Versace F/W 11.12 : Saskia de Brauw, Candice Swanepoel & Sean O'Pry by Mert & Marcus

^ It's strange because that is what works for me. The total contrast of the white feathered dress against the dramatic backdrop. Sean's pic, although pretty good also, suffers because the clothes he is wearing are darker and therefore don't have the same prominence.
As I said earlier in this thread, the rest of the collection might not work in the same way that this dress does.

Love that Donatella is taking a new direction with the brand. Loved the symbolism in the latest FW show and absolutely ADORE Saskia's Medusa clutch :P I still would have preferred a different model to Saskia though. Give me Sasha! Even if they put a dark wig on her. Hah, wishful thinking!
Sean is perfect, he really does the clothing justice in the men's campaign.

Then another thing...what's the connection between the background and the clothes? :ninja:

That feathered dress is so delicate and bright but putting it in such heavy and dark space...it looks so out of place!

Fashion is best when there is some irony and juxtapositioning.

I think the whole sexy/unsexy discussion is so pointless...can I ask you something?Has a Prada campaign ever been sexy or seductive?Prada IS NOT a sexy brand and its campaign have always been extremely quirky and "different" but for Versace is like the opposite...sex appeal is the main theme of every collection (both Gianni's and Donatella) so what's the point of casting a girl who resembles a boy...does she look provocative or seductive?Nope...
Not to beat a dead horse, but this post is both offensive because you're presuming to tell the entire world what is and is not sexy (a completely subjective notion) and because it's uninformed as well.

As others have pointed out, Gianni and Donatella have both used many girls who did not conform to the whole blonde and buxom, sex on legs image that is supposedly at the heart of the brand's legacy. Stella Tennant, Kate Moss, Erin O'Conner, Maggie Rizer, Devon Aoki, Trish Goff, Malgosia Bela...all have been featured in Versace campaigns and runway shows, none are what would be considered traditional "Versace" types. Not to mention that a lot of the older Versace campaigns that these girls starred in aren't even what one would typically consider sexy.

And not for anything, saying a model looks like a boy just because she's got a pixie cut and slightly androgynous features is honestly a little immature. Plus, her features are a bit too delicate looking to be considered masculine.

ETA: For the record Prada actually has done what could be considered "sexy" campaigns in the past.

I love it, the colors, the backdrop(wish it was more realistic looking), is beautiful. Can't wait to see more.

It's not the most original ad ever, but i like it. I like that its Saskia, and not some obvious choice, and thank god Testino is NO MORE!

have to say, for me this is one of the best Versace campaigns from previous years

Sure I get your point
I think the reason why someone could like this campaign is the model choice,it's just that I'm used to see the classic Versace bombshell girl in every campaign (Daria,Kate,Gisele, etc) that I just don't think an extremely androgynous girl like Saskia could make that picture work.Still thinking that a girl like Candice Swanepoel would have made shine the dress even more!
Then why everybody is saying Versace has toned the tacky things down?Is that a white feathered dress matched with sparkling bangles and a medusa clutch with crystals appliques I see? That's definitely one of the over the top ensemble I have ever seen in a Versace ad!

LMAO at anyone loving this campaign. Are you kidding me?! All M&M did was take the old versace campaign background Meisel shot and push Saskia in front of it with a dress. And you're telling me that is grondbreaking and your favorite campaign so for? Give me a break!

i think it is a very big move from a flirty and bland versace to iconic versace.
first of all the photos has certain M&M chicness and dream ,then the model choice and
non sexy body language gives the ads a certain class which was lacking for many years

Not groundbreaking, just a thousand times better than Testino's recent work for Versace. What does that tell you about Testino?

Saskia was a great choice for the campaign. I am lovin' the first photo which is the best  i think they didn't have to use so much photoshop, unnecessary...
