Versace S/S 2019 by Steven Meisel

Now that's how you use Shalom Harlow @vogueitalia!! I wish I could unsee the last shot of Bella with the hideous text cause it made me throw up a bit. Who thought it was a good idea?

It does look like someone was sick on it :-D

When I saw the backstage video I got so exited... but then pic is so disappointing! Seriously is that the best one from the bunch?

The other two are not great either. Sadly Meisel is not bringing the magic, same as last season.

Those stickers are hideous, not to mention they repeat art direction from 2018 S/S.

Shalom’s video is amazing! Personally I would love to have this kind of footage for any Meisel project.
She is making that ugly outfit look fun...

So I guess Fernando Verderi is the one to blame for the tacky stickers we got from last season too!

I dont mind the stickers, I like it on print, but when the photos, clothes and styling are bad, there is not much you can do. Bella looks good tho, the best util now, by this you can say how messy this whole thing is.

As much as I want to love this because it stars my favorite Shalom, I could not bring myself to. I feel like her casting was put to waste cause we have this kind of result. But Shalom’s excellent in the video. You could tell that she’s enjoying it. Sadly, Meisel was not inspired enough.

Oh, there’s Bella and Irina. Okay. Next.

Omg this is beyond awful, what a waste of Shalom’s talent. Seriously, and please do not throw in Adut, gigi or Vitto, etc thinking it will make it better, we’re all sick of this. Can’t wait for Bella to become an “activist/actress” so she can finally leave us all alone.

When all is said and done, the clothes are really, really awful. And no amount of hip models, 90s icons, or star photographers can save that. Same applies to Moschino actually.

Yeah, Rianne Imaan and Adut's shot would've been iconic, almost a modern recreation of that forever iconic editorial of supers in Chanel - if the clothes weren't so damn hideous. What is this? Gianni knew how to work with these messy prints and patterns and he knew exactly what he was doing which is why his clothes look wearable and gorgeous to this day. Donatella can't do it. So as long as she keeps living in her brother's shadows, doing those ''tributes'' and recreations because she's so damn uninspired, we're going to be stuck with clothes looking like this.
I wanna highlight two things in the last 2 shots posted: Imaan's pants are making me sick (but she looks so gorgeous!!) and Kris looks absolutely stunning, I'm blown away but I can't with those fisherman hats, I never understood that trend.

As for Steven, all I have to say is - boo, you wh**e. I personally believe that clothes have a big impact on how the editorial/campaign turns out (which is why most of recent editorials s**k), but with Meisel everything turned to gold. You all probably remember his iconic early 2000s campaigns for Versace - those were some hideous clothes but damn, that photography! It was all so inspired and magnificent, energetic. Even the studio ones! So what the hell is going on inside his mind? He reached his peak and now he's too full of himself to even try and create something memorable and worth looking at? It's also the models - that girl between Kris and Vittoria, what is she even doing? She looks terrified.
God, will fashion ever recover from what late 2010s did to it?

Oh wow, what a disappointment so far. I literally can't. Everything is just SO wrong... (about the solo shots)

Bella looks SO stiff. Literally a robot.
I might be the only one, but I like Irina's possesed face.

Happy to see Rianne, Adut, Kris, Blesnya and Imaan tho. Kris looks incredibly stunning)

I think that Meisel (like all the creatives) has reached the point of his career where he is on autopilot mode. It just happen...
Nothing major...

The problem is that nobody (except for JW Anderson at Loewe...And maybe Marc) dares to challenge him anymore. He doesn’t have that Prada platform that allowed him to discover push new models, to experiment.

And with that nostalgic trend going on, everybody is trying to recreate their past. It’s even worst here at Versace because Donatella is recreating her past with a photographer she used to work with while trying to emulate past campaigns...It’s like Nostalgia on Nostalgia.

The same for editorials. It’s only about studios shots by Edward doing the same glamorous thing.

Moschino is also about Nostalgia...
How can’t you be lazy.
