the cover. Not that I'm complaining, but it seems VF really likes to support her.

I'm so sick of Lupita in all of these things!! She is not even part of the Award buzz this season! And besides she had her moment, why not let someone else get theirs! How shameful that Ruth is on the fold out, and she is on the front of the cover. Same for Adam's actually!

Also no Viola, again? Ridiculous!

And the styling is just awful, these are such a unappealing dresses!

Hopefully this means that Viola is getting the US Vogue March cover.

No Viola?

Ruth on the fold out?

Gorgeous cover btw.

How interesting that in a year full of fantastic performances by women over 45 - of which five were nominated for an Oscar this year - the oldest one gracing this fold-out is 42.

I agree that Lupita being on the cover instead of Ruth is a shame. Neither her Vogue nor W issues overlap with this so it's not like there was a contractual obligation to stay away from the cover. Emma, Natalie and Amy are on it after all.

So tired of Emma, Lupita and Amy every year. And where's Naomi Harris???

So happy that Lupita finally made the front cover after being on the fold out the past two times.

I think overall it's a really nice group shot with a few new faces! Shame that Viola isn't in the mix.

I wonder where Viola will show up on the magazines? March issues?

Natalie looks incredible in that shot. I would love to have seen something like that as a solo shot for Harper's or such. Really happy to see Janelle in there too.

I'm with everyone else on the Lupita thing and it does seem slightly confusing that she's even on the cover at all? But then I sort of feel the same about Dakota Fanning. The other Dakota I just don't really have interest in.

THIS!!! Exactly this! Why Lupita!!?? She shouldn't be here again. Ruth should have had her place.

Also where's Naomi Harris, Nicole Kidman, Octavia Spencer, Taraji? And Viola but I really hope she's on US Vogue March.

+4!! Talk about being shoved down our throats, I feel she doesn't say no to anyone.

I hate the actual styling, but love the colour scheme. Glad to see Ruth, but gutted over Viola's exclusion.

Just seen the HQ cover and after the text: "Most Exciting Actresses" it says; NONE OVERRATED!!!

Hahahha VF at least has a sense of humor.

Oh and i just realized there is no Naomie Harris here either, what a joke!

Just a couple of thoughts, some in response to posts above:

- Yes, the oldest woman on this cover is only 42, but last year more than half the women on the cover were over 45, 4 of them being in their 70s! Quite rare for a magazine that isn't AARP.
- One of those women who was over 45 on the cover last year was Viola Davis. Yes, she is a favorite to win an Oscar this year but technically this is not an Oscar issue, it's a Hollywood issue, and it's not their obligation to put every Nominee or winner on the cover. Plenty of other nominees also didn't get the cover (Naomie Harris, Michelle Williams, Nicole Kidman, Octavia Spencer, etc.). Maybe she's busy filming or simply doesn't care?
- I wish they didn't look so bored, but the styling is quite nice. Nearly everyone looks like they would make some "best dressed" lists if they wore these dresses on a red carpet.
- After some previous covers featuring only white actresses, it's nice to see 4 women of color featured here. Hopefully Vanity Fair extends that to their single-person covers this year.

^ Isabelle would have been such a nice addition, she was amazing in Elle. Even though the movie itself STILL has me clutching my pearls!!

What a missed opportunity to include men, specially men of color.
I´d have switched Lupita´s place for Ruth´s.
I like the styling, hate the layout.

I was just thinking that...Amy Adams is ALWAYS on these covers.

I'm sick of seeing Lupita, too. She's really not as relevant as she once was. Of course that could change, but putting her on this cover doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

Let's hope next year we'll have some Asians on the cover.
